I don't care what mood Olivier is in, he's a damn fine baker! I think his French mood only adds to the authenticity of his amazing baked goods. My husband and I purchased over $50 of tasty desserts and it was well worth it. The croissants and bread are very fresh, not stale. They are delicious without being overly sweet. The chocolate flavored desserts are simply mouth-watering. The drive from San Benito is well worth it for us. I like Olivier's as much as the Croissant Brioche French Bakery on Rice Blvd in Houston. Both are awesome!!!

It’s only recently I developed an appreciation for French Pastry. Unfortunately, I’ve haven’t been to France yet, so I’m basing my taste simply on places I’ve tried in the Philippines, New York City, and now McAllen, Texas. Take note the Philippines is a far place from France, but when the bakery is run by a French bakery and adjacent to the French consulate, I would hope they try to follow French standards!! As for New York, the competition is tough and there are a lot of French places to try. First impression: The prices kinda on the high side. Admittedly the size of the croissants are also bigger. I read a review in which the person observed sysco products being used which is commercial ingredients and I imagine cheaper than using regular ingredients, but I was not able to see that. The thought does take away from ambiance. Taste: IMHO, the texture and taste of the pastries are on point. The croissant had the right texture and layering and the apple tart had the right amount of sweetness. So if the bakery is using inferior ingredients,t the baker is making magic. As for ambiance, the place is really doing their best to be a cafe, and I do like the presentation of the bread in the basket. For as long as they can maintain the quality of the taste and texture, I plan to visit at times to have a croissant and try their other pastries.

I would suspect that "food hunter" is jaded on some personal level and trying to sabotage the bakery (probably his ex-wife). I've been to Le Parisien" several times and the pastries, bread and plates are splendidly delicious. And, yes, I can compare them to French authentic bakeries, because I have been to France several times. Even in Paris, this bakery would shine as exceptional!

Take a trip to this French Bakery. The decor was quaint complete with lace valances over the windows. The owner was very hospitable and spoke with a pleasant French accent. The spinach and salmon quiche was SOOOO YUMMY with wonderful pastry and cheesy goodness!!! And, the chocolate croissant was sinfully delicious! MUST GO THERE more often!

I have been to France many times. Oliver's pastry and bread is as good as anything I enjoyed there. To the person who said" the owner is rude" does not understand the French personae. Oliver deserves each of the 5 stars I gave him. Tres Magnifique.

LeParisien wasn't really fully open again a month ago I don't think...Every time I've been there the owner most cordial. They don't make cheap Mexican-style "sweet bread" but only quality French pastry, which is not going to be for 68 cents...

The pastries tasted great along with the food! The service was friendly and Olivier likes to talk to people. I enjoyed my visit with my little brother and mother.
