Reviews Izakaya Japanese Food & Sushi

My husband and I tried Izakaya for the first time tonight. We pass it quite often and I had read another review some time ago on a local restaurant review site about how good it was. It's convenient since we live less than 10 minutes away too. After being greeted outside by George, who was sitting outside on the little patio talking with someone we were then promptly greeted by other employees. We were asked if we wanted to sit up front at the counter where it's more casual or in the back and we chose to be in the back where the regular tables are and their bar. Our waiter was very pleasant and helped explain what type of vegetables were included if you ordered a hibachi dish as opposed to the sushi which they also have. My husband chose the hibachi filet with fried rice ($14.99). And decided to try a little salmon Nigiri style sushi ($2.00). I ordered the steak hibachi with the fried rice ($9.99) and added medium shrimp ($6.99) to mine which came to a total of $16.98 . I too decided to order some sushi. I don't like anything raw and like it crunchy so our waiter went back and asked if they could substitute the tuna for tempura shrimp in their Crunchy Tuna Roll. I'm so glad George said they could and even offered to cook the tuna, but I opted to have the shrimp ($8.79). I drank water and he had a Coke ($2). I thought my hibachi was delicious and the shrimp was great and pleased with how many I received too. My husband enjoyed everything including his sushi. He ate all of his but I brought some of my hibachi home to enjoy for a lunch later. I like their homemade yum-yum sauce and I also like their homemade mustard sauce I like to dip my meat in it. My sushi was good too. It would've been fun to be able to watch them prepare it but it wouldn't keep me from not going back. If you've never eaten here you need to try it. I look forward to going back.

The food was awesome George and Toshiko, and Mary Jane rocked on all our orders, drinks, and cake for a party of 14 guests!! You all are the best co-workers and friends my son could ever have!!!!

Super delicious food! Although the service is terrible, the food makes up for it so I will definitely be back!!

Pleasantly surprised with this Forest sushi staple. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond to make the pick up process as easy as possible! Sushi was delicious with a solid selection on the menu. Fish was fresh. It was also delightfully reasonably priced!

The food here is amazing. My husband is not a fan of sushi like I am and the guy helped create a dish just to his taste. He loved every bite. The sushi is very fresh and very delicious! I also had the chicken ramen bowl and it blew me away. The flavor of everything was spot on. Will be going back again and again!
