I’ve had Sugarfish in Pasadena and it was as pretty good and this spot is just as good or better. I ordered “Don’t think, just eat” option and added about three different dishes that weren’t in my meal option. All the sushi pieces were ever fresh and delicious. The proportions are on point and the flavors are phenomenal. I’d definitely come back here again and try their other menu items. Overall it was we a solid dining experience. Parking is very limited & you’d be lucky to find some on the street or you can get nearby paid parking.

Hands down the best sushi I have eaten and I was extremely impressed. Also, excellent value for money. I was absolutely stuffed by the end of it. The crab hand roll and scallop sushi were divine. I am still dreaming about this meal and have told everyone! It will become a new tradition where every time I come to LA, I need to come and eat the Nozawa Trust Me set.

What an experience! I have been trying to come here for years, and so glad I did! Melt in your mouth, freshest, tastiest sushi I’ve ever had! Waitress were super sweet & knowledgeable. Price is also very reasonable compared to other chain sushi restaurants. Will be back for date night!!

There wasn’t a wait when I went but midday around 12 gets pretty crowded so be sure to bear the rush. Restaurant is quaint and small but fun and nice decorations. Overall a great vibe and the food was good. I’d definitely come back in the future. It’s on the pricier end but pretty good

This is a five star sushi experience and the price to prove it. Sushi was of excellent quality prepared to perfection. If you’re not too hungry the Nozawa Trust Me is enough to feed two people. I’d recommend this place as long as you’re willing to eat the price.

Sushi-only. An unexpected gem in LA, offering quality sashimi and sushi like toro and sea urchin at a great price point.

This is, without question, the best sushi restaurant I have ever visited. The tenets of nozawa style sushi as described on the menu absolutely ring true. The fish was phenomenal in texture and flavor - the salmon melted in my mouth like butter! The sake was also a great deal. My friend and I each had a Trust Me - I agree with the staff recommendation to have at least one of these. The entire meal was filling and an extremely fair price for a mini-omakase experience.

Really enjoyed the sushi. Everything was fresh and flavorful, the waiter (I think his name was Kai) did a great job explaining each course and even which sake to pair with it. It's only 4 stars because we went around 7pm and it was very dark in the restaurant... It was hard for some of our party to see the menu and what they were eating. Other than that, 5/5, will be back!

Stumbled upon this place just looking for a sushi restaurant near me, and WOW so glad I did. I don't mean to sound hyperbolic, but this was the best sushi I've ever had. The fish just seemed to melt in your mouth. The menu is small but it's because they've perfected their limited items. Such an unexpectedly amazing experience. Highly recommend.

Yummy evening overall. Sushi rice batch a bit too fluffy-soft, and sushi vinegar used in the batch made the rice noticeably off balance. Portion of rice to cut also excessive. Would have preferred less rice. Not sure the fusion dish at the end of the tasting course made sense, I liked that the least. However, the experience was still really good by general standards, so I didn't feel like it was enough to demote a rating for it. The ambience was spacious but still felt cosy, interiors sleek but of contemporary class. LIghting was very lowly lit, very intimate dining experience. Quality of the fish and sea life very very good though. Would chance another visit.

Yeah, this spot was stellar. Expensive, but fair for the quality of food they are serving. Service is excellent and the wait isn’t bad at all to get in. All fish is super high quality and prepared deliciously. Rice is on another level. Lots of use of the ponzu sauce, which I’m very partial to. They provide 5 or more course options for food. Very great.

We are totally embracing the final days of our Birthday month with dinner at Sugar Fish by Sushi Nozawa. An interesting chain restaurant in L.A.'s downtown Financial District, which was bustling at 7 pm on a Saturday. The restaurant features a "very" limited menu dedicated to only sushi prepared with fresh herbs, seasonings and sauces. I missed the miso, salads, noodles, etc., but the sushi was stellar. Also, it was serve with purposely warmed flavorful sticky rice. (Is that a thing? If so, I can dig it!). They have a good saki selection and good iced and hot teas. But they lose a point because it is too dark. Turn up the lights!

Didn’t earn my free birthday Trust Me this year so had to come by on my birthday and make sure I earn one for next year :) Sushi quality and service are always so consistent at SUGARFISH, which is one of the reasons why we keep coming back. Loved every dish! Was pleasantly surprised that this location didn’t have a wait and person at the door was really great and even brought a chair for my mom while we waited for my GF to catch up to us. Will keep coming back and hope for only good surprises.

Always and enjoyable experience here. Love the easy of ordering and the simple checkout process. And of course the freshest sushi around. Closest to authentic sushi from Japan I’ve had.

I love sugar fish. I make it a point to go to SUGARFISH if I’m close to one and craving sushi in the downtown is one of my most reliable options. To go food is ready in 10 to 20 minutes which is great. As for the sushi it can’t be beat it’s fresh, I always go for the nozawa and if you are eating there in person, make sure to ask them for the offer menu specials. This is one of the smaller locations so ambience is tight knit but service is always fast and quick.

The sushi here is great! We went for dineLA but I ended up just getting their “Trust Me” menu. I also ordered the uni and the anago (eel) separately. They were good! You can tell that the quality of the fish was good, and that the ingredients were fresh. Just be mindful that your whole party has to be present to be seated, and that parking is always a little difficult in dtla. Overall, it was a great experience. The ambience and lighting were nice, the servers were all super friendly, and they checked up on us often.

food was great, i love sugarfish. staff was a little odd though. there was some unusual glances shot in my direction and the server was stuffy, borderline unwelcoming. makes me think management puts some weird pressure or stipulations on the working staff. also wish it was a bit easier to order for pick up

An absolutely spectacular sushi experience at SUGARFISH. This was sincerely one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve had in recent memory, and I have dined across the globe. The space is hard to find at night—very discreet signage, if you blink, you miss it. I actually like this about the place. It feels very much like a contemporary, serene hole in the wall. We got the “don’t think, just eat” omakasen as well as a bottle of unfiltered sake, and everything was phenomenal. What an interesting amalgamation of flavor profiles and textures. The highlight of the meal for me was a special scallop with ponzu. The pricing is also extremely reasonable. I very much enjoyed my experience here, and cannot wait to come back!
