A last minute reservation was a lucky find for this spot we were seated outside which was beautiful and classy. Simple and stylish decor and outdoor heaters if the LA winter is too cold. Out server was thoughtful efficient and got our order in fast. Food and drinks arrived quickly and were delicious. Server made great recommendations for main course and dessert
Came here with a party of 9. Nice that they take reservations for large groups. Staff is very accommodating. Food was delicious. We had a variety of dishes from the Tagiella to their pizzas. All were well prepared and nicely presented. The appetizers, particularly the squash blossoms and beet salad were noteworthy. Wait staff was great. Very attentive.
Coming back soon to confirm with myself that I really liked this place. Good food, great drinks, nice overall ambiance, and very nice staff. And please don't skip the beef cheeks on the menu.
This place truly is a metaphor for the saying there is a light at the end of the tunnel, for after passing sixth Street you’ll find yourself a great restaurant. Major fan of the appetizers, had about one of everything and all of which were very delicious. Cocktail menu was also very creative. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the entrées. Had a sampling of about one of everything on the menu as I came with a large party. It felt like each dish was just missing a little something to put it over the top. I think my personal favorites from this place would have to be the steak tartare and the hamachi. Of the entrées the gnocchi was my favorite.
Service is great. While the place was packed, server still had time to answer questions about the menu and deliver food in a timely manner.
Atmosphere is definitely industrial like and has a open floor plan. Not a big fan of the acoustics, with average dB definitely into the 80s and 90s on a crowded Saturday night, which is pretty loud.
Food - 15/20
Service - 8/10
Atmosphere - 6/10
Total score - 29/40 - great restaurant.
Great meal! Loved the space inside and the outdoor seating is also great. Food was delicious with the pizza a real standout. Cocktails from the bar outstanding. Service super timely. Would definitely return! Parking is easy with valet and self parking available.
Got reservations on opentable a few days before & was promptly seated. The open air & interior design was amazing and I really loved the ambience. We sat near the back but still had great service - we ordered several dishes to share & they were all fantastic. A little pricey but a great place to go for a date, birthday or event. Definitely coming back! Also gave us a free gelato for my friends birthday!
Pros:
-Parking is spacious with $9 valet
-Service is good and food came out timely
-The space is bright and open with vaulted ceilings. -Doesn't feel cramped with good lighting for natural photos
-I liked the al dente of the Pappardelle and bread was light and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
Cons:
-The sauce used for the Ravioli was on the salty side
-The Cheese Stuffed Zucchini Flowers reminded me too much of a jalapeño popper
-The sauces they came with the grilled octopus leg just didn't compliment the various components in the
Dish. The octopus leg itself was delish and cooked well.
Would I come back? Hrmm it's ok, but not worth raving for. I'd gear more for a 3.8 star.
The food was great at this Italian restaurant. I ordered the Gnocchi dish with meatballs. The Gnocchi is made in house. It was one of the best gnocchi I've tried. I will return for sure to try other dishes. Service was great and the owner was there and chatted with us as well.
I’m from out of town and was looking for an outdoor dining experience and BRERA did not disappoint. From the moment I was greeted until the moment I left, I was approached with smiles and Italian hospitality.
Highly recommend this restaurant! Valet is $9 and it’s a laid back environment.
Danielle was such an informative server and made me feel confident about my order. She definitely knows the menu and offered suggestions that were packed full of flavor.
Do yourself a favor and make BRERA your next reservation.
We came over here on the chance that we would maybe be able to get a seat for Valentine’s Day. Never been before but wow! Such an incredible variety of flavors in every dish that we had. The Northern Italian cuisine is prepared perfectly! And the space is incredibly cool… Service was spectacular…
A great intimate dining experience. While it was busy on a weekend, we were promptly sitted because we had a reservation. They did put a 2 hours time limit but we were ok with that.
The service was great! We didn't catch the name of our server but the receipt said Olmar. He is friendly and gave great service. We asked for his recommendation because we wanted to order something that is delicious but not frequently ordered. He recommended the Ricotta Capunsei and later the three layer chocolate dessert. They were fabulous. We also ordered the lamb chops, heirloom tomatoes, and the semolina bread.
The Heirloom Tomatoes were chopped and served with plum. It was quite refreshing and unique.
If you're debating between the whole wheat bread vs Semolina, go for the Semolina.
The Ricotta Capunsei werr lovely cheese dumplings with truffle shavings. It was so delightful and pillowy. The sauce complimented the entire meal.
The grilled lamb chops has nice grilled marks served with coucous, and cauliflower.
Finally, the chocolate dessert was so decadent. We would recommend putting the grapefruit sorbet aside because it was served on top of the cake.
Overall, great experience and a great place to impress important guest.
The food here is exceptional! I felt like I was eating pasta in Italy! I’ve been trying to eat smaller portions of carbs but my lamb pasta in red sauce with green pea purée was so good, I ate the whole thing! My friend from NYC ordered the pizza and she loved it too! Next time, I’d like to come back with more people so we can try more dishes family style.
My first time here, loved it. I ordered grilled octopus starter and bone marrow risotto. Risotto rice was not well cooked, otherwise it was perfect. I ordered a caffe latte and I think they brought it after 5 mins as it was luke warm (could be because of limited staff, so I am going to ignore jt). Ordered panna cotta desert and it was delish.

Recommendation: highly recommend this place.
Excellent food. Had the Tagliatelle w/Bolognese delicious, savory and good manly portions. Then I had the Milanese risotto with bone marrow (medula is how I know it from my childhood) it was huge and rich, totally satisfying. And what about those drinks? A man can't take himself to dinner on a Tuesday night without trying the cocktails. First up was the nebula, a pretty blue gin drink, really nice and in a straight ahead glass. Then I had the Isabel. Not my favorite glass but damn, nice and complicated drink dry but not bitter or overly sweet. Great restaurant. Gentleman, keep living that Free agent lifestyle!
Vibe: open ceiling, brick elements, modern. Full bar, craft cocktails, decent wine list. American Italian flair.
Food: mostly good to decent. Nothing was bad, but nothing was amazing.
Ordered the grilled polpo, burrata salad, fresh baked bread with red pepper essence and whipped ricotta, margherita pizza, gnocchi.
Again, while everything was pretty good, everything also could have used a little something more. The tomato sauce of the gnocchi was really well balanced and delicious, but missed a certain savory profile.
Service: mostly very friendly. The supervisor and bussers were uber efficient in taking away empty bottles and plates, but our server was pretty scarce. He came to us after seeing 3 other tables that were seated later than us, and even after taking our order, he didn't seem interested in how we were doing. Other than taking our initial order, the other staff did most of the work.
Food was amazing! Their food wasn’t like other “American” Italian restaurants. Very lightly seasoned but has really good flavor. I loved my green salad and pesto gnocchi!Service was excellent too. All the food and drinks came out at perfect timing. They weren’t busy on Tuesday lunchtime. Weekdays lunch might be good time to go there🫶
Great place. Great ambiance. Great natural lighting. I can do without the smell of wood burning as it does stay on the clothes. It is ok when it is cold but during the summer months....not so sure.
Anyway...the service, the food, the ambiance is why you come here. And if you are here in casual duds and enjoying the Arts district it is perfect for those intimate dates as well as big groups.
They have valet and self parking. You avoid the craziness of DTLA as this is kind of away from the traffic and noise. Overall...will come back. The bar area is also pretty cool.
Food was very delicious and loved the decor! They specialize in Northern Italian cuisine. We enjoyed everything we ordered However, bummed that I didn't take more pics of our food. Highly recommend this place.
