Very good bakery !!!. Mari and I had a chance to stop in "La Mascota Bakery" and we just loved the Pan Dulce, along with the very fresh Billio Bread ! we really wanted to sit down but there wasn't vey much room, tables and chairs seemed to be used by all the locals. We also ordered Beef Red Chili & Green Pork Tamales and they to were very good. Going in to La Mascota really brought back a lot of memoires for me being I lived in the neighborhood back in the late 60's to mid 80's. If you haven't been here yet you must give it a try.........

Some of the BEST LA Tamales. Try them. I've tried other place for tamales and they almost always disappoint me. I bring La Mascota pork, chicken and cheese tamales for breakfast to my office occasionally and everyone says they are the best they've ever had.
Yummy sweet breads and Mexican pastries. Also, the homemade tamales, tortillas, chips, and champurrado are must haves at this spot. I might be a little biased though. I did live a block away through out my childhood and teen years.
Mexican Tamales are very tasty. Parking can be tricky during peak hours.
this was an overall great panaderia! i think their hours are great because i got here at around 6am when most other places aren't even open and got immediately served. i received great and quick service from the lady behind the counter. the pan dulce i ordered was still warm and didn't last long in the bag once i stepped out. i'll be returning to try some other items on their menu.
I LoVed this place. I don’t know how I went all my life living in LA without knowing about it. The pan dulce is well made and everything I’ve ordered tasted authentically Mexican. The bakery is clean and I appreciate the beautiful embroidered uniforms the lady employees wear.
The machaca con huevo torta was delicious and had just the right amount of spice from chopped jalapeños. Bread was made fresh.
I’ll go back again and again!
Sweet and hard working staff too
Love the tamales chicken and cheese they are delicious. The only thing I would suggest from mascota is to let their customers get updated on their inventory because it’s very crucial to get to the counter and be told they don’t have the item that they want l!
Part of East Los Angeles’ Boyle Heights neighborhood since 1952, La Mascota Bakery has survived much, its sale to Francisco Aparicio from the Salcedo family in 2015 seeing sustained quality that has continued through the pandemic as a carry-out only operation with no signs of falling off.
Open daily at 5:00am, and recently re-starting the kitchen closed by COVID-19, it is immediately upon entry that eyes widen to an array of Pan Dulce, a brief queue finding bilingual staff ready to describe everything from Concha to Cake and Torta to Tamale.
All scratch-made daily, a team of employees in PPE visible throughout a humble space with nothing to hide, it was after a moment of indecision that nine items were requested, the $17 tally a bargain as Tamales are $2.19 each with moist Masa and ample inclusions such as Chicken, Pork or Pineapple.
Taking sweets to-go, though a still-warm Concha did not make it past the parking lot, Guava Empanada are well-filled with Jam while the unlabeled Pastry with Cream Cheese features Dough with a bit more tooth and more restrained sweetness.
Also offering Cakes whole or by the slice, confettied Cortadillo softer than most beneath a thin layer of Frosting, Tres Leches on this day came studded with Strawberries while weighty Bread Pudding mimics La Mascota’s Dulce Tamale utilizing Cinnamon, Raisins and Pineapple.
