My husband, daughter and I had dinner this past Friday night at My Dog Duke's Diner. First of all, there is a lot of parking available for this restaurant so that is a big plus for downtown. The atmosphere was great. Wonderful bars -alcohol and coffee bar. The food was amazing. Great home style food in big portions. I had the fried chicken, green beans and red potatoes. I got two huge breasts with a delicious batter, a perfect size of green beans and potatoes. My husband got the steak , smashed potatoes and greens. He grills a lot and we usually don't get steak out because it never measures up to his steak but this time was different. He had seen the picture reviews and decided to try the steak. He said it was so delicious and prepared just as he requested and that it was the best steak he has ever gotten anywhere in Lynchburg and surrounding areas. He also said that they have the best collard greens he has ever had. My daughter got the French Dip sandwich which she really enjoyed. The bread for her sandwich was so delicious looking and looked so much better than any sub roll I have ever seen. She got a piece of chocolate cake to take home. It was a HUGE piece of cake (like 3 slices in one chunk) and she said she would come back just for the cake. Our service was perfect. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely make this one of our main places to eat.
We were in Downtown for business today and decided to grab lunch. This is our 1st time at My Dog Duke's Diner. I got the Chicken Sausage Skillet and a Mocha from the Espresso Bar and my husband got the Pastrami Hash Skillet. This place is beautiful inside, everyone helps everyone with their tables and the food is amazing! We will definitely be returning. I highly recommend!! They are open 7am-9pm. They also have their own parking garage right beside it and seating outside. Dogs are welcome on the patio!
Three of us went and each had a different salad as our dinner. They were big enough to split and quite good. Very fresh greens and veggies. Chicken or salmon added was cooked perfectly. This place is ultra clean and neat with attentive wait staff. Parking downtown is sometimes a headache but they have a large garage right next door, so no issue. We will go back for sure!
We were in town for a wedding and stopped here for brunch with the family. We loved it! The food was delicious. I enjoyed the egg white scramble with fruit and grits on the side. Great vibe and awesome service plus it’s in walking distance to where we were staying at the Craddock Terry!! Thank you!
My husband and I ate here for the first time last night. I got the French Dip and my husband got the Party Melt. Both were truly excellent! The service was great as well! This is a place we will definitely put on our top ten list.
Decided on a whim to try it, after having been curious for awhile and I’m SO glad we did. The food is to die for and the atmosphere is SO nice. It’s such a nice change of pace for Lynchburg to have a Diner atmosphere. Also, as a labrador mama I love seeing the pictures of Duke all over the place! Reminds me of my baby! � We will be back and will suggest to friends!
Some of the BEST breakfast food in Lynchburg! The skillet meals are to die for and the coffee is always delicious! If you haven’t, go!!

Amazing food I had the Eggs Benedict and it was perfect. My server Jordan is fantastic!
This was our first time eating at Duke's Diner and it definitely did not disappoint! Several people suggested it to us as we are visiting so we had to give it a try! Wonderful atmosphere, kind and attentive staff as well! (Even the servers working other tables were talktative and sweet!) The poutine was so delicious we barely left room for our actual meals! My partner and I felt very comfortable here and even left with a baseball cap! We will definitely be visiting again when we come back into town!
This is absolutely my new favorite spot to eat. The chicken and waffles are amazing. I've NEVER had a better waffle in my life. The avocado toast is really good too. Price is very reasonable and the staff great!!! Must try of you haven't already.
Wow! What a great little place to get breakfast! Great service and fresh, tasty choices on the menu. I had the Strawberry French Toast and it came with a side of Sweet Cream Cheese. So delicious! I also tried the home fries which were some of the best I've ever had!
Found My Dog Duke's Diner while on our travels and it is the perfect gem of a restaurant! The atmosphere is so inviting and welcoming. You feel right at home as soon as you walk up to the building.
The staff is very friendly and treat you like family. From the second you are greeted to the moment you leave you are treated with kindness by all of the staff.
The food is absolutely delicious. My husband ordered eggs, sausage, grits and a side of ham. I ordered the vegetarian skillet which was very flavorful and filling. The coffee was spot on perfect and they keep your mug full.
I highly recommend My Dog Duke's Diner for your entire family.
Great place to dine in downtown Lynchburg VA!! I like the small cafe atmosphere of the restaurant. Our server and other staff were wonderful..extremely pleasant, attentive. The food was delicious! Large enough portions to satisfy and very tasty. The appearance of the restaurant is appealing, prime location. Beautiful decor, spacious enough to be comfortable.
Pricing is average, reasonable in my opinion. One thing I absolutely love about Duke's and several other places I have eaten is the nice heavy silverware. I love the high shine clean look, it is so much more appealing than dull, cheap looking silverware.
Haven't ate here in a while, still delicious. It was packed at lunch but we got a table for the 4 of us so it took about 30ish minutes to get our food. Also was a bit loud with music and people but what can you expect in a small packed area. Food was hot and yummy, me and another coworker had the breakfast club. Another had the omlette her way and the other had the chicken salad sandwich.
Outstanding breakfast! First time trying chicken and waffles, and the bar is set really high now! Bacon in the waffle, chicken breaded and seasoned perfectly! And the combination of the two.. "there's a party in MY mouth..."
Coffee was great, service was super!
Belgian waffle with berries was on point!
Visually as good as it tasted.
This joint is slaying breakfast. I'd give 6 stars. They are firing on all cylinders.
Edit: Had the biscuits and gravy this morning (9/29) and let me tell ya, this is a breakfast I'm VERY familiar with.. they KILLED IT!
I can't recall a time I've had better.
I know, seems like a simple thing. Gravy.. but they are clearly not made the same!
