Cracklin’ beer can chicken and Fish is so Delish were the best items on the menu! Would love to go back during all you can eat chicken night!
Went for my daughter's birthday had an amazing time. Service was excellent however they forgot one order.i loved my double burger but the chicken was dry.
Sunday morning after my workout, ate the breakfast plate, OMG !!!!! Waiter was super nice.....

Understated decor and a simple trim menu makes for easy choices and mellow times. The food is a homered no matter what you choose. Great service with a smile. I'd eat there everyday if I could.
Amazing food, great vibe, wonderful staff.
Loved it!

Food was good, staff friendly and a very chill atmosphere. Loooved the eggs 😍
Everything was Awesome!! Tried a few new dishes, love it.
Fried chicken, ramen, and hush puppies were amazing! Good drinks and atmosphere. Go there now!
Not incredibly fancy, but the food was outstanding. Will come again
Great food and even better service. Best place I've eaten in LA so far.
Yummy food. Fun ambiance! Couldn't get enough of the chicken and pancakes.
This was a nice adventure,on the weekend they give U all you can eat pancakes. So I gave it a try, people said the Red Beans ones were really good. I also had a desert that was off the chain for a one time thing :)
Delicious and cosy!
Really nice vibe with great staff! Russell helped us navigate the menu and advised us on happy hour. We had the poutine, Korean wings and shrimp shrimp, all were sooo tasty! We would definitely eat here again.
Me and my family went to the A-Frame after seeing it on a list of restaurants that had been featured on the Food Network. We had also checked the reviews online and saw that they were mostly good so we decided to give it a try. The exterior of the building gives it a cool vibe and suits its name. The atmosphere was trendy in a hip and cool way but not in a luxury or fine dining kind of manner. We didn’t have to wait to be seated which was nice. We were seated outside which was fine considering it was nice out. The hostess was pleasant as well as all of the staff that we encountered, our waiter included. Now onto the food. The food at the A-Frame did not disappoint. We all ordered entrees and each of us enjoyed them immensely. My brother still to this day says that his meal was the best thing he has ever eaten on any vacation we have gone on. Additionally, we got a dessert to share and it was gone in matter of minutes because it was that good! Overall I give the A-Frame 5 stars!
Brunch: the best meal, because everyone can get what they want. Sweet, savory, it’s got it all. So, when someone proposes brunch, I tend to be in. And that’s how we ended up at A-Frame for brunch just a couple of weekends ago. A-Frame, for those not in the know, is part of Roy Choi’s restaurant empire, housed in an old Wienerschnitzel (or so the story goes – I think it’s true) that’s been converted into a bright Hawaiian “diner.” Hearty meals await, especially at brunch, when unlimited pancakes and unlimited beverages call to the hungry and hungover.
Checked out Luau Hour (Happy Hour) here at Chef Roy Choi's A-Frame yesterday and was very happy with the dining experience.
It's a pretty small place with dining similar to Benihana's where you share a table with another group depending on whether or not your party is occupying the entire table (no grills involved). Me and a friend arrived and was greeted by the staff before being seated right away. Reservations are recommended in my opinion but we lucked up this round.
Though there is an entire menu of appetizers, plates and desserts to explore...I ordered strictly from the Luau Hour menu which had some awesome choices. I ordered the furikake kettle corn that was unique with its mix of flavors that blended well. With each handful, I sometimes got a different flavor of seaweed, saltiness and sweet (some stronger than the other) which was great for tasting each individual seasoning on the kettle corn.
Next up were the O.G ribs. Tender, meaty and super flavorful is the best way to describe this dish. The hoisin glaze played a huge role on these ribs. The glaze was so good that I kept dipping into it even after the ribs were finished with the bones after.
I always tend to save my last paragraph for the best dish of the visit so this goes to the Loco Moco...pure awesomeness. Traditionally it had the look of the loco moco but differed from others I've had. One was the meat. Unlike the traditional burger patty, this was done with hambagu steak which gave a softer texture similar to Salisbury steak and much more flavorful. Next was the curry that was used in place of the gravy. This curry was delicious!!! My friend who's a very picky eater even applauded this curry as we ate. I'd add this on any rice dish if I could get my hands on this curry at any moments notice lol.
Great food and drinks (let's not forget the drinks!) that has me planning another visit. The cracklin beer can chicken looks amazing so aiming for that next visit.
Visit date 7/2/2015
I would personally suggest if you're in LA this restaurant is a must try, great combo of both food and drink, its fresh flavoursome, fast service and the place is happy and friendly and relaxing with juicy flavours!!! Totally recommended
I LAVA'D IT!
I could not resist that reference being Hawaiian food and all.
This restaurant has been on the top of my list to try out. I have never tried Hawaiian cuisine before and was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I forgot to call for a reservation, and the night we tried to visit, A-frame was a full house. Since our Airbnb home was just 5 minutes away, we decided to have our food for to-go and enjoy the food at our place instead of waiting for an hour to get a table. We ordered the Loco Moco and Spam musubi. After taking one delicious bite of their Loco Moco, I knew what all the hype was about. The combination of gravy, rice, burger and egg was a comforting experience. I'm pretty sure I'm going to add this to my long list of perfect comfort foods to perk me up in times of sadness. The spam musubi was phenomenal, I mean anything with spam is quite awesome, but this one takes it away. Delicious bites of rice and spam heaven. I think I want to be Hawaiian now. Maybe if I eat this everyday for the rest of my life, they'd make me an honorary Hawaiian? It's worth a try and A-frame is my golden ticket. Kidding aside, A-frame is definitely worth the visit for Hawaiian food at its best.

We were recommended to try “A Frame” which was not far from where we stayed. Looking at the menu we were enticed by the Korean x Hawaiian flavours and decided to give it a go. We made a reservation in advance – good thing we did because it was pretty busy. I wish they had an indication on the menu on how spicy dishes are, because these 2 dishes were spicy! .. that or our spice tolerance really sucks these days. Actually the fried rice was bearable and were able to taste the flavours despite the chilli-ness. The salad however, we expected it to be refreshing with a bit of tang but felt the chilli took over the whole palette for us
I was a fan of Roy Choi. After eating here, I am MASSIVE fan of Roy Choi. Across all the meals I've eaten around the world, this is a top 5 of all time. The food here is spectacular, fresh, flavoursome, unique and delicious. Excellent menu of both food and drinks. We tried the addictive Fukikake kettle corn, the flavour-bomb Eight-legged duck, perfectly balanced Poke samplers of Ahi tuna and shrimp, Pork belly lechon ssam, double kimcheeseburger, beer can chicken and outstanding pound cake churros with malted chocolate milk and icecream. To top off the night we got to meet the godfather of food trucks himself, Roy Choi, who was amazingly welcoming and down to earth. An absolute must-eat if you are in LA

A for A Frame. Had Bruch here today. Very good menu, service, crowd and value. Have eaten dinner here a few time and forgot to post. Dinner was also very good
Awesome ambiance. Great service. Try the Trick if your thirsty. Food was reasonably priced. I would come back but to try something else. Beer can ckn didn't do it for me.
Delicious swordfish tacos, cocktails, kitchen fries, and s'mores! Made it during happy hour and thought it was just lovely eating by the fire.
My first experience.... ....was pretty awesome. Tataki, Shrimp Tempura, Ribs, Brussel Sprouts, Beer Chicken, and Churros. Wish it was in Venice.
Savory Art. With exposed wood beams, communal tables, optional utensils, and plates meant for sharing, A-Frame absolutely embodies its ideal of the "modern picnic." Chef Roy Choi does not dabble in subtlety, catering to our modern generation of extremeophiles by creating explosively flavorful dishes in a fusion of outlandishly paired culinary styles and ingredients. If "Bitches Brew" by the great Miles Davis were to be translated into a tasting menu, you'd find it at A-Frame.
Ribs so savory that the first bite almost hurts and the beer can chicken; chicken should be legally prohibited from tasting this amazing. Dipped in the red sauce, in the green sauce, without sauce at all; by the time you've determined what you like best you're covered in grease, having devoured the entire thing in a mad frenzy.
The small plates, the large plates, and the desserts are all their own mini-culinary adventure. With so many tempting options, It's easy to go all out here and the reasonable prices don't provide much of a deterrent against doing so.
A-Frame. Great spot! Love the vibe and the food is delicious.

The Kogi Version of Upscale. A-Frame is the most upscale of the Kogi BBQ family (along with the Alibi room, Chego, and the Kogi trucks). In the style of the other restaurants, the flavors are bold and not necessarily the combinations you normally see, but they work very well, and everything I've tried is delicious. The lamb chops and the chicken/cornbread salad are great, and I've had other dishes (like crab cakes with some sort of really good mustard sauce, which they don't always offer) that I hope will come back. I recommended A-Frame to a visiting coworker from Ohio and his wife, who were looking for something different from home. I told them A-Frame would fit the bill, and they were impressed. The lesson is that A-Frame is different, fun, and is satisfying to a large variety of palates.
Special place!!. This place was PACKED!! We ended up just eating at the bar because it was an hour+ wait & they don't take reservations, but it was all good. The bartender was super friendly and it was cool to watch him work - he put so much detail into each drink. My boyfriend & I shared the Kitchen Fries (fantastic!! more like perfect potato wedges), BBQ Lamb chops (lots of amazing flavor, a little chewy for me though) & Warm Cornbread & Chicken Salad (very interesting dish - never had anything like it - but it's just how it sounds salad over tasty cornbread).
Do not be on a diet. This was a GREAT experience, the food was amazing, we started with the popcorn (to die for), there was so much of it that we gave half to the other people at our table, then had the fried chicken ( very tasty) with the bread and butter (could live on that ), we had also ordered a salad but that never came so the chef gave us a free desert which was the churros ( OMG!!!!) . The wine was delicious. the place is interesting , a little cold but we do love sharing tables. They were busy and a bit unorganized but the waitress was friendly and help full and I can't wait to go back.
Finger Lickin' Good. My wife and I went to A-frame last night for the long awaited opening of A-frame, which is brought to you by the guys at Kogi and Alibi Room. Needless to say, we were not the least bit disappointed. In fact, we were astonished with everything from the stylish conversion of an old I-HOP, to the communal style eating, and to of course, the food. From a design perspective they killed it. It's a smallish space but with the high ceiling inside, the zen-ish garden outside, and the bar tucked neatly into a corner the space flows very well. We had been a bit perplexed with how the communal style eating would work but I believe they accomplished what they were aiming for, and that is to get to know the strangers next to you. We were at one of the long 'picnic' style tables inside and everyone was sharing tips on what eat and what to order. It made for a fun, casual atmosphere where you get to meet neighbors you've never met (literally) and instead of awkwardly staring at someone's food wondering what they ordered, you could actually ask them what it was.
Now onto the important stuff. The mixed drinks were amazing. We started off with the 'anchorman', which is scotch based and slightly sweetened served over a ball (literally) of ice. We started off with a bowl of kimchee to our surprise it came out cubed, not shredded and a nice little bite to it. We then moved onto the blue crab cakes. They were presented with lettuce and a giant leaf that was a cross between mint and basil. Luckily we had a nice waitress who guided us through the how to of eating them. Using the giant leaf as a method of transport, we dipped the crab cake in the cream sauce and proceeded to devour them. From this point on we retired the silverware, instead opting to go at with our fingers. Next out came the baby back ribs, at which point we also switched over to there beer selection - which with 12 beers on tap you can easily find what you want from a selection of beers you don't typically see at LA bars - such as Saison and a Black IPA. The ribs are covered in a slightly sweet, spicy sauce and crackle when you bite into them making for the perfect combination of textures. We then moved onto the buffalo wings which have a spicy, slightly Korean flavor and a generous bowl of blue cheese to dip them in. Lastly, we ordered the warm chicken salad over cornbread. All I can say is this isn't your mother's chicken salad - just order it.
The vibe of the place is fun and energetic…and loud (not necessarily a deal-breaker for most, but just so you know). Seating is communal, as is the silverware (look to the center of your table for a basket of implements). Once you order, the food starts coming, fresh from the kitchen.
Now, being that it’s got a hot and happening reputation, if you find yourself at A-Frame, this is one of the places where you really should engage in a conversation with your Waitstaff. I think a lot of the menu items jump out at you, new takes on old favorites that you should dive right into. But take the time to venture past your comfort zone, that way you won’t miss things like the Pan-Roasted Asparagus and the Warm Cornbread and Chicken Salad.

Who would've thought you could turn the International House of Pancakes into quite the dining destination? Roy Choi puts it down again for the westside with A-Frame . The menu is a casual modern American lineup with an Asian inspiration. Yeah, I know that’s kind of a lot of restaurants nowadays. All good, the food at A-Frame is very tasty and one of the better players in Culver City. This day in age with social media and food + travel shows, we get to follow our celebrity chefs and learn beyond the food. Roy always comes 100 with his passion, influences from Korean food and showcasing the diversity of Los Angeles. Salute! *Update: A-Frame is working on a new Hawaiian concept menu for 2015. There’ll will be some holdovers from the original menu, peep it right here . Previous post Beast PDX Leave a Reply Click here to cancel reply. You must be logged in to post a comment. Recent Posts
None of the dishes really blows my mind, but for what the dishes are – simple, Asian-inspired American food – I think that they are very well-executed. Simple and comforting.

The Clam Chowder tastes much better with lemongrass coconut milk, but anything infused with coconut milk is bound to be great. The fries tastes better with Asian yams and potatoes, because it's more sweeter. Hell, even the Asian inspired cocktail drinks are inventive and unique; you get to decide if you like yours sour or sweet. However, of all the dishes that I liked
2. Double Cheeseburger (11 USD): Tomato confit, pickled red onions, butter lettuce, hot sauce, sharp cheddar, sesame mayo, buttered brioche bun. Chef Papi Chulo even sneaked in a leaf or two of ggaennip, or perilla, for that Korean touch! Biting into the burger, I was struck by its strong beefy flavor and a symphony of strong, spicy flavors from the meld of the tomato confit, pickled red onions, and hot sauce. Every component of the burger was top notch, including the rich and pillowy brioche bun. "C" and I agreed that we liked the burger. ("C" also remarked that the Double Cheeseburger reminded him of an Umami Burger, which he had recently tasted.)
Roy Choi is a name that is inextricably linked to the Los Angeles food scene in our memories. Arguably the granddaddy of the food truck craze, Choi is the genius behind the ubitquitous Kogi BBQ trucks , out of which we were served our very first taste of city on our very first trip to LA together. Choi's food isn't all mobile, though. He's also responsible for serving up delicious fusion dishes at Chego in West LA, and now A-Frame in Culver City. We recently grabbed dinner at the latter, open since last fall, with Nick from TreasureLA . It turns out when you strip down an old IHOP, keeping its recognizable a-frame structure, the results are sleek, modern and surprisingly chic, yet cozy. As we wait for Nick, we sip a couple of brews from A-Frame's small but impressive craft beer list and enjoy the soundtrack of Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. The music selection is intentional, helping to create a calculated lack of pretension. The theme - as Choi likes to call it - is 'modern p
Last week, A-Frame , a collaboration between Roy Choi ( Kogi , Chego ) and David Reiss ( Alibi Room, The Brig ), opened shop in Culver City. Like its co-founders' previous ventures, the restaurant is decidedly unfussy, employing, instead, a "modern picnic
The space is small, housed inside an old IHOP - you can tell by the signature sloped roof (a.k.a. the "A-Frame") With very few tables, you wind up dining next to strangers. I was hoping our neighbors would share their Furikake Kettle Corn (I offered some of our food to them) but they never did
Although A-Frame has been open for awhile now, it's only recently that I've been able to pay it a visit. Having experienced Owner/Chef Roy Choi's food through Kogi here and here and having loved it, I knew I was going to enjoy my meal at A-Frame. Although it didn't get an A,there was more than enough great food to have me wanting to come back for more. Our meal started with the Heirloom Pickles with creamy dip and extra virgin olive oil. I love pickled vegetables so this was a definite hit with me. More ... For awhile now, I've been hearing from fellow blogger, Tiffin Unboxed about how wonderful the Furikake Kettle Corn with buttered Blazinâ Jâs Hawaiian style is and after my first handful, I was in complete heaven. I just loved the sweetness, the saltiness and the ocean flavors of the seaweed all combined together. A whole bowl wasn't enough since I had to share. I could have easily eaten a whole bowl just by myself. Next up was a Filipino-inspired dish in the form of a 5-Gr
This place is so goood! Good quality food. Breakfast sandwich was delicious. The buttermilk pancakes were awesome. Love the pineapple, orange, guava jelly on them. Everything is made in house. Our waitress was the best. She was very nice and friendly. Most of all down to earth. The restaurant has outside seating with some communal tables which i love. I'll definitely come back!
Impressed by the unlimited mimosa and pancakes.
Not very comfy with having to share seats with strangers but this is how they try to fit people in. Not much parking so better come at a not so busy hour.
Our server was super attentive and kept us busy eating and drinking. The musubi in deep fried pork is recommended. Their house chicken is nicely fried outside but dry on the inside. The one that I ate anyway.
Have driven by this place a hundred times and finally stopped in. It feels like a big makeover happened here in what looks a bit like a ski chalet but with a Hawaiian vibe complete with wooden surf boards lining the walls. There's a nice selection of beers on tap and a full bar. We opted for the poke sampler that came with two ample mounds of albacore and ahi poke. Both were delicious. For main courses we had the beer can chicken which had a very nice crispy skin with two sauce options (the red hotter sauce was my favorite) and the white fish entre served in a nice broth sauce with rice. The fish was my favorite but the chicken also stood out. The only shortfall was that the entree portions we're a little light. The pound cake dessert was excellent with some nice chocolate dipping sauce. The all you can eat pancake brunch looks good here so we'll be back. Very nice atmosphere here with outdoor seating.
food felt like hawaiian-asian-latin fusion for me. almost everthing on the menu is spicy, and i love spicy food, so this place is good for me. if you don't like spice much, be sure to let your server know when you order. the place is small; the ambiance is great; can get really really loud, especially when packed
I swear everything on the menu was delicious!! It was so good we went back the next day on Sunday for AYCE pancakes.
We had the :
fingerling tostones-yum
Double cheese burger-yum
Ponzu Poke- yum
Mac Salad- yum
Banana bread pudding-yum
Breakfast plate-yum
Crackin beer can chicken- yum
This place is super cool. Very small though. They have unlimited pancakes, though I hope they include more flavors in the future. The food is really good. Nice place to come and catch brunch with friends. Unlimited mimosas if you add it to your meal.
This is a really neat Place. Sundays only you can get all you can eat chicken, comes with 3 different types of chicken the beer can chicken was my favorite the other two not so much. $23 a person comes with bottomless fries, salad, Hawaiian rolls, dipping sauce, chicken and corn on the cob. Nice and fresh, family style seating, and our waitress was awesome.

I really like this place. Communal tables makes it very Aloha. Music can be loud so if you are looking for quiet eat outside. Flavors are always on point. Come & check out Roy Choys flavors, he & his team do a great job of giving you a whole experience from the decor, music and friendly staff.
A-*#%€ing-mazing!
Great drink deals and the Best Loco Moco outside of my kitchen. Truly awesome service. Mac salad was great for the mainland.
Thank you for a great time in a great space.!
Went here at around 630pm on a Friday night and it was pretty empty. They had a luau menu which is basically a happy hour menu which was pretty cool. We ordered the margarita (super strong) a beer, the musubi plate (super bomb) it came with 3 musubis, the poutine ( super cheesy) and the Mac salad which was huge... But I don't think I would order that one again. Very casual, I love the interior of the restaurant, it's all wood paneling which is cool. I definitely want to try this place for brunch!
Not everyone at the table needs to order the AYCE, but that's what we did. Don't fill up on fries, they let you take the left over fries home. Parking wasn't a problem, they have a lot on both sides of the restaurant.
Very much lived up to its height. Had the all you can eat (AYCE) pancakes and was pleasantly surprised. One that I didn't necessarily think I would like (i.e. the red bean one and the pineapple, orange, guava one) were great. Unique flavors that worked well throughout. Our server was also very nice and quick and on a beautiful day in LA what's better than eating copious amounts of pancakes outside? Nothing.
Delicious Hawaiian food! If you’re craving Hawaiian food this is the place to go.
Prices are a bit high and the mimosas are lacking, but the food is truly delicious!
I enjoyed the all you can eat pancakes...they are a good size, so you can enjoy as many as you want. Try thier different variations...also, thier beer can chicken is delicious. The communal seating (sharing a table with another couple/party) is cool, but if you want an intimate dinner experience, this may not be an ideal setting. Besides that, it's a cool spot to go to once in a while. They have a neat set up, music they play gives a nice island vibe and they have a bar for those who want a lil "spirit" along with thier meal. The waiters/servers were super friendly, but the hostesses were not as approachable...I don't know why, maybe caught them on a bad day. Still worth a visit with family or friends. I think I may try the musubi next time I go 😉
Sorry. I wish i had a better picture to post, but we ate everything so fast!! Bar none, best restaurant on the West Side. Artisinal drinks and food. Best appetizers.. everything here is mouth watering good. My friend got the crackling chicken which is basically like a basted chicken plate with rice and sides together on one large plate. And the pasta appetizer and burgers are incredible.
The pancakes and breakfast were delicious, they make you feel like if you're on the back yard of your grandma's house... Decoration and shape of the restaurant it's amazing..
Went here on a morning double date because we heard the pancakes were delicious. They were! I didn’t actually order any but because a friend had unlimited we all partook.
Aside from that though, the only memorable item that any of us ordered was the coffee. The food was okay. We all ordered different things and tried each other’s stuff so I think we had a decent sample size. My buddy’s breakfast was cold. The eggs on my gf plate we’re good. Pancakes were good. And my meal was whatever.
Service was really good though. Everyone was extremely welcoming and nice and the crowd there for breakfast was pleasant. The hostess did say we could only have our seats for an hour due to reservations but no one else ever came so we just sat.
All in all it was okay.
