Too bad they will close this location, but they will move to middle west LA. Good luck, guys! 🥰 Every dish is great, we had the entire menu 😂, not all at one time, but we came to this place several times and tried everything. The pizzas are great, the appetizers are very tasty, but our favourite was - as we call it - “Live tiramisu” (the coffee and the cream are poured in front of you). 🤤🤤 it’s a cozy, friendly place, where you have a good chat with the owner or the manager. Try White Dog (2007 red wine!!)💃🏻🍷🍷 and italian prosecco 🥂🥂
A special find- great service, extraordinary food, a beautifully thought out menu with soul and flare. The tiramisu is as unmissable as everyone suggests.
Don't be put off by its mini mall location!
Nice little patio and cozy inside setup.
Arugula salad was delicious, great selection of pizzas on a sourdough crust. Potato bacon and rosemary was a hit.
Good wine list with interesting choices!
My server was awesome, brought me a tasting of wines to help me decide what to have with dinner.
I’ve wanted to check out South End for a while because it was highly recommended. Every time I would try to make my way out there, something always came up. It was annoying! Haha, But thank goodness I made it!
While driving around doing errands, I was getting hungry and thought that today was the day to check out South End! I phoned in and spoke with a nice guy named Enzo. I asked what he recommended, and he said I should get their most popular pizza, the Kenney Pizza, which has: Crushed tomatoes, Burrata, basil pesto, and monini EVOO. He also recommended getting the Farro Salad which has: Arugula Cherry Tomatoes, Pesto no pine nuts, Pecorino Cheese, and Onions. Everything sounded amazing, so I went ahead and got both.
When I arrived, I was helped immediately by Francesco. While waiting for him to bring out my order, I glanced at the restaurant. It was small, but they offered both outdoor and indoor seating. The outdoor area is nicely done and seemed like a great area to eat.
When it was time to finally dig in, I took a bite of the pizza and YUM, and it was really, really good. The flavors really worked well together, and the crust was mm mm mm! Now the salad… I too was so good! I never really had a salad with fennel, but it worked well with the arugula and balsamic. Next time, I’ll probably ask for more balsamic because I love extra dressing!
I would love to come back and dine in to get the whole experience. I look forward to bringing my hubby for a night out and trying other items on the menu. I’m glad South End was recommended to me, or else I probably wouldn’t even have known it existed.
Thank you again, Francesco and Enzo! I’ll be back! :)
My wife and I are from Denver, but hit up South End every time we are in LA! We have visited 5 times over the past 3 years. My brother discovered this place when they first opened, and it is always a treat. The owners, Enzo and Mario, are awesome and happy to chat and share some wine. They have a reasonable corkage fee, and some gems on (and off) the wine list! Haven't seen anymore of the '96 Barolos, but don't be afraid to ask!
The place is tiny and seating scarce, especially on a Friday or Saturday night, so we usually call ahead to reserve seating. The lighting is dim, but adds to the atmosphere. On a busy night it is loud, but has a lot of energy.
Service is friendly but can get a bit slow, but it's part of the charm. We come here for the experience and they never rush you out the door.
Food is phenomenal, I've been gluten free for 5 years, and this is by far the best gf pizza I've had. It actually tastes like a great pizza! Everyone else says the gf is nearly as good as the normal pizza. The tart is fantastic and gf as well, beat salad is great... We have never had a bad dish.
I'm getting hungry just thinking about it, can't wait to visit again!
Love the ambiance. Understated and cozy, just off the main part of Abbot Kinney. The main entrance is actually on the other side in a strip mall type thing.
We made a reservation online and they were running a bit behind so they brought out some wine. What an excellent way to pass by time. Loved this touch.
More wine was offered as we sat. Our server was fantastic, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He brought out four wines for us to try before we ultimately settled on one.
Pizzas were pretty good. I’d probably give it a 4/5 because the crust didn’t live up to the chewy preferences that I have. The mushroom was probably my fave, district 12 was pretty good (had this one on gluten free crust - $4 extra), and High something was also quite tasty.
Great food, great service, great times.
Excellent! Had dinner with my son here the other night and I have to say, the burrata was excellent and the pizze were simply outstanding. High quality produce and preparation that took us right back to Italy. Thoughtful wine list with some good Italian representation that will cater to a broad range of palates and appetites for adventure.
Absolutely a lovely evening during the week with delicious food. We enjoyed a meal outdoors with my older parents abs young daughter. It is fab to have such a great restaurant that caters to all generations without simplifying the menu. The beet salad was devoured by all before I could take a photo and the pizzas we equally enjoyed. The live music was a real treat as well. So happy to see this place has survived the pandemic. We remember it from when it had first opened and it has sustained the same high quality of service and ingredients. We highly recommend this hidden LA restaurant.
Southend is always a nice space to come to. Photo of Tiramisu and the Vstar pizza. Mauricio makes a wonderful meal, so much love in his food. Mario you have a wonderful space.
Great atmosphere and crowd inside (don’t be stuck up about the being in a former strip). Delicious pizza with fresh authentic ingredients (my mushrooms and chilli were bursting with flavour) and a perfect thin crust. Huge wine selection and my St Helena Chardonnay was a perfect pair to the pizza. And best of all, the owner (Italian man) was so considerate that my wife had a sore throat that he ran next door and got her a cup of tea. A+ service and hospitality- highly recommended.
A hidden gem for sure !
Great ambiance ✨
Delicious pizza with the best dough and amazing wine ❤️
I Will definitely be back.
The truffle made my mouth water. 🤤
Customer service was 💯
I really enjoyed this place. This was our second visit. The first was when we randomly stopped by during a visit from Sacramento. Anyway, we enjoyed three pizzas here, namely the Cabrillo, Ghostown, and Venus. My personal favorite was the Ghostown. Their wine selection is also great, including their house wines, which are specially made for them and South End branded. I won't fail to stop by anytime we're in the LA area.
The pizza was very good, they offer a nice selection of wine. Good experience overall, friendly staff, good food. Good, and kind of hipster vibe.
Some of the best pizzas I've ever had. The toppings were delicious and the crust was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They got served quick too.
It can get a little noisy in here when it's crowded but it's worth it.
Don't let the area and strip mall fool you this place has great pizza.
Authentic Neapolitan pizzas at the intersection of Abbot Kinney and Washington on the southern edge of Venice in Los Angeles. The food in this small pizza place is just drop dead gorgeous and the wine selection outstanding. The place is quite small, but the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. The Customer service is excellent, very attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
Intimate settings, incredible food - the sourdough pizza crust is divine. Vegan options available. Truly incredible!!!
I almost didn’t want to write a review cuz this place gets packed and I wanna keep it a secret. Food is amazing. Great wines. The staff is friendly and informative.
