After visiting my mom at the Montecito Heights Healthcare center my wife and I were hungry and craving for pizza. Then I did my research on my Yelp I found a great pizza place on Figueroa St couple minutes away from center. This part of stretch of Figueroa St is know as restaurants row tons of restaurants on the Figueroa St. I told my wife let's go Folliero"s Italian food and pizza we headed there.
We park behind the restaurant this night is busy night for all the restaurants on Figueroa St. We step and waited then they called my name our table was ready then waiter hand us the menu then we saw in saw print it's CASH ONLY then I went across the street at the liquor store to get cash at a ATM. Just came on the right time my wife started to order.
We agree to order before I left to get cash,we ordered the antipasto, lasagna, garlic bread and the pizza we ordered the Margherita pizza the classic pizza. First they brought the antipasto and garlic bread we grab some of antipasto amazing antipasto great flavors like the cheese especially it have fresh mozzarella in the antipasto
The ham and salami were very good and add flavor to the salad we enjoy the antipasto.
The garlic was good and then they brought the lasagna we both share the meal and the lasagna was incredible good great flavors in sauce and cheese was good and cheesy and stretchable it was a heartily meal we both enjoy the lasagna. Finally the Margherita pizza we both grab a slice one bit we feel we were in New York and have an incredible pizza we know how New York style pizza are we love. The staff are very friendly always a smile. We need to come back again and try different items.
This is a great Italian restaurant for take out. The back entrance seemed a little strange but the workers were friendly and right to business. It is only cash for payment so be prepared for pick up. But the food was yummy! Pizza and pasta was great and the garlic bread was also quite tasty. Maybe next time I’ll be able to sit down!
I have been coming here since I was a child. My grandpa started taking me as a kid, and took my grandma, mom, and her siblings since the 80’s. It is so delicious and each time it never disappoints! The ingredients are always so fresh. We always order pizza, salad, and the lasagna, which comes with garlic bread. The flavors are out of this world. I like that the lasagna doesn’t have ricotta cheese, but it has sausage and mozzarella cheese which is better on mi opinion. The waiters are so very friendly, and efficient! They even remember me, now that I’m 33! It’s a must try! CASH ONLY. It’s worth it.
My food was good I enjoyed everything about it. The breaded chicken has good flavor and the veggies taste buttery to me. The service when we walked in was not the best. Once we were seated everything was better. Not attentive but the attitude was much better. The place is really busy. Phone calls, people waiting to be seated, people picking up orders and people sitting at the table. The place is loud and small so patience is the keyword lol it's a casual place not fancy but chill to have some good food with the fam or friends. Parking in the back was full so we had to park on the street. It's overall an ok place.
The pizza, pasta and salads are all delicious. Have been coming here for years and the food never disappoints. Love coming here. The service is always great as well. Only do bring patience on the weekends as you might have to wait for a table.
Picked up a large order of pizzas to go for a small get-together while visiting the Highland Park area. Ordered 7 large pizzas ranging from the Deluxe, Vegetarian, Margherita, and Cheese. Also, ordered a few Antipasto salads and Garlic breads.
If you call, be ready to order as they're very busy and want to take your order quickly. However, they are very thorough in confirming your order, price, and estimated time. For my large order, they quoted 45 minutes which was exactly right as I arrived 45 minutes later as they were packing my last pizzas.
As far as the pizzas, it's a classic Neapolitan pizza which you see them making by hand and cooking in the oven behind them. Pizza was large, thin, had a perfect charred crisp, and made with fresh ingredients. Pizza tasted just as good as it looked. I personally preferred the Deluxe, but all were equally as flavorful and consistently made. I can see why this has been a neighborhood favorite for many years.
I’ve been coming here for years and every time they never fail me in the taste and quality of the food! I always love to celebrate my birthday with the best Italian food I’ve ever had! I am not doing justice by writing this review, it is much better that you do try it. You really can’t describe this place with just words...
This place has been my family’s go to place for 40 years, it was my parent pizza spot when we were young. I continue the tradition and took my friends and wife there for our celebrations. My friends in turned have taken there families as well. The atmosphere and food my absolute favorite spot for pizza in the Los Angeles area.
Been coming here since I was a kid. The quality and portions have not changed one bit to the best of my knowledge. This place is run by some of the fastest and most professional individuals I've ever seen operate a restaurant, and their dedication is shown in more ways than one. I will continue coming here even if I have to fly here when I move out of state.
Solid pizza place. I reminds me of slice places in Queens from growing up. They're not overpriced like many others in the area. I know it's so basic but their pepperoni pizza is delicious. If you in the mood for some old school pizza try these guys. I think it's cash only and you have to call to order.
I'm a Highland Park native. And ever since highschool I've been coming here and believe me it has always been the same excellent quality of food. Their spaghetti and meatballs are Fire lol my three year old loves em also.
Good price for amazing food, I'm proud to say that Folliero's is an authentic HLP gem.
Best Italian food in Los Angeles. Try Folieros. You won't be disappointed. Great pizza and pasta meals.
I really liked, the Pizza was delicious, very nice waitress, Everything was really good.
I had only one recommendation:
please don't cook the Basil with the pizza, the basil gets bitter, better if you put the basil when you serve the pizza, taste better.
I've been eating the pizza here for over 35 years. The style has changed, but the pizza is still great. I'm glad they kept the fantastic hand spun crust. Years ago they used to put the toppings before the cheese. I'm ok with the change. They also used to use canned mushrooms, now it's fresh and gotta give them a big thumbs up on this change. I've only had the pasta one or two times and it was good. I'll have to come more frequently so I can try more than just the pizza.
Bought a mushroom and sausage pizza for my elderly friend I'd help take care of. Had a piece of it cold one of the best pieces of pizza I've ever eaten $13 for a medium unbelievable I can't wait to go back and get a pizza on my own!
This place is incredible! It has a very old-world / New York Italian feel. The food is really good and the service is super fast, s it’s not usually very busy for lunch. The most impressive part is that the prices are unbelievably low, even for East LA. Highly, highly recommend.
