Looked online for best pancake spots near me, and this place was right down the street.
Amazing service, friendly warm atmosphere, and the food was great. Thank you so much.
This was the best BLT I have ever had, the bacon was crisp with so much flavor. Simply fabulous, I will be back next time I visit LA :)
Oh and the fries were fabulous as well.
Just a pleasure all around. Good food, good prices, everyone is friendly....worth the drive from the Valley. Reminder to self...go more often...
Great breakfast and lunch place - they don't do dinner, so go mid-day!
The best breakfast in town. The quality of the food is just amazing and so is the service and the owner is wonderful!
Amazing food - great service - good industry breakfast/lunch spot!
Great atmosphere; nice family owners. Giants fans too, in the heart of West Los Angeles. Bacon, egg whites, and buckwheat pancakes for my birthday brunch together with one of their world-famous biscuits. What could be better?
Always the best place to have breakfast in my neighborhood.
This is a special place, with special people that make great food. The O'Groats don't only like to cook and serve, they love to host. It is by far the most welcoming place with the best breakfast around.
Nobody makes a better breakfast in L.A. Period. And you always feel welcome. Thanks Paul and his gang for delivering, every time I come.
The food is delicious and it's such a warm and friendly atmosphere! John O'Groats is one of my favorite places to eat in LA!
This was my favorite place to go for breakfast when I lived in Century City. Now, I'm down in SD and I really miss this spot!
Delicious, friendly, quick service and coffee while you wait! One of my new favorites!
One of my favorite places - the best food, and the best people!
Forget ihop, forget any other breakfast place in LA, this family-owned restaurant is a must-visit. Gatekeeping this place should be illegal.
Amazing place to eat for breakfast and/or lunch. All the menu items are so delicious, and they have low-cal and gluten free options available too. Not sure why so many people complain about a “high price point” here - to put it into perspective, IHOP’s 2eggs 2pancakes 2bacon is $14.29, here the same thing with bigger pancakes is 14.75, so you’re getting far beyond the value for your buck. Everywhere else the quality is either not as good or is way more expensive.
I really recommend their butterscotch pecan biscuits which are done perfectly, great crust on the outside and hot gooey and fluffy on the inside. Their fried chicken honestly exceeded our expectations, the batter is so crispy and light and the chicken is always juicy. We always get the cheddar bacon waffle with it to make our own chicken and waffles. The owners and serves are all so lovely as well, you can really tell they love their work.
Updated review, This place continues to be an excellent spot for breakfast. Friendly staff, clean and spacious and the food is served quickly and hot. The menu has many options, including gluten-free and egg whites only. The omelettes, pancakes, potatoes and biscuits are all delicious.
Wonderful breakfast!! Definitely try the biscuits…. They paired well with butter and jelly or with an egg plate. Just be careful finding a place to park but then again that is in most places in LA.
A really delicious breakfast location, with great service, but a bit too inflated pricing. As many other reviews have mentioned it is overly pricey, however, that’s really common in Los Angeles. They have a lot of great options on the menu, and I can tell that there are many locals that constantly dine in the restaurant because this morning when we went, it was very crowded and there were many people waiting in front of and behind us. There is no parking lot so you will have to find street parking, which isn’t too difficult in this part of town.
They are only open for breakfast and lunch, but today was our first time dining in, and we chose brunch. Everything we ordered was very good and I would definitely go back in the future to try their lunch options as well. Today we ordered Eggs Benedict, which was good , but the hash brown side was fantastic. I highly recommend the hashbrowns. I got a side of avocado and it was about a half of a half of the avocado, so I wish that side was a fair portion. We also tried the Cheddar and Bacon Biscuits, which were honestly very good and worth getting.
Overall a very good breakfast spot, although a bit too pricey for what you get in return. I would recommend and try again in the future, although wish their pricing was more in line with other breakfast places close by.
This place is 100% legit. Awesome service, quick food, beyond tasty. We were visiting fr Canada and this did not disappoint.
It's a family run business, with a family vibe. Everyone is welcome and made to feel like part of the family.
The owners are so lovely, there's a story behind the restaurant that is so lovely about the husband and wife that started the business that everyone would to love to hear.
The son who runs the business now (with his lovely mum popping now again to talk with everyone) is so nice, very jolly person and his personality is so contagious.
Everytime I visit LA on holiday with my husband its the first place we ever go for breakfast, we love it that much. The menu is full of options and everything tastes like old school family cook food and recipes (makes you feel like your home).
Oh and you have to get the freshly made for you Biscuits, they are amazing.
We absolutely love the place and wish we lived in LA, to come here every day.
Great place for breakfast or lunch. We had the fried chicken lunch, it tasted fresh and it was nice and hot. It was served with cole slaw and french fries which were very good. The other item ordered was the turkey burger. It was cooked well and very flavorful also fresh and hot. There's not many parking spaces so you might have to find street parking. ALL in all a delicious lunch.
Pancakes are fabulous!!! I had Pancakes, scrambled eggs and chicken sausage. Their chicken sausage is yummy. It was the first time since the late 80s visiting there. I saw the people beside us were eating these incredible looking biscuits with butter and jam. I looked at the menu for them and they need 20 minutes to be served. They must be baked to order. Next time I am trying the biscuits!
An absolute gem. We had an amazing experience from the very beginning. Super delicious breakfast (with a lot of great vegan options and substitutions), genuinely friendly staff& owner, and very cute decor and patio. It had such a unique and friendly vibe which is rare to find in LA. I can't wait to be back soon.
This is definitely one of the best breakfast places in town. Decades ago I used to come here every weekend. It was a small shop then, but it has continued to expand and is now a great place. The taste has not changed. The prices have gone up a bit though.
