EXCELLENT

My family and I have eaten there a few times. We’ve been impressed every time. The sushi was good and the staff was helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend it!

Went their with the office team when I was in LA. This was my first visit to a japanese place and to be honest I was nervous about the food. But I really liked the couple of dishes that I tried. I had miso ramen soup and pork ginger. Both were great dishes and I had a good experience.

Great sushi tonight at Kanpai. We were looking for a Japanese restaurant near LAX and found Kanpai. We found great sushi and service at a reasonable price. We highly recommend Kanpai!

Omakase is the way to go. Let the chef make you some tasty treats that will stear you off the typical sushi menu and into a new world of tasty food.

A real gem in the neighborhood I wouldn't expect to find a decent sushi place. But, sushi here us amazing!!! The fish is very fresh and everything I've had here was absolutelly amazing. My favorite lunch place, gets crowded at night as locals know about it. Nit a fancy place and prices are in the mid-range, lunch runs at about $25-30 if you order sushi & rolls. But they also have lunch combos for less. Give this place a try!!

Ordered tempura udon, kitsune udon, chicken karaage, chawanmushi and beef teriyaki. Their foods were good and their beef teriyaki was very hard to chew.

This was our first time trying this place. We initially planned on going to the Ramen Joint but their electricity went out. We drove around and found this one. First time trying Ramen and I wasn't disappointed at all.

An incredible sushi experience!!! I must mention that I eat sushi frequently and try to explore new sushi restaurants everywhere I travel to, so I’ve had a good share of sushi pretty much all over the world including Japan, but what these guys make in this small restaurant with a very simple decor is amazing!!! Everything that our server Peter (I hope I recall the name correctly) recommended was off the charts and I loved the presentation and the story of every dish! I cannot wait to go back to LA and definitely visit this place again! I highly recommend it!!

I had the sashimi selection, and the tuna sushi selection. It was incredible. The flavours with the soy and toppings were artfully perfect. Tried the baked shitaki mushroom and even that was delicious. It's not cheap but the quality is exceptional.

Best service. Great food. I have been to Kanpai for so many year. The food can’t compare with back in the day but still a great sushi place in the town

Not only a local favorite, but the best Sushi restaurant in the area. Famous for their Ramen that you can only get past 10PM, and you can’t take the leftovers home. This is the original Kanpai. The second Kanpai on Jefferson opened a couple years ago. They serve ramen all day, but it’s just not the same. The sushi chefs are classically trained. The waitresses and waiters have been serving at this location for a long time. If it’s dinnertime on the weekends, it’s best to make a reservation. The restaurant is small, seating about 10 at the sushi bar, and around 25 at the tables. They have daily specials - always ask for their opinions. Most of the best tasting dishes have come from being curious and open to suggestions. My favorite is their Ikura- salmon eggs that are served in a sauce spoon. Nice selection of private reserve sakes available. Street parking out front is best. The parking lot that sometimes charges is often full.

Very popular, large menu, from sashimi, sushi, tempura to ramen. The sushi were pretty good, especially the Santa Barbara uni, but 10 pieces for $65 was quite expensive. The tempura and salads were good, a bit more American styled though. Service was very good!

No complaints can be made, if there has to be something… it’s would have to be the price… but you do get what you pay for, which is great food and service =]

KANPAI is simply amazing. Discovered it years ago and it maintains both quality and service. Fresh uni, detailed cut and flavor in all plates and fish. Spices on point for edamame. Worth the spend and Travel to.

I found Kanpai after an evening of drinking beer at the bar down the street, and have been saving it for special occasions ever since. It is by far the best sushi and ramen I've had in LA. They serve spicy ramen after 10pm until they close at 1am, so that's when I recommend going. The sushi masters are truly skilled and have excellent recommendations. If you go I, recommend a selection of Sake (get the bamboo - excellent size for 2), Sashimi, and Spicy Ramen. The Sake complements the Sashimi, and Kanpai has an excellent selection. I prefer the bar seating at this location.

Food is ok. They have a decent menu but a couple of the sushi was not available off the menu. I also believe things were overpriced for what you’re getting but a standard sushi spot.

One of the best sushi restaurant around. Only the best fish, great quality with beautiful flavors. Can get very pricey as they have a very extensive menu ranking from caviar and truffle plates to ramen (after 10pm) and more affordable appetizers. Young crowd. Late dinner.

Went here for a graduation/mother's day celebration. Keep in mind they close mid day, 3-430 for the dinner rush at least they did on mother's day. The food here is spectacular, I'm vegan and they made me possibly the best dish I've ever had with eggplant, mushrooms and something else I can't recall but it was delicious. I also had the tempura veggies always good. We, myself, my son, his girlfriend and her dad, they had Sushi and ate so much. They brought us Saki that so good. The service was on point and then some! You won't be disappointed coming here!! This was my second time but others in my party come often!!

We always stop by when in LA! Great Ramen and sushi. We love blue crab hand roll, spicy tuna, salmon, rainbow roll, etc etc My kids love coming here and trying to use chopsticks (but they offer forks if needed). Friendly quick staff and delicious fresh fish makes this our favorite sushi spot!

Still a good experience, but not as special as previous visits. The "omakase" seemed to be pre planned as opposed to what was really fresh and the chef making unique selections for the customers. My guess is that if someone else let them make their choice they would have received the exact same thing as we did. The selection of fish, which was still vast and unique, seemed to be almost exactly the same as last time.
