I've been coming here since 2006 and will always be my favorite Sushi place. Anyone I have brought who have been to Japan, feels like they have step back there. Chef Mako and Meyumi have been the most amazing hostess that make you feel like part of the family.

Best Sushi I ate for a long long time. Fantastic high quality fish and absolute gorgeous young Ladies for service. Eat there, when you are in town. I will do it again when I am back.

Best sushi in LA. Every year I visit LA I make a point in eating here at least once. More than 6 years and it has not dissapointed once.

I worked in the L.A.'s Civic Center area from 2002-2008. Back then I often patronized the restaurants in Weller Court, and was invariably pleased and impressed with the quality of the fish at Mako Sushi, and the gracious, joyous way that Chef Mako and his wife Miyuki, made their guests feel welcome, even during the harried pace of the Civic Center lunch-hour rush. So it was a great pleasure to discover, once i started working in the neighborhood again, that they had not shut down (as I had heard, but simply cut back on their schedule) and were open for business (from 530pm to 10 pm Wednesday through Sunday nights). As soon as I had the chance, I ate there again, and was amazed to discover that Mako Sensei and Miyuki not only remembered me, but warmly welcomed me back into their 'embrace.' ... and the food was great as ever!

lovely and kid friendly, Mako-San generously helps both my kids explore the flavors of Japan, and the nice ladies in the front of the house patiently speak Japanese with both of them (they study it at school).
