The Food is always amazing especially their combo appetizers. The Potato skins are the best around and their seafood platter is very reasonable with a very large portion and absolutely deliscious!
Was craving some good full belly clams but too exhausted to drive to the coast.... I googled "best fried clams, lowell" and first up Captain John's..... all this time, a hidden gem under our noses. So so good, even down to the cole slaw!! Everything was awesome, they get fresh seafood from Boston every morning.
What a great place. Had the baked shrimp, haddock and scallops. It was the best I ever had, the flavor was out of this world. All at a great price.
Me and rob usually go every friday night.I went for lunch with 2 friends.always great food and service from the cooks,waitresses,bar staff.can watch different events on tv and keno.Thank you to the owners for always treating their customers with open arms.you have great staff. See you Friday.
OMG clams / seafood was awesome . I googled good seafood in Lowell , Captain Johns came up. Skeptical ,I went, ordered the fried clams and were blown away ! Owner was very nice. When I am craving seafood I am nailing Captain Johns...!!!!!
No word of a lie. Last night I had the best 2 way baked. Haddick in scallops with rice and coleslaw.
I eat here on the regular but last night was simply amazing.
Local place. Really good food. Only simple beer on tap. We really enjoys and will definitely be going back next time we are in Lowell. We celebrated my wife's birthday they brought us a little birthday cake and sang and the cake was good and enough for several people. I had clams. My wife haddock and daughter combo wjth scallops. All were great. The slaw was great. Try it
After reading the review in the Lowell Sun, my friend and I decided to give Captain John's a try. Having grown up in the Highlands, I have driven by, but never dined there.
Well, what a pleasant surprise! Excellent service, amazing whole belly clams topped off with a heap of onion rings. Way better then Brown's or Markey's. I understand there's no ocean nearby, but comparing food to food, Captain John's comes out #1.

Captain John's is amazing. Its a hole in the wall local bar with amazing food. Maria, the owner is so welcoming amd friendly. She always knows everyones name and she goes out of her way to make sure you are happy and having a good time. I grew up going here. It will always be my favorite bar in Lowell.

This is a hidden gem. Love the cozy atmosphere... the staff are awesome... and the food is amazing. This trip I tried the drunken haddock 2way with shrimp and crumbs.... every bite was amazingly delicious!!! I haven't had a meal here I didn't love.
The very best freshest seafood delivered daily from Gloucester. All the food is fantastic! Burgers, steak & cheeses, sausage peppers🫑 & onion subs. Delicious Cole slaw, homemade Tatar sauce, you seriously can not beat it. Breakfasts are the bomb!! You never leave hungry that's for sure. Family owned and operated forever.♡
Went on a Monday, so there were plenty of seats. We each had seafood, I had the 3 way with fried cams and my girlfriend had the 2 way. Each item, the fish, scallops, shrimp and clams were delicious. They were cooked perfectly with the right amount of crackers. The sides, mashed potatoes and broccoli, were also cooked perfectly. We will definitely return.

I've lived in Lowell for 20 years and after driving from here to the coast for fresh seafood, I've discovered HEAVEN on Westford St. One of the hidden gems so close to home..HUGE portions of seafood, cooked to perfection, fresh and tasty...just like the coast!
If you haven't tried Captain John's seafood, you aren't living! Delicious and worth every cent! Seafood platter could easily serve 2..if you wanted to share that is🤣🤣 Try it!! You won't be disappointed❤🍀
It's an older, dark bar atmosphere, but the food is exceptional. Light and crispy batter fried haddock, shrimp and onion rings with sweet delicious coleslaw!
