Reviews Katsuya

I want to start by saying that the staff there were all very professional and our waiter was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and their sushi and sashimi were super fresh, which is a major factor for good quality seafood. There is no complaint about it. However, even for a big city like LA, the price for what you get is still crazy. $55 for Sushi Moriawase and the same price for Sashimi Moriawase? Please see my pictures and you be the judge. What’s even more outrageous was the fried rice with Wagyu Beef and it was $56! Yes, on the menu it clearly indicated that with Wagyu Beef +34. That means the fried rice itself is $22. Again, please see my picture and you’d understand my puzzlement. I totally agree that the food is fresh and outstanding. But for this price? No, we won’t be back.

Katsuya is a fantastic fine dinning sushi restaurant. There are several in Los Angeles, this one is our favorite. It is usually not too crowded, but they do take reservations if you want. I would do that for a weekend night. It is large and spotless. It is also beautiful. The service is uncompared and they know the menu so well, they can give you ideas and help you. There is a sushi bar if you want to sit there and the chefs are wonderful. The whole atmosphere is welcoming and calm. You will be greeted the moment you get there. The servers check on you and you can order all at once or just keep ordering. There is not a bad dish there. We have been enough to know the menu well. They are kid friendly, my grandson loves this place. Be careful letting them order, you will be broke when they are done. They have the best sushi, all fresh and wonderful and they will make it any way you want. They also have the best lobster tempura in town. The side dishes are all great and we love all the rice dishes. Try their BBQ pork over rice. It is so great. You will love this place.

Yes, it is very expensive! However, the quality of the food is like no other. My husband and I couldn’t believe how delicious everything we ordered was, including the cocktails. Service was great as well. We sat outside on the comfy couches and had a nice view of LA live while eating.

I had a really great time at katsuya. I went there with a couple friends and we had some amazing drinks and amazing sushi. Super friendly. Very warm and welcoming. The atmosphere is very nice. It was a little expensive overall but it was good quality sushi. I would recommend checking it out if you want some great sushi downtown and I would love to come back.

I love sushi, and this place has good rolls. It might be a little on pricier side, but the quality is good. I never tried anything other than sushi here, that’s the plan for next visit though!

I recommend the beef dumplings and Brussel sprouts under the apps. You can’t go wrong with any of the specialty sushi options. Reservations required. Service was somewhat slow but the Lakers play the Warriors across the street in an hour & it’s packed.

I just visited the bar area for an adult drink and bartender was real cool. This spot has a great vibe even on a non busy night. I’ve been to other Katsuya’s for food and it was delicious, I can’t wait to go back for food next time. On prime times with events at the center across the street, I imagine this spot as a great place. I’ll update my review once I eat here and get a full experience.

Atmosphere is really nice, we ate on the patio to see the folks ice skating. The food was good, I felt there wasn't a lot of options on the rolls, but the food is fresh and the drinks are fun. I was not a fan of the hand rolls. Our server was dope and helped with food and drink suggestions

Great drinks and food, and made even better by Taylor and Carlos. Do yourself a favor and sit at the bar if you can, delightful servers with hilarious jokes. Make a mean cocktail too

Had a super solid time at this restaurant tonight. Came in with some friends and had some drinks and food, got the tomahawk shortrib. Our server Ashley told us it was great and she was so right, big ups for her. 10/10 will definitely come back.

Great service. Great ambience but not a place for quiet conversations. Tasting menu, unagi, lobster was good… sushi though, was underwhelming.

Nice upscale dining at L.A. Live. One of the better options in my opinion. I love everything about this place. Food, drinks, dessert are on point. It all tastes good! My go to menu items are the crab hand rolls, rock shrimp tempura and miso cod. I definitely would also recommend the Waygu fried rice, the meat literally melts in your mouth. For dessert, the new pumpkin profiteroles (wasn’t on the menu) and ice cream (I can’t remember but it was a lighter version of the vanilla). Also, the ambience can’t be beat. Service was excellent too.

Very good place , service a little random, har to ask for soy sauce 3 times (we ended up laughing about it so all good ) very good specials... The Brussels sprouts over the moon 😜😜 to die4.. in general the warm servings seems to top the raw or maybee just me mood that day. It was a chill day down town. We had some warm saka the premium selection which I was happy I took.

Judging on food taste and whether or not if there is a positive quality to price ratio this location, and every Katsuya I have been to, is worth it. They have a lot of options and are priced the same as many other sushi restaurants aside from the obvious excepted markup due to the location. With that being said because it’s attached to LA Live and next to the Convention Arena and Crypto the crowd dining around you is determined by what’s going on that night. If there’s a concert there will be more formally dressed diners as well as more adults. Tonight because of the NFL experience there were a lot of families. I started off the meal with the Yellowtail Jalapeño and even though it was expensive at $24 it was really tasty. For my entrée I chose the premium Moriawase, which is a chef’s selection of nigiri plus one sushi roll. Everything was delicious and again slightly expensive but I expected that when I made the reservation. Overall it was great quality seafood and I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of sushi especially if you are at or near LA Live or South Park.
