I hadn't been here in about 16-17 years. We came in for lunch. We were lucky to find parking right upfront. We were seated right away. Our server greeted us and gave us menus. She took our drink order and food order shortly after. The food came out fairly quickly and it was nice and hot. The portions were very nice and the food was delicious. My Wifey and mother loved it. It has gotten very pricey since I was last here but their portions are good and the food is amazing.
My girlfriend and I visited this place on a recommendation. A Peruvian restaurant located in a strip mall near Hancock Park. From the outside it does not look like anything special. There was a short line outside, it was Saturday around 1PM. Went inside and signed into their waiting list, we were called in about 20 minutes later. Inside the place is clean and feels very warm, it has a good vibe. the staff is friendly and we were greeted with smiles. Browsed the menu and we decided to start with their seafood soup, and both the shrimp and steak lomo saltado’s for our entries. The soup came out in about 15 minutes. We served our first bowls, n I gotta see…. Wow, it’s not like what’s in the soup, but what did they miss?! Also the seafood portions are very generous. Now time for a taste… again blown away, the tomato broth was delicious and perfectly seasoned, all the seafood was fresh. One of the better seafood soups I have experienced in a long time. We finished our soup, right down to the bottom of the bowl. I liked to mix my bites with that green sauce they have, warning:it’s got some heat 🔥and a nice flavor profile. About 5 minutes later our saltado’s arrived. I took the first bite of the steak, my taste buds immediately started to fire - the texture and seasoning was incredible, I could feel my mouth salivating in anticipation for the bites to come. The portions are huge! Next time we may only order a single serving, adequate to share amongst 2. As I enjoyed the meal I began to develop my perfect bite; steak, potato, rice, onion and a bit of their green sauce. This establishment is the defacto on how restaurants should be operating: great service, fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection. It is obvious that dishes are cooked to order.
Service was very strong, server was very attentive to water leaves and clearing the table as we completed courses
A couple of considerations, as Mario’s food is so good. There is a demand, and with this expect long wait times especially on weekends, parking can be a challenge but we got lucky and found parking right in front. Also, when seated it takes some time to get served - but consider that they are cooking each dish as it’s ordered, this only adds to the experience once you’re served.
I plan to revisit Mario’s many times. Highly recommended this establishment for anyone that appreciates good food and is on the lookout for an unique experience
I believe one of the best Lomo saltado in LA. Very hearty, high protein and carbs. Very good flavor my only critique would have to be wish they just add more sauce onto the plate.
This indigenous dish won't disappoint. Come early or else you'll be waiting outside in line.
Delicious Peruvian food, big portions. Saturday night had to wait about 45 min for a table for 1 but it was totally worth the wait. Small place with very few tables, food is really good
Amazing Peruvian food hidden away in a tiny place. Recommended to us by an LA native, don't miss out!
Mario's Peruvian & Seafood totally slayed! 🌟 The Lomo Saltado was lit, and the service was on point – no cap! 100% recommend for a quick and delish meal. It's vibes for real!
The ambiance of the restaurant was okay. Very casual restaurant. It was a busy restaurant when we came but the waitresses were very attentive of our needs.
The serving of the Shrimp and Steak Lomo Saltado was massive. The price is around $22. The flavour was amazing. The chips in there were nice even though they were saggy because it was stir fried. The steak were well done. And the shrimp is the star of that meal, it was perfectly cooked and flavoured. The rice was fragrant seems like it was cooked with coconut or something. They also serve bread with green chilli sauce which was on point with it’s peppery flavour. Good first try of Peruvian cuisine.
The food was very good, the portion was great for overall cost..
I recommend ordering in advance. I was told it would take 10 minutes to prepare which turned into 40 minutes. Again the food was excellent though
My first time having Peruvian food and I was absolutely impressed. The combination of all the flavors, seasonings, and food was so tasty. The salsa verde was also really good but way spicier than expected. The piece of bread they give you wasn’t anything but everything still tasted hot and fresh even though I got it delivered. I’m so glad I tried this place and you should too!
I have been going to Mario’s for over 20 years but had not been there since pre-pandemic. I ordered the Lomo Salgado but the steak was very, very tough. Usually spot on, so maybe it was an off day for the cook. Portions are huge and the taste was still very good.
This is probably the only spot I desire when I think Peruvian food ! If you know if any other spot please let me know and I will try it but I doubt that it would knock this one out the park. The service is amazing! Very attentive and kind, but the food is beyond delicious and has so much flavor. I always go for their lomo saltado but last time I tried to fried fish with rice and it was such a refreshing taste like no other. They are always busy and they take no reservations. It's first come first serve and parking can be a little difficult since it's a small hopping center on a corner so look for street parking.
Expect the 20-30 mins depends on when you arrive.
This is a hole-in-the-wall family restaurant. All the food we ordered was good and authentic, but it isn't the best Peruvian food I've had. I would say though, their portions are extremely generous. You can definitely split one Lomo Saltado, their signature dish, with two adults.
The parking lot is small and can be easily full. It is also probably one of the tightest parking lots I've seen, so beware of bad drivers dinging your car. It can get really busy with multiple families waiting outside. We waited almost an hour! However, the service is great once you're in. They're fast, friendly, and the food is served quickly. Expect to pay $30-40 per person (that's if you order your own items).
A staple. A must. The green sauce is heavenly and I just always go for the same lomo saltado. Lots of parking around the neighborhood or try the lot.

Hands down the best meal of thr trip. There was no way I was gonna be in LA not eat there. My family was so happy. And so was I, perfection doesn't change.
I've been coming here for years, the customer service is amazing and the only thing that changes is the prices. Definitely come here. We came on a Friday and we waited 40 mins for a table
Great Peruvian food. The wait was over an hour, but worth the wait. Portions are surprisingly big. Lomo saltado, ceviche mixto, and Tallerin saltado where on point. Highly recommend.
Great food! Lomo saltado is not to be missed! Would love to come here again!
DELICIOUS! Hands down my favorite Peruvian spot in SoCal.
The food is amazing, the portions are generous and the service is spot-on. I've been coming here for years and the food is consistently delicious. This is a hole in the wall, so presentation isn't their forefront but taste definitely is! Side note: parking can be a bit tricky, try parking a block down.
