We had a wonderful lunch here.
Pork baby rack with chicken and pulled pork sandwich and with corn. Everything was fine except bun for pulled pork sandwich. It was too basic. Other things was fine! Will be back to Shorty’s soon:)
Tomatoes and onion rings are great, everything else is so-so. The barbq is okay, but not great. The fried green tomatoes are the best thing on the menu. I wouldn't call the service terrible, but I'm pretty sure the waiters are all stoned 24/7. I've never gone to Shorty's without the waiter either forgetting something, bringing me the wrong food, bringing me food with hair in it, or spilling drinks on me. Despite this, we will return. Those tomatoes are kickass.
I loved it here! The food was extremely affordable. You get a heavy amount for the price.
The service was subpar, they had us wait nearly an hour until we were able to get our check.
The drink selection is very low and not the best selections.
When you walk it you can smell the BBQ and the seating selection is up to you, that is what I really liked.
Came here randomly after passing by on our way to the gun show. Boy am I glad we did!!! We will definitely be coming back. The ribs are delicious! And the hickory sauce with it omggggg amazing! The only thing I wish they had was better Caesar dressing made with anchovies. Theirs isn’t made with anchovies. Their homemade corn bread is VERY good too and totally worth the $3.50 for the large serving. And they have pitchers of Stella 😍 our waitress was Cookie and she was the sweetest!
Love coming for a nice casual date night. Hubby LOVES the burgers. I'd kill for their chicken anything. Employees are the absolute best. Go out of their way to make sure everything is good and make it an overall good time. Environment is beyond cozy and homey. Food is incredible every single time. For my latinos, the flan KILLS ugh so good
i hadn’t been here in years because i visited a few times and the food wasn’t great, compared to the OG location at dadeland. i gave this another shot recently, in the interest of saving myself the drive across town. the food was much better and it has been consistently good the last few times i came!
the place is clean and organized well, the staff was very friendly and attentive (thanks, Cookie!) and the food was pretty good, for the most part.
the corn was fantastic, the beef sandwich was tender and flavorful, and the fries were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside! where things did come a bit undone was with the coleslaw and the baked beans. the coleslaw was super dry and the beans tasted like cough syrup. i’ve had both of these items here in the past and have never had this issue, so maybe is was just an off day ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is the best barbeque restaurant in South Miami. The service was great - our waiter brought extra stuff like water, sauces, and other necessities without having to ask and he was very attentive, 10/10 for the service. As for the food, it is well worth the price - very delicious and has generous portion. I highly recommend the sampler platter if you have a party of 3 or more (it is huge). The brisket, ribs, and chickens all are very tasty. Desserts are awesome as well. I highly recommend the pecan pie and the tres leches. 10/10 for the food. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We ordered the baby back ribs platter for two which had beef sandwiches, chicken, ribs, fries, and bbq beans and coleslaw. The chicken was dry and flavorless, but everything else was great. The beans surprised me, they were delicious.
Good American styled BBQ food. I wouldn't say it's the best due some items being on the bland side. I recommend the burgers, corn and baked beans. The ribs were okay; a little tough to chew. They serve beers, wine and now margaritas. The price is just right. A nice spot to stop by for American barbecue food once in awhile.
Really enjoyed Shorty’s. It took a little while to get our food but some of the best coleslaw I have ever had and I have never seen any restaurant do this before but they give you a little cup oh warm water to clean your fingers. That was a great idea.
Small town shop feel. Real home made food taste and amazingly reasonable prices. Loved it. Will go again.
Loved this bbq place. Food was excellent
And so was the service. Good value. A little light on brisket portion for plate meal, but it was cooked nicely and tender.
Old fashioned American food and barbeque and it's great. Ribs, pulled pork, brisket, chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob and all the other fixings too. The atmosphere is great with loads of antique tools, signs and animal heads mounted all over the restaurant. Great, fast service by friendly waiters.
Had Brisket Platter with Baked Potato and Cole Slaw, Garlic Bread. Brisket was very tender and flavorful. My wife had Cornbread, Fried Okra, and Cole Slaw and Corn on Cob. We shared the Fried Okra as it was a very big side order and easy to share. Service was great as well. Very personable and knowledgeable about the selections.
Food here is always really good and at very good prices. We had the baby back ribs which were delicious and the kids had spare ribs and chicken tenders. Service was fast and friendly. Would recommend for lunch or dinner.

This is a delicious restaurant to try in Miami if you are a rib lover! I tried the baby ribs combo at great price that came with BBQ ribs, corn on the cob, French fries, cornbread and coleslaw! Everything was so flavorful and I recommend coming here if you are in Miami.
We got the $30 baby back ribs special and they were great. Cornbread was outstanding! As we’re all the fixings. Always love coming here.
Being from North Carolina, eating BBQ on a regular basis is necessary for maintaining my happiness. While in Miami recently I got the hankering! There is a BBQ chain in Florida that most people refer me to, but i have never been completely satisfied with their offerings. So while driving around looking for another option I happened upon Shorty’s BBQ, and I am glad I did.
Even though this BBQ joint is in South Miami it is the real deal. I had the Smoked Chicken and Rib combo with a sweet potato, coleslaw, and Texas toast. The meal was excellent! The smoke is well controlled and not overdone, the meat is moist and not overcooked, and the coleslaw is not overly sweet.
I would give the restaurant 5 stars if it offered a vinegar based sauce option. The only option I was offered was a thick, brown sugar type sweet sauce. It was very good but not my thing.
The employees were all very polite and responsive. The restaurant was clean with plenty of parking available. The atmosphere is definitely “BBQ joint” decor. I was properly welcomed and properly thanked for my business, and the price was reasonable. I will definitely go back when I am in town!
Delightfully inexpensive, best corn on cob place around, old charm, nice staff, always felt welcomed...
