The lady who worked the counter upon first entering was most welcoming! Once seated Travisa was so nice! My daughter tried me chicken fingers and okra. I got the three piece wing plate with greens on the side! The slaw was so good, I also ate my daughter’s off her plate! The greens were exceptional and the beans were very tasty. Although, the chicken states it’s hot and spicy, I added lots of Louisiana Hot sauce to it. Overall friendly atmosphere. The food is worth going!

Just can't beat it! The chicken is perfectly crispy and spicy. Their ranch, honey mustard and fried foods are all good. The sides are pretty standard but you're there for the chicken anyways. I like that they've opened up paid parking in the lot next door. Sometimes crowded, but they get people in and out quickly. Prices are very fair. Good service, friendly people, love the vibes. Highly recommend.

Adding a review to Gus's is like taking your own gold to Fort Knox. Still, I pride myself as a fried chicken aficionado. If you are going and don't want to do crazy lines, I would suggest going off hours (say after 2 for lunch). I had 2 pieces of dark, greens, and beans. The two pieces of dark might be the best I've had. The chicken is thoroughly spiced (very balanced with a touch of heat), and it isn't even slightly greasy. They use peanut oil, but I'm wondering what technique they use to keep it from the skin being fatty (maybe baking soda?). The skin was perfect: crispy without being overfried, and no thick fatty spots. The greens were also excellent. They were tender, but not overcooked (overcooked being the standard). The beans were mediocre. For being their when it was almost empty, the service was pretty bad. Everyone was polite but I waited a long time to order and a very long time to get the check. Atmosphere is nothing special. But, you go for the chicken, so the rest can be overlooked.

Food tasted so good! Easily walkable from downtown and super quick to get your food (I did a walk up to-go)! Staff members are nice and informative! Restaurant is small and quaint which at times can be super busy and wait time can be long from what I saw. Portion sizes are good and affordable prices for the set meal.

We had the 2pcs breast with Mac & cheese and seasoned fries. The food was amazing, flavor, quality, presentation, and portions were on point. (Chicken has juicy, as you can see in the picture). Service was friendly and attentive. It's definitely a must visit. Will come again.

Wonderful! I stop in every time I visit Memphis! Get here right as they open or a little before to avoid a wait! My husband and I both ordered the 2 breast, 1 wing meal that comes with two sides. You’re able to substitute at no extra charge. Our waitress was incredibly today..good communication, fast service, and checked in on us! Food was delicious & served hot! Highly recommend!

As soon as I saw the sign, I new we had to try Gus’s. We stopped in after we got back from the Zoo. It was literally 1/2 block from our Airbnb. The atmosphere was really cool, service excellent and the chicken was awesome. Our server Travisha was super friendly and helpful with the menu. My wife loved the fried pickle spears and I loved the pecan pie!

I'm from Georgia. This was our second time at this chicken place. Different location. Why? Because the chicken was so good, my friend wanted to take some home to her son. When you love chicken you do whatever possible to get the good stuff. We also was leaving Memphis driving back to Georgia. Road trip!!! You cannot do a road trip without some fried chicken. I thought since it was a different location the taste and quality would be different. I was wrong. It was just the same. Made to order, hot, fresh and super juicy. It really is some good chicken.

Gavin was a doll but he doesn't listen well at all. We ordered a 2 piece he bought a 3 piece, never allow yourself to ignore a customer request. Never order the sweet tea if you like your tea sweet. The fried green tomatoes were delicious but that honey mustard sauce was so watery. Parking is crazy at this location and so is traffic so please be mindful if coming here to dine. Over all try this place just make sure you double check your order if you on a buffet.

I understood the hype for the famous fried chicken. I got a breast/ 2 wings combo and was a lot for single person. The chicken is super juicy and tender. They came with coleslaw, beans and a piece of bread. The only issue was parking. The parking next to this place wad $17 per hour. So I parked somewhere nearby and walked back here. The place is a casual spot with small tables and chairs. Not a fancy spot for families but definitely worth for the worth. The employees are kind and attentive. It’s usually busy and there’s a small wait time.

We experienced Gus’s World Famous FriedChicken for the first time today. While there wasn’t a line to get in when we got there, we did have to wait fir a table to open up (just a couple of min). We ordered a 2 piece (white) meal with breast and wing with Cole slaw and baked beans($11.50), a 3 piece tender meal ($12.50) with Cole slaw and potato salad, and a 3 piece wing meal ($12.50) with Cole slaw and baked beans. This restaurant is busy so it took a little time for our server to stop by. The chicken is of good quality and is nice and moist. It is slightly spicy, not too spicy for my Nom who doesn’t like spicy but we would have preferred even less spicy. The breading is quite thin, so not what we expected but fine. The potato salad was very tasty and chunky, baked beans were tasty and the Cole slaw was pretty good too. Our server was Renee and we never saw her hands/arms empty. She did a great job. There are several locations and this one is just a couple of blocks from Beale St and safely walkable from the area of Beale where many of the bats and restaurants are located.

Finally got to eat at Gus's, the staff was excellent and friendly, the dining area was clean and so was the bathroom. The chicken was good. If you don't like all that breading like convenience store fried chicken, then you'll be in for a treat. It reminds me of how I cook it at home. Will come again.

Chicken was impeccable as the star🌟 of a show should always be and seasoned to perfection! The chicken was hot and juicy. It was definitely worth the wait and trip. The baked beans did not disappoint either. 😋 As for the mac & cheese, it was lackluster. If you like cafeteria style mac & cheese with a somewhat thick cheese sauce, you won't be disappointed. The dessert, on the other hand, was delicious. Be sure sure to get a slice of sweet potato pie! You can have it served at room temperature or warmed up. I opted for warmed up! I do wish the crust was a little thicker, though. The wings have to be favorite thing on the menu as just about everyone ordered them! Service was good and food came in a timely fashion! You can see the cooks constantly dropping chicken (in the grease) for orders every minute. If staying downtown, you can easily get there via trolley or bus and walk 1 block.

I was slightly disappointed by the fried chicken. The spices were really good. This isn’t Nashville hot chicken. The spice blend add flavor but isn’t hot. But, I have had more flavorful and moist fried chicken elsewhere. If you are visiting town, give it a go. It’s a famous restaurant and worth a shot. The atmosphere is great. The service is speedy.

Great food, great service, good prices. The food is great so there's a little wait, but trust the food is bomb and won't take too long!
