My husband and I grew up in McHenry, but live near Atlanta, GA now. We take trips back to our hometown every couple of years to get together with family and friends...and we always make a list of the places we need to go to and enjoy our favorite food. Riverside Bake Shop is always at the top of the list. Having been there this past week we made four trips to the bake shop! Of course we needed to get the bakers dozen for our trip home on Sunday. The sweet rolls, donuts, Danish and butter cookies are the absolute best you can get anywhere.

Riverside is the best bakery ever! I have been getting my cakes, cookies and sweet rolls there for years. Their bread is also wonderful!
Best bakery in Midwest! From the caramel pecan coffee cake to the apple fritters oh and not to mention the Bavarian cream-filled donuts and their chocolate chocolate cake Donuts everything is the bomb here you must visit if you're in McHenry right on Riverside Drive McHenrys Hidden Gem
Is there anything bad here? Always great treats, my favorite is the Vanilla long johns.

Everything we've tried is amazing and they have helped make our kid's birthday's special... the latest being a Minecraft cake and sugar cookies for our son. Have always received exceptional customer service... our favorite bakery by far!

This Bakery is the best! Just moved in the area and the donuts are huge, the coffee cakes are delicious and the staff is very knowledgeable. They carry pumpkin and apple cider donuts all year long. Yum!
Been awhile since I've been to McHenry but had to stop at Riverside bakery while here. Missed the chocolate donuts that I used to get at White hen pantry. Of course they were the same great donuts. Tried the apple fritter and they we're the best around.Thankyou Riverside bakery and please never change. Visited 5/5/22.
Absolutely Wonderful!!! They created a custom cake (made out of donuts) for my wedding and the quality blew us away. It was beautiful! Better than I had even anticipated, and somehow despite my poor descriptions they were able to design it exactly how I had imagined/hoped. On top of it all their prices were not only reasonable, but less than most other places I had looked into. Although I don't plan to ever be married again, if I or anyone else I know ever need a special cake (or donuts) I will always recommend Riverside Bake Shop! The BEST part of all is that I believe they also made the cake for my mother's wedding 30 years ago! How cool is that?!
Potato chips it's a darn good bakery and I love their pastries I love their peoples attitude but whatever you do wear a mask when you guys go in with all due respect that's what they ask for and just abide by the law but their food is fantastic you guys got to try it out
Picked up a dozen paczkis for fat Tuesdays! They were incredible, we ordered the night before and they were ready first thing Tuesday. Pictured is blueberry with whip cream and apple❤️
This is hands down my favorite bakery! The cherry turnovers, are big, flaky and the best I've ever had!!!! The cupcakes, yum!
