Pork was juicy and flavorful. Great seasonings and the hot BBQ sauce met the balance of vinegar although I would have preferred it to have a bit more kick in the heat dept. the only thing I would not recommend is the nachos. Out of all the cheeses you can make pulled pork nachos, this place chooses processed “nacho cheese” which if you like stadium food more power to you.
I am looking forward to going back!
SO good! Totally recommend the BBQ lovers share plate. It fed 4 of us with food left over. Awesome southern BBQ
Had a great night, wonderful crew working there, Highly suggest get the BBQ lovers platter, well worth it platter is as big as the table and loaded
Awesome BBQ, great service and what a perfect location. Get some great Q then go listen to awesome laugh be music...
Best ribs I've ever had! The place to go on beale st. And I've tried them all.
We were looking for some great ribs and were not disappointed at the Pig on Beale. Really tasty food (we chose the sampler plate to share) with excellent service. I’m sure if you searched you could find better but the place was nice, convenient, friendly and with great food!!
It's a good place to eat. The ribs were excellent as was the pulled pork sandwich. The service was good and all I could ask for. There really isn't an atmosphere, but it's good food on Beale.
Holy crap this is good BBQ!!!! We got the Feast, there were 3 of us and we still couldn't finish it. Beat pulled pork I've ever had, fall off the bone ribs, slow smoked chicken things and drums.... And the best BBQ sauce ever. Gotta mix a whole lot of Sweet with a little Spice. Will recommend to anyone in the Memphis area.
Not sure why only 56% "like it" clearly they have a limited palate. This place was amazing! We went in based on the good reviews and the resturant did not disappoint!!! We ordered the super feast and it was good to the last bite! Ribs were fall off the bone delicious and the sauce was just icing on the cake, chicken was good, also enjoyed the potato salad and onion rings. The peanut butter pie ties it all together and service was great! Basically don't walk past this joint or your tastebuds will regret it forever!
Music, wood smoke and the smell of lively concoctions fill the air... in the midst of that neon jungle, a sign stands out from the rest. Who can possibly miss the pig in sunglasses, flexing his bicep with microphone held firmly in the same hoof? The sign reads, ‘Pork With An Attitude!’ Enter the world of The PIG on Beale . But first, allow me to take a step back...
I don't understand the poor rating?!? The ribs were off the bone tender and tasty, the sides satisfactory and the peanut butter pie a sweet slice of heaven!!
One of the best bbq spots in Memphis on Beale St. & cheap...
Great ribs and not so great sides. Ribs were delicious, falling off of the bone. We both wish we had ordered more ribs and skipped the add two sides for $5.00. I had onion rings and beans. The onion rings were of the frozen food service variety and the beans were nothing special at all. Husband had cole slaw which he said was pretty good and the beans which he doctored up with the spicy barbecue sauce. Portions on the small side for sure, 4 onion rings is a side apparently and there were 4 ribs and small container of beans. All of this served on a small plate with a piece of sliced white bread. I had water and husband had a coke. The bill for two for LUNCH $41.46 before tip. Service was fast and courteous.
I had the ribs and say outside. Watching the action on Beale street and having a great dinner was a great experience. I would go again!
Shocked to read about the poor reviews. We were greeted quickly and our orders were taken promptly. I ordered the 'jumbo' pork sandwich which sadly wasn't that huge, the side of fries and beans was $3 extra, but were good. The place wasn't spectacular and considering Memphis seems to be dying, what would you expect?
Good BBQ in a dive bar. The BBQ was pretty good. I wasn't sure what to expect from the outside, but they have competition trophies to prove they can cook. The BBQ was pretty good. Nothing fancy. Try it if you're on Beale & looking for some grub.
Mean pulled pork. Stopped by while on vacation. They do need to turn up the lighting a bit - almost eating in the dark. The pulled prok sandwich was good. I ate it with dry rub, and sampled both sauces from table on it. I preferred the vinegar sauce to the smokey bbq sauce.
BBQ HEAVEN!. I am sorry to all the others that had a bad experience because we were in love with our BBQ feast at the Pig!! IT was soooo good! We took family there on Spring Break last year and they still drool when talking about the meal we had. The service has always been just fine...nothing spectacular...but good...and the several times we have been there the food has been amazing!!! Everything that comes on the platter was fantastic..ribs, chicken, pulled pork...slurrrrp!! We all love their sauces and could almost drink them from the bottle;) Definitely give it a try and decide for yourself...hopefully you will enjoy it as much as we do!
3.3 Stars. Food = 3.5
Ambiance = 2.5
Service = 3.5
Okay but not great. I was hoping for a bit better. I can't say that I didn't like it as the food was good, but it certainly is not the best.
Good experience. Despite the negative reviews I'm seeing, my baby back rib experience was quite good actually. They were cooked well and had a great flavor... Maybe I caught them on a good night...
Good BBQ. We stopped here on our way back from New Orlean! We had our heart set on trying Neely's BBQ, but turns out they are closed on Sunday. We are glad becuase we would have missed out on Pig on Beale. It really hit the spot after a long trip and a week of partying! we got ribs and the pulled pork nachos. Perfect end to the perfect trip. We will return!
Good food. From KC and was skeptical. Was impressed! 16oz PBRs for $4. Really liked the ribs - dry smoked then glazed with a sweet glaze. Good pulled pork! Decent fries and really liked the beans with Jalapeno's.... Little pricey for BBQ but it was Beale St.... And you can take a "go cup"!
Safe que. Ribs were cooked just right in terms of texture and tenderness. They're served "wet", but the sauce is solid. Could use more smoke. Pulled pork was really good. Heaps of smoke flavor throughout and the bark was tasty. Beans were flavored with onions, which I don't like. Contrary to some others' experience, the service I got was first rate. This was much better than I anticipated.
Fansmokintastic ribs!!. Our group of eight got the Super Feast platter with corn, BBQ beans, fries, two racks of ribs, bread, pulled pork, chicken, and potato salad. And it was GREAT. The ribs were so tender we were cutting them easily with a plastic knife. The sweet and spicy sauces on the table were sooo good. And the chicken was tender and super flavorful. The best family-style meal I've ever had. Without a doubt!
Ok, so it's not the place to go if you're looking for really good Memphis BBQ. But for a good price, on Beale St, it is good BBQ. I would return.
While passing through Memphis, I looked for a place to get BBQ for dinner. My husband and I tried here because he was specifically in the mood for a pulled pork sandwich. It was because I couldn't narrow down what I wanted that I got the Sampler! The pulled pork was very tender and delicious, and the chicken thighs had an incredible crunchy coating with well seasoned meat. I was slightly disappointed in the ribs, however, because while the sauce was amazing, the meat was not fall of the bone tender. I did enjoy the collard greens, which had a little bit of spice that complimented the meats well. Service was not super fast, but our food did come out quickly once we ordered. This place is not upscale by any means, in desperate need of an updating, but the food is good and worth the stop.
If your on Beale and want some bbq that’s more typical of the outlying mom and pop joints this place will give you an idea of the smaller ‘hole in the wall’ joints. 5 of the 6 in our group lined their food and one was disappointed with the bbg bologna sandwich. A thin slice of bologna on thick cut toast is sort of backwards of what you find in Memphis. Most places give you a cut at least 1/2 inch thick. The bbq was good, but the atmosphere and service not so much. Only one waitress so the service was slow, inside was run down and an annoying noisy fan was irritating and like a lot of Beale street buildings, the floor was wore out and in bad need of a good cleaning.
Best BBQ I have had in a long time. I truly enjoyed my time at The Pig On Beale. They made me feel at home and greeted me with excellent customer service.
Absolutely delicious! I wish this restaurant was in our hometown! Our server was awesome! She was welcoming, hospitable, friendly and fun! Glad we chose to try out "The Pig On Beale"!!! Highly recommend their large platter that fed our family of 4 with leftovers. So tasty!
You can smell it walking by. The food was so good! I got the jumbo pulled pork sandwich. The staff was super friendly.
The Pig on Beagle is a nonsense, bare bones BBQ place right in the heart of the Beale Street entertainment district. Don't let that dissuade you. There are a bunch of different choices on the menu, and a full bar with a number of beers on tap. The staff were very, very friendly and attentive. I'd highly recommend.
Patience is worth it! Fresh out the smoker pulled pork so tender and flavorful and the fries were the best I have had here so far! Our server Raven is fun and thoughtful and made it a great experience:)
Came in and decided to order the small platter.Way more food than the two of us could eat in one sitting, but it sure was good enough to try! 😂
Took plenty back to the hotel to eat later.
Definitely worth stopping in!
Go with the platter-chicken, pork, ribs, and all the fixins, you will not be disappointed!
Wait staff was free e fly and amazing too!
This place has THE BEST BBQ IN TOWN! We have been to several and I don’t know why they were not crowded. Just insane!! Party of 7 2x and just couldn’t understand. We all agreed it was so so good. Did see small groups come in. Maybe slow time.got a huge sample platter. Ribs best ever had, chicken had a dry rub and it was so so good. Corn on cob yummy only enough for one . Baked Beans delicious and ample for sharing. ( you get 4 sides with this ) fries good, collard greens my mother got and said tasty. The pork was good, this was so good we came back for another night!!! Hoping out of towhees AB’s locals stop by. Only thing was they would out of some sodas but it’s ok. Can’t be so picky when food is that good!!!
Service great
Dive bar on Beale St. Serves BBQ. We shared a plate with pulled pork and chicken. It was good. Not spectacular but good. Meat was not dry. But the BBQ baked beans....! Excellent! Next time I'm in Memphis on Beale St. I will stop in just for the beans!
I enjoy my meal the barbecue bologna sandwich with the fries and my data also enjoyed her pulled pork sandwich with her think it was potato salad and I had a a cup of dark ale and service was very pleasant I tip the waitress $10 my meal was $50
Came with some friends. Food was amazing. The ribs were cooked perfectly, the beans were excellent and the potato salad was incredible. The BBQ sauce was good. The pulled pork was excellent as well. The French fries were also great. The restaurant seating was quaint and the place isn't very big. But it was clean and the music was good.
Absolutely engaging staff, relaxed and chill atmosphere, crazy good BBQ, and really great overall spot to have a beer and some BBQ. One of the best spots we ate BBQ in fact! This place has a ton of awards for good reason! And it’s right in the heart of Beale street!
This restaurant has the BEST BBQ we have ever eaten, and we're from Texas. We walked into live music and were sat quickly. The high chair did not have a good latch and the waitress sent someone across the street to get us a better one. We decided on a family platter that serves 3 to 5 and the tray was huge! We chose ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and brisket. For the sides we ordered turnip greens(they were spicy good), baked beans, potato salad, and there was also bread with the food. We had ordered the kids chicken legs and a chicken strips and fries meal but they mainly ate the BBQ meat. We didn't mind as the chicken legs and tenders were delicious! The flavor was phenomenal! I could have drank The BBQ Sauce. The meat just fell off the ribs. The pork was so tender. The brisket; we still dream about. The smokiness on the chicken legs was delicious. The service was amazing!
