I been wanting to have Ethiopian food for a while, Well I was finally able to visit. The food was delicious! A lot of flavor for sure, if you're looking for something new to try and feeling a little adventurous, then this is it. Maybe not located in the best location but I had no trouble getting to the restaurant.

Amazing restaurant in a modest plaza. This place is nice for a unique date night. There is Ethiopian music playing, delicious authentic food, the smell of incense in the air, and kind, welcoming service. The Ethiopian honey wine is delicious, for those who like holiday wines and fermented tastes, have a glass! I felt like I was in another place, I will bring family back just for the enriching experience.

I’ve been wanting to explore African (Ethiopian) food for a while when a friend recommended Awash and I’m so glad they did! Great service and delicious food. The restaurant is in a sketchy run down plaza but the inside was very clean. We tried a little of everything.. beer, sambusa, lamb tibs, Ethiopian honey wine, the tasting plate was perfect because you get to sample so many things and the price is reasonable ($22 for 2ppl). Everything is super flavorful and eaten with injera. My favorite was the chicken doro wot (chicken stew). I took 1 star because I was a little surprised they added an automatic 20% tip to the bill for 5 people. Good service and good food deserves a good tip, I just didn’t like that it was automatically added. We ended the night with coffee which is served with burning frankincense/myrrh, to rid bad spirits and negative energy. We will definitely be back!

I've visited this restaurant twice with my boyfriend and friends, and the food has always been exceptional. They also love it. I can't stress enough how delicious these dishes are. I've tried the Meat sambusa, the Lentil sambusa, Special tibs and Awaze tibs which are delightful. The star is always the Taste of Awash, a base of injera with meat and vegetarian entrees on top. The experience of eating this dish is unique. I recommend asking for the Ethiopian style so you and your friends can share and try the same flavors from the communal tray. There are no utensils (I'm sure they will provide cutlery if you ask for it); your utensil is the injera (flatbread). It is very easy to eat with it and not messy at all. I recommend not asking for utensils so you can have the full experience. This restaurant is also excellent for vegetarians since there are many meatless dishes. The service is also great. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Awash Ethiopian Restaurant is the only place that offers Ethiopian cuisine in Miami, and it is a must if you are a food lover.

Very underrated cuisine. Unique and tasty flavor profile. We ordered the "Taste of Awash" (sampler)for 2 and it did not disappoint. Definitely coming back to get whole entrées of the specific dishes we enioyed from the sampler. 4 stars just because we wished they were a little bit more generous with the meat. Ordered the chocolate cake as well, which was moist and had a strong chocolate flavor. The restaurant is a mom and pop, where you can feel the attention and care they put into the place. The place is in Miami Gardens, but I would say in a better area.

It was super neat experiencing a very small piece of the culture in South Florida. First of all, you eat with your hands and the food is very saucy. The vehicle to bring the food from the plate to your mouth is a slightly sour spongy “flatbread” that is used to scoop the food to eat. We ordered the meat sambusas as an appetizer (delicious fried pockets of meat). We also ordered the beef tibs, Taste of Awash, and Vegetarian sample platter to split between the four of us. The food was delicious and the spices were not overwhelming. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, but lost my appetite after my family member had blown their nose and continued eating. This place is definitely a hole in the wall and the area isn’t entirely the greatest, but we went for the experience.

My first time eating Ethiopian food, and the experience was amazing! Everything was flavorful, hot. My friends and I had the Lintils Sambusa, Lamb tibs, and Vegetarian combo veg tray, the Tibs Firfir, and some fruit juices. See pics. I love that the owners used their culture in the décor and played Ethiopian music, and the friendliness of the staff was the icing on top. Have patience, and politely ask for the check when you're done dining, and you'll have an amazing experience like I did.
