I went there first when I lost my way while coming back from hiking Griffith park which was apparently fate as I loved the place. It's got a chill and unofficial and friendly vibe that most LA places are lacking. It's also pet friendly if you're seated on the patio. My first visit there I only went for oysters and bubbles but then discovered a whole new world on the brunch menu. My personal favorites were campfire Benny and smoked brisket hash. They also got nice cocktails or cold pressed juice blends in case you had a big night before.

From the valet parking to the restaurant awesome place to be. Everyone is nice very clean, the waiter and waitress are very friendly and always willing to assist. And you can't beat dollar oysters on Tuesday! Very fresh! Highly recommended!

I love Taco Tues & $1 Oysters at MH! Yesterday's BBQ pork w alioli-slaw were best ever too! Delicious. Bring them back!!! Austin Mendez is hands down one of this city's best bartenders too. The drinks he and Hope and the crew serve up? Inspired, original, always on point-- kudos to this superlative bar program and thank you for keeping it stocked as one of the best whiskey bars in LA. I like many of the dishes there too and really have very little criticism for MH except that I sometimes feel certain things are pricier than they should be. The Wednesday Fried Chicken Dinner Special, for example? I think it's really overpriced for what you get but I do like it... I'm on a budget so I just cannot always afford to eat the regular menu. Keep Up The Great Work!!!

Great food, atmosphere and drinks! We had dinner before a concert at The Greek and parked at Messhall. The walk up to The Greek was nice and we didn’t have to sit in the traffic leaving. Will definitely visit again

Cool place and trendy environment for a drink or a meal. They have a wide variety of dishes that sounded intriguing so I will come back for sure; this time we tried the barbecue which was great. The cocktail list was especially extensive, and all of us really enjoyed our respective drinks. Great experience!

Amazing 🤩,my husband and I were going to another restaurant saw the parking valet and asked if we can park he said yes it’s $8.00 I asked if it’s only for Messhall Kicthen? He asked were we were going I mentioned Stamp Proper Foods. He said oh no enjoy this place better! We have it a try and we are glad we did! Amazing ambience, we got seated fast they have outside and inside seating. The food was delicious as well as the drinks. Give it a try and ask for any type of alcohol beverage they have a variety of choices.

Starting with parking, there’s plenty of street parking around and they have valet. Our group had a variety of dishes and they were all very delicious. Tostadas felt so fresh and I would definitely go back to try more things there. For now, I’m giving 5 stars because our whole party was pleased. The only reason would give it 4.5 because their ice cream to brownie ratio was so off. Hahaha.

The black bean and quinoa tostadas were delicious, got chips for everything that fell off. The fried okra were super crunchy and drinks well done.

The food was well above average! A really great stop, worth your time and energy if you're looking for any of the following: The Mess Burger was really great! Bun was soft, meat cooked spot on! Condiments and toppings were on point. The Blackened salmon burger was even better if it was possible. The sweet potato fries were good but could use some seasoning help and probably better as a double fry. The chicken wings were, chicken wings. :) Above average dipping sauce. The banana pudding for dessert was well done and homemade, enjoyed the homemade wafer cookies like Nila's. Other 2 areas I review but are not part of my overall review: Atmosphere was nice with the outdoor fire pits and canopy Service was outstanding and friendly!

Came with my daughter and mama, and let me tell you....they did not disappoint. Wonderful service, great tasting food! My Kom loved the half dozen oysters so much, we ordered a second round. Fantastic wine selection! Their Farro Risotto was delicious and their Spicy Quinoa hit the spot. Their salmon was made to perfection. My daughter loved the kids choices so yes, very kid friendly. Definitely coming back again

Visited here a few weeks ago and enjoyed the meal. Returned because I saw they had Pappy Van Winkle at the bar and treated myself for my birthday. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. Of the four Pappys options, I chose the 10 and 12 year. They also have the 15 and 23. It didn’t not disappoint. And, I they also gave me the apply crumble which had a lovely whipped cream for my birthday, which paired nicely with the Pappys. I’ll certainly ably be back.

Went for brunch. The ambience and the staff are great. The crab cake hash and loz feliz Benny are great as well. The smothered biscuits with fried chicken was tasty and has a smoky taste. It was a little too spicy for my friend (pro tip: ask them to hold the hot sauce if you can’t handle the heat). The pancakes are beautiful but taste wise I would pass.

Came by the other night on a whim for some dinner before an evening out in LA and I was NOT disappointed! After handing off my car to the valet ($8 BTW) we walked into the Messhall. The outside was very understated but inside had a summer camp cabin vibe and I am all here for it! After being sat we met our amazing server Gabriel (apologies if I spelled that wrong) who walked us through the menu and the fun drink menu! We picked out some drinks and food at Gabriel’s recommendation and waited… In a word…wow! The food and drinks came out quickly and were amazing!! The biscuits were flaky and delicious and then there was my FishFry on a massive plate. This is where you get your monies worth when it comes to the amount of food AND quality! Long story short we were very impressed and will no doubt be back! Can’t wait to try more of their menu!!

Was hungry after the flea market and found this spot close by. parking was rough but that's La so no biggie lol. Lots of seating inside and outside, very large space. They do ask what your preference is and seat you there which I liked. We ordered a kale Caesar, turkey burger, sweet potato fries, Mac and cheese, and shrimp and grits (but it was polenta). Turkey burger was good & so was the mac and cheese. Kale Caesar was ok, wouldn't get again. The shrimp and polenta was pretty good, wasn't a huge fan of the gravy it was sitting in. Sweet potato fries were 10/10! Would get those again. My only complaint was how long it took for the food, we waited about 40-45 minutes and it wasn't very busy. Service was amazing though, she was super sweet and checked up on us constantly.

This place is a gem! Only down side-No street parking, only valet costing $8. We sat at the bar- The bartender *Louis* impressed us with his cocktail skills and his positive energy. He was very attentive and provided excellent customer service. Highly recommend: SLOW COOKED POT ROAST: exceeded my expectations! I will come back for this dish. The horseradish cream is brilliant. KALE CAESER SALAD: generous portion & flavorful.

This place was really nice. Nicer than the photos lead me to believe. Made a reservation and was able to find street parking a block away. I took my girlfriend here on Friday night for a little date night and we both got the mess burgers with sides of sweet potato fries and broccolini. We also got the cup of ambition cocktail which doesn’t pair well with a burger but that’s on us lol. Overall, very good if you have them separately

Let's face it the draw of this place is the friendly and knowledgeable bartending staff. Brenden is not only a great guy to talk to but excellent at mixing up tasty libations for whatever you preference. He talked my girlfriend into drinking bourbon, and she loved it. Ginger honey and bourbon. I also think the food there is good and varied. Kale salad, barbecued goods, nice burgers and comfort food, The valet parking might aggravate so look for a place on the street. In an easily accessible location off the 5 freeway near Griffith Park.. I recommend it for drinks. It's also our go-to place after golf at at Harding, Wilson and Roosevelt.

Went there for brunch at a Monday afternoon, the place is always buzzing! They have a nice theme inside and quite a lush outdoor seating as well. I tried the avocado toast with smoked salmon which was just mesmerizing with the amount of avacado they put on it, super fresh and healthy! Had the chicken Sandos with kale salad which just blew my mind , possibly the best fried chicken i ever tasted, It was crunchy, tender from inside and pretty good! For the dessert , i had the banana cream pudding which is the best thing you will have here! It was creamy and so good ! Highly recommend this place as the location is pretty convenient. There is vallet parking and ample parking on streets as well.

I started off my dinner with a drink that was recommended to me by my server called The Amanda. It’s a serrano and cilantro infused vodka with lime, pineapple, and sugar. I can say that I have never tasted anything like this drink before. The serrano and cilantro really stand out in this drink and it’s actually delicious. I did not think I would like a drink that has pepper flavors in it but this was actually refreshing and the citrus in it really complimented the Serrano and cilantro. Next I tried the crispy Brussels for my appetizer. I can’t say that they came out crispy, but I can say that this was the all star of the night. The Thai flavors coming out of this dish was phenomenal. The onions, carrots, cabbage, and mint really complimented this Brussels dish so well. Huge fan. My main course was the crispy chicken sando and it was good! The breading on the chicken was perfectly crispy, the remoulade was absolutely killer, and the Brie cheese was a nice fancy touch to the sandwich. I can’t say I was too crazy about the pickled celery but it didn’t take away from the sandwich too much. Was this the fanciest chicken sandwich I’ve had? Yes. Was it the best I’ve had? Unfortunately no, but still a good chicken sandwich! The service was very fast and efficient, my server was very sweet and informative about everything I had asked her. I definitely love the atmosphere inside. it’s very wide open, but still intimate and it really does have a camp Messhall vibe when you look around. Will absolutely be back to try their brunch and their famous BBQ
