Reviews Lou's Beer Garden

Lou's has a great atmosphere. It's small and entirely outdoors so it can be steamy in the summer. The staff is helpful and friendly. They have interesting beers on tap (and a daily 2-for-1 happy hour!) and a good bottle selection. Last time, they were passing around sake shots (out of the butt of a plastic pig). So wrong and fun! The food is solid, menu limited. Go for a beer and casual dinner.

Great atmosphere! Kind of difficult to find though. Service was a little slow but that was due to the lack of servers. The strawberry mojito is amazing and the food was great! Small portions of you are used to huge plates. Expect higher prices but not outrageous.

Five stars when Lou is personally there himself. He loves to talk food and drink, and he knows both amazing well. I have been fortunate to have had a professional career that allows me to eat at some of the best restaurants in the country and a few outside of the US. Lou knows food and drink. He knows atmosphere. It would be really interesting to see what he would do with a larger venue. Weekends are super fun. Petty much any time though you can meet cool and smart people. However, I like weeknights the best for dinner date night with wife. Just as good or better date place if you are not married.

Lou's is a hidden oasis in North Beach, and one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood for a drink. Once you find it (look for the little neon sign) head down the path and you'll discover a beautiful courtyard set around a pool. At night they set up torches that give the whole space a very cozy, mellow feel (there's even a fire-pit on cold nights). The drinks are creative & top notch -- and though it bills itself as a beer garden the cocktails are usually why we go. The weekday happy hour, which runs from 6pm - 8pm, is a big win, with big discounts.
