I've known Shig and have loved eating at his family's sushi restaurant for nearly 30 years! He is a true culinary master and so passionate about serving nothing but the highest quality sushi he can provide. Over the years I've eaten at some of the most highly rated sushi restaurants, several of them actually in Japan, and to me, Shig's sushi offers the most perfect balance of traditional Japanese and "American" style sushi that there is. I recall eating some delicious sushi in Tokyo once and thinking to myself that I wished I could finish such an excellent meal with one of Shig's amazing spicy tuna handrolls! His family's restaurant has created a several decades long reputation for itself through its respect and care both of its customers and the fantastic sushi it serves them. This is evidenced by the huge number of repeat customers who are on a first name basis with Shig. Every time that I dine there I always leave feeling that I must return there at least once more!!! Chiba Restaurant and Shig are some of the greatest of the greats!!!

I always have the cucumber hand roll The best tasting hand roll 😎some sushi chef doesn’t know how to wrap a hand roll tightly, when u hold it the hand roll opens and u can hardly eat your hand roll and the contents drops all over ! Shig wraps all his hand rolls tightly like the master sushi chefs in Japan that has to be trained for 20 years before they even touch or call themselves a sushi master ! For someone who lived in Japan we know the difference ! Chiba’s toro , albacore , hamachi and all their special soups, aside from miso is so authentic and delicious ! But you pay for the good food ! Priced higher than other sushi places but top quality all around.

Always packed says a lot about the food Thankfully, I always seem to find an open spot at the sushi bar. The sushi chefs were very friendly and the servers always come back to check in on me after I got my order. I ordered the crunchy roll and salmon skin hand roll which were both delicious! Their miso soup was tasty as well. Located in the northern part of North Hollywood on Lankershim. The place is very nice with a large parking lot that does get full. I would highly recommend Chiba to all my friends.

What can you say? Best fish in Los Angeles. Everytime I go somewhere else, I compare it to Chiba and find myself back at the same place! Chiba! The food is amazing, everytime I introduce a friend, I bump into them when I come back! The new restaurant only makes the eating experience that much better. And the draft dry beer rocks!

Two decades of coming to Chibas. Hard not to compare every other sushi place to here. Tried sushi everywhere and there is a reason I will drive 30 minutes to eat here. QUALITY.

Excellent Sushi, best in the Valley by far. This is not an all you can eat Sushi Place, it is very traditional Japanese, in fact, don't ask for avocado on your salmon, they won't do it, they refuse. The wait is long at prime time, but worth it. Parking lot is safe, its new and has a Valet. Just watch you back, it's in the HOOD.

Chiba serves large pieces of melt in your mouth sushi. It's among the very best Sushi restaurants in the Los Angeles area, competing with restaurants that cost two or three times more.

You can't go wrong. Everything is fresh & beyond delicious! There is of course a proper sushi bar and there is lots of tables for small and large groups - it's not loud! Go!

The only problem with this place is that now I'm spoiled and all other sushi places will pale in comparison ...

I think this is my new favorite sushi spot in all of LA. There wasn't a bad item on the menu and I was surprised by how economical it was for such high quality food. I got lucky and was served by one of the best sushi chefs, Panda. He was super kind, knowledgable, and friendly. We started talking about our lives and we quickly started becoming friends. He recommended the 'Live Sweet Shrimp' and the 'Halibut Fin', both of which were probably some of the best sushi experiences I've ever enjoyed. The atmosphere is comfortable, home-style, not at all intimidating, which belies the exceptional quality of just about every dish.

Did a random search for sushi and Chiba showed up reviews seemed decent. We had lunch here and Chiba did not disappoint. Had to take a picture of the premium Chirashi that we ordered. Quality as fantastic as well as presentation and price. Looking forward to coming back and becoming a regular customer!

I have been coming here for lunch for 10+ years. I work in the film industry and always stop here to grab a lunch combo to go while I'm working. I have yet to come here for dinner but I will. It's my favorite Japanese spot in the valley (arguably my favorite spot in LA) it's authentic, the food is reasonably priced and delicious. I always bring people here with me too

After reading the review of the 28 Best Sushi Spots in Los Angeles dated 1/20/2022, we went there for dinner. All sushi dishes we had are fresh with great taste. We love the patio dining. At 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, most seats are full.
