If you enjoy exquisite Greek seafood and typical Mediteranian favorites don't waste your time trying others. Not only did I find them clearly superior to a sea full of Greek restaurants in Miami, but they also have an amazing location nestled around the pool of the Bentley Hilton right along the southern shore of Miami Beach. Cannot go wrong.
I gave it a try and i was surprised. I went last friday for dinner with my date! i read the reviews and they did not encourage. I GAVE IT A TRY, the atmosphere was incredible. There was a lot of girls and they were beautiful almost takin away the attention of my date. Our server maurikio approached our table immediately after we sat down. he began explaining the food and these gentleman knew the menu like the palm of his hand, he recommended us the tasting ceviche and the marlin tacos, sounded so good that we had to try, our main course was the sugar cane tuna and the pork belly, the pork belly was something out of another world and i won't even tell you about the sugar cane tuna. after we had some desserts, we tried the chocolate cigar a "james beard" award dish and it was off the chain. drinks were okay my guy tried the old cuba and i tried the cojito, i kept ordering my cojito but the gentleman did not like the mojito, too sweet. overall this place left me impressed with the quality of the food and the knowledge the server maurikio had of the menu. i will definitely come back soon!
Loved it! Especially the wonderful service of Alfredo.

AAA 4-Diamond Award. De Rodriguez Cuba recently awarded for AAA 4-Diamond award Restaurant in Miami.
Excellent!!. It was a great experience. Fell in love with the place. Delicious food especially the Smoked Marlin Tacos, the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend it!
Phenomenal tapas and incredible mojitos! Didn't try their main menu but happy hour rules!
Tapas and a mean mojito. Surprise for a hotel restaurant.
Hidden Gem at the Beach. De Rodriquez Cuba on Ocean is an awesome place to relax and enjoy some great food and drinks. The “Happy hour” is an awesome feature (Menu and cost). The Tapas style entrées complimented our communal type setting, as we were there with friends and wanted to try everything. The standard menu offered diversity and flavor for all palates. If you fancy something outside the normal for drinks, ask Xavier at the bar to “hook it up”. He is an awesome “Mixologist”. (We know because we spent a great long night at the bar, learning and drinking quite a few of his creations) When you walk into the restaurant, ask to meet Jose Mera, he will be delighted to make sure your experience in the restaurant is “Top Notch”. He is aware, and has great connections with the South Beach scene. In a nutshell, Hilton scored with that restaurant. Everyone we interacted with, were very accommodating and friendly. We am from the DC Metro area and anonymity during customer service is kind of the norm, so it is really nice to patronize places that show appreciation for your business. The pool service and the additional amenities provided to the beach are also amazing. You will definitely feel like you are on a vacation. I could write a bit more, but you will have to experience it for yourselves. Just remember one thing, appreciation and interaction is a two-way street.
Enjoy
Great food, But not a traditional cuban restaurant for those wondering. Service was pretty good, and i really enjoyed my visit. Even had a manager come to our table and offered us a complementary glass of wine just out of the blue. No matter what i think it was still overpriced, but then ocean drive is pretty much like that.
We ate outside and the ambience was perfect. The music wasn't too loud, and the lighting was not too dark. The service was way above average for Miami, and the food came out quick. Try the Churrasco Filet and Key Lime Pie for dessert, which is made in house.
This is what Miami is all about!. It's everything you could want in a South Florida restaurant: good Latin/Floribbean food creatively prepared and presented, trendy location, upscale indoor vibe, outside tranquility. You can't ask for more.
The SoFL Foodies' 3rd Holiday Bash was celebrated at the beautiful South Beach restaurant of Chef Douglas Rodriguez, known as one of the original "Mango Gang" and the king of Nuevo Latino cuisine.
With a tongue-in-cheek nod to Christmas and Hanukah and to our very diverse South Florida community, a Roast Pig and Latkes (potato pancakes) menu was created for us...which quickly became known as 'lechon y latkes' and then 'olé and oy vey' on twitter.
I've known of Chef Rodriguez for many years -- even before I became a food blogger -- and have eaten at his prior restaurants in Miami and New York. I always admired his creative and contemporary twists on Latin food without compromising traditional taste. Last night was no exception.
In sum, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was teriffic especially since we sat on an outdoor patio facing a beautiful lit pool. And seeing that we were a large group of food-driven and media-obsessed, we're a tough crowd to please, the evening was a huge success.
It was my first visit to this location, but not my last.
We are here tonight for a special 5 course guest celebrity chef event. The food is excellent so far. The 4th course is taking a bit longer than I would like but we are enjoying the music and ambience.
Best Fish I've ever had!. At least one evening you have to get dressed up in your best summer evening dress and go to a nice restaurant on Ocean Drive in South Beach. We went to De Rodriguez Cuba set poolside and ocean front in the Hilton Hotel and enjoyed delicious marlin tacos (compliments of the chef), lobster ceviche, and I had the sea bass (head and tail still attached). This was the best fish I have ever had...white, incredibly soft and flaky and possessed such a clear, fresh taste that made me stop and savor every bite! In addition they serve salted plantain chips and salsa, Cuba's own take on corn toritilla chips and salsa! And don't forget dessert! Yum!
LOVED IT!!!. I had a great time. Food and service was great and as a Peruvian, I know lots about Latin Food. Will definitely bring the whole family next weekend.
Enjoyable dinner in retro atmosphere. Our booth, right under two very sexy nightclub photos from the 1950's and handsome waiter in a black fedora who supplied us with fried plantains set the scene for fun. Delicious, abundant food, with live music both indoors and on the patio. I really enjoyed my crusty scallops.
Not Just any Cuban Restaurant. Douglas Rodriguez is the undisputed king of Nuevo Latino food, and his new haute Cuban restaurant is a jewel in his crown. Located in the Astor Hotel, the restaurant features a smexy courtyard for dining in addition to tables inside. The service is exemplary with waiters who are quite knowledgeable about Rodriguez and all the dishes served. Foodies will be in heaven as the charming waiters, all sporting variations of Cuban straw hats, go far beyond the perfunctory recitation of the dishes on the menu to explain the history of the dishes and to explain how "Chef Douglas" tweeks the traditional.
A yummy plate of complimentary plantain chips and sofrito is brought to your table as soon as you sit down. There is something for all appetites on this menu--appetizers, tapas, salads, pizzas, and entrees. My daughter and I opted to share an assortment of tapas dishes, the Malanga tacos--little tacos filled with black bean beef picadillo topped with queso blanco & pickled Cubanel peppers, short rib skewers, and mini empanadas filled with ropa viejo. Short rib skewers and tacos were the stand outs. DH had a wonderful shrimp and avocado ceviche marinated not in your usual limey sauce but in perhaps a red pepper reduction sauce? It was red and tasty. For his entree he had a new lobster dish that was also in a red sauce served atop rice mixed with cilantro, parsley and other spices. The lobster was succulent and a nice change from the usual grilled in butter version. The rice was really special. Some diners have complained that the portions were small-and this may true of the tapas for hungry diners, but my daughter and I were quite satisfied and we split 3 tapas dishes. DH is a BIG eater and his lobster, a reasonable $27, left him thinking he had no room for dessert …until he saw it.
The dessert we all agreed was the best we'd had in recent memory. I didn't know whether to eat it or smear it all over myself because it was so decadent. Called Four Leche Cake, cake, it was a twist on the usual Tres Leche cake in that it was topped with a thick, decadent caramel. I think that might have been the fourth leche? It is served in a pretty tin as it is the quintessential refrigerator cake. Advertised as serving two ($15), it could easily feed four.
Frodnesor tipped me off to this restaurant. Usually dh goes for one Latin restaurant per trip here, but I think we'll definitely be going to Rodriguez's other restaurant, Ola.
Flawless. Service to food to atmosphere to music to cocktails - flawless. This is a nice evening out restaurant, with a beautiful atmosphere and an experience for all of your senses. Much to see, taste, and listen to. The most difficult part of the evening is picking out what to eat from the imaginative, yet not over-the-top menu. With a slightly lower price point, this place would be perfection.
Good food and ambiance. Lively music and great desserts. Highly recommended.
Mr.jota. Wath can i say.... nothing like yourself seating at the table.... anything you read its nothing but text !!!! but honestly a GREATTTTT place to visit , since the moment you are at host stand you can tell this guy itys a "top chef master" ... which we didnt know before choosing DeRodriguez ... we did not search or ask for advise we were just "walk-ins" ... but im so happy we did we are from Brazil.... my wife n I , give four thumbs - up for this chef and the whole staff , every server manages very professional their menu , just like if they cooked for us , tha floor manager was very enthusiastic and he made our night very very special !!! the food terrific !!! we did not get main course but all to share , the tapas(the best shortribs empanadita), soup (like my mothers in-law snnaper/rice/vegg.), and my wifes favorits the ceviche !!!! not to missed this one ..... until next year RODRIGUEZ
Jonnie. What a fantastic dining experience, lovely atmosphere in a beautiful courtyard, the staff were delightful, attentive but not over the top, and food was a joy, definately a great find and the best meal we've had in Florida.
One of the best meals we have EVER had!!!! My wife, brother-in-law and I were visiting Miami and decided to seek out a good Cuban restaurant and discovered De Rodriguez on Urbanspoon. We ended up ordering almost every Tapas plate. We then sampled the mixed seafood Ceviche. Incredible! Entered consisted of the Crispy Skirt Steak and my wife has the Tuna steak wrapped in prosciutto. Finally desert just topped it all off with the 4 Leches cake. Wow!! the service was impecable and so friendly. Intimate atmosphere for couples for dinner. We have eaten in many restaurants all over the world and this was truly one of the best eating experiences of our life!! Do not miss out on eating at De Rodriguez.
WONDERFUL & MAGNIFICENT. The lounge is very chic, the dining room is spacious & the patio is like being in a tropical garden. But the main attraction here is the food, Chef Douglas Rodriguez has gone all out in creating cutting edge Cuban fare.
For starters he has a variety of tapas, I would suggest the "Pan con Bistec" or "Bacalao Fritters" they are both magnificent. The flatbreads are to die for as well as the small selection of salads. The entrees are plentiful and just bursting with flavors of the island......just make sure to leave room for the desserts which are out of this world.

While vacationing in Florida, we decided to stop by De Rodriguez Cuba for a media tasting, which was awarded the 2013 AAA 4 Diamond Award in Best Latin Cuisine in Miami. De Rodriguez Cuba serves "Nuevo Latino" cuisine in Miami Beach. I was very curious about this restaurant so I enlisted a friend, Miss G., to accompany me and paid a visit. What is Nuevo Latino style food anyway? They are dishes from Mexico, Spanish speaking Caribbean and South America countries but with a special twist. The food still preserves the flavor and soul of the original recipes but always with a creative spin added by the Chef. De Rodriguez Cuba was created by Chef Douglas Rodriguez who is putting a "spin and a twist" on Cuban Cuisine. He uses local, sustainable ingredients in order to delight our senses: he is called the "Godfather of Nuevo Latino" Cuisine and is a pioneer in the culinary scene in Miami. Mixed Seafood Ceviche ($15) Shrimp, lobster, clams, calamari and other fruits of the sea frolic in a lake of grapefruit juice. This was really refreshing, a taste of the sea in each spoon. The best part I thought, was the addition of tarragon, not an ingredient usually used
D. Rodriguez Cuba, whose motto is “Who lives better than us?” was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. They serve Cuban food, some of it Cuban-inspired, others very authentic.
