This restaurant has to be one of my best sushi finds in Little Tokyo. The quality of the fish they use here is super freakin' fresh and the cuts of the fish and other seafood are all cut into very generous portions.
We first ordered the Sashimi - Set A which was a lot! We were surprised how it included so much, and yes we had leftovers lol so I decided to cook all of the seafood the day after. I think the sashimi plate is good for sharing within 2-3 people the most.
After finishing our sashimi, we proceeded to ordering more food - sushi! Okay this we must admit, we were completely blown away by the quality of the fish, the freshness and cleanliness and of course the taste. The size of the sushi is HUGE and by the time we finished our sushi plate, we were really full and said that we could've just ordered the sashimi and that was it. Nevertheless, we enjoyed everything while we were devouring the fresh and seafood-y goodness we were having.
Thank you, Sushi Komasa!
PS: Our young, male server was also very nice and made our whole dining experience very pleasant! We will definitely add this place to our favorites now.
Small cozy Japanese eatery in Little Tokyo. Food and service were good. Sashimi was fresh and rolls were delicious. Come early to avoid waiting in line. We got there right after they opened and were able to sit down right away. By the time we were leaving, people were waiting outside.
Fresh and tasty sushi place. They are very friendly to have us large pieces of sashimi. The plaza also have a 2 hour validation parking for customers.
Yes authentic yes! This places fills up as soon as it opens. With room for about 20 guests along the sushi bar and at the tables, this restaurant wins with authentic feels.
The wonderful staff members and sushi chefs are Japanese and speak Japanese to each other, so you teleport to Japan during your meal.
Price wise, I was impressed. Expect to pay around $30 per person if you’re just going with sashimi and sushi. They have meal deals too and a hot item menu. Giant portions of sashimi. They are not shy here.
Green tea was rich and yummy, had delicious tea leaf sediments to swirl around.
The clam miso soup hit the spot. For $5, you can get a nice sized bowl of miso with about 8 medium clams in it.
Parking is street or at parking lots around Little Tokyo.
I am literally crying right in front of the chef since I’ve just learnt that Komasa sushi is closing soon and this is, most likely, our last visit.
Our favorite place. We’ve been coming to h during almost every month during the last two years. We love everyone who is working here.
This is so sad!!!! But I wish all of you guys to start a new chapter in your life! Thank you for your hard work and thank you for being so welcoming to us every time we came!
I am going to miss you <3
P.S. my last and the most unforgettable sushi
Solid Japanese food, coming from someone who has had alot of japanese food and been to Japan 4 times.
Sushi is well-made, but the sushi rice could be tastier. Their sashimi could also taste fresher. They have bento sets that cost around $17, choosing between two main meats (Sashimi, tempura, teriyaki chicken and stewed beef) . They also have their signature komasa set ($21) that comes with teriyaki chicken, tempura and couple slices of sashimi. They also have many different cuts of fishes that can be made into sushi/maki/roll of your preference.
Been here on two occasions. Once around 6pm and the other around 8pm, both on weekdays. Waiting time is around 10-15mins earlier the evening and maybe 30mins later in the evening.
My favorite sushi place thus far. Restaurant is small so they cannot pack too many people in. Can be a long wait but well worth it if you are not starving by then. Sashimi is fresh and very tasty. Not fishy at all! Great servers. Always refill my tea or water with little or no prompting.
I have been here twice on a week night. The service staff are great (thanks Yuki) and the wait is never too long despite being a very popular Japanese restaurant (<15 mins). Their prices are very reasonable for an establishment in Little Tokyo. I'd recommend this place if you're in the area. I definitely plan to come back.
My most favorite sushi/sasimi place. Super fresh, sweet shrimp is fantastic. The texture of their squid is pretty unique that you cannot find anywhere else. 100% recommended.
Chirashi and Ankimo are one of the best overall. Service and food quality are definitely 4 plus stars. They keep the menu simple which we like. Wait time NZ parking could be a hassle but it’s worthy.
Everything was so fresh!!! Great price for the amazing quality! But be prepared to wait in the line. We waited around 45 min.
I definitely recommend the spicy tuna roe, the fatty tuna sashimi (first pic) and the japanese-tea salmon with rice (last pic)!
For our visit to LA, my friends and I were looking for some fresh uni and sushi, but we didn’t want to break the bank. We were walking around Little Tokyo, on our way to Daiso (where we broke the bank), when we passed by Komasa Sushi. They had a deal for sashimi that would feed 3-4 people for $70, so it was perfect for four ladies. We decided to come back after our shopping spree and have dinner there. We only had to wait about 15 minutes on a Saturday at 7. The place is pretty small though, so if you don’t want to wait, I’d recommend coming early.
The sashimi set came with four pieces each of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, red snapper, squid, octopus, albacore tuna, and two pieces each of uni and shrimp. The fish was great, but I didn’t care for the squid, which had a weird texture, or the octopus, which was too chewy. The uni was great. We also ordered a fatty tuna roll, a yellowtail scallion roll, and some uni sushi. I feel like I’ve definitely had better sushi in NYC, but for the price we paid here for the quality, you really can’t complain.
I’d recommend getting some rolls and uni sushi, instead of the sashimi platter. I guess I’m just a typical Asian who needs their rice!
Super delicious sushi, food and super nice kind staff. Loved it I have willingly waited hours before covid for a table but you can do takeout and they did make a mini spot for dine out. Its very good best sushi spot I have found I loved the miso and the teriyaki chicken. Spicy tuna is spot on.
Nice Sushi with reasonable price
Feel like we have sushi in Japan
Sushi here is as good as it is in Tokyo. Fast and friendly service. Fish is very fresh. House sake is great as well. Expect to wait if coming around dinner time but worth the wait.
Fresh - if you want to try Sushi this place one of recommendation in LA little tokyo
I've been here twice, one with a party of two & another with a party of 10 & on both occasions, they've been great to get us a table. For the party of 10 we tried to RSVP, but they open at 5:30pm, hence it's hard to get a hold of them throughout the morning. So, we had to be at their location by opening time to get accommodate & already a small crowd/line started to form outside their doors. Which explains because their food is DELICIOUS! In the end, my group & I were pleased with the accommodations made for us. Also, they give you 2hrs of validation parking, which is a bonus!
One of the best sushi place in jtown! The fish are fresh and cut are fantastic.
