My family and I have been eating here since 1985. I can say without a doubt this is the best Palomilla steak and fries you will have in Miami, along with this best flan. I am not particularly fond of the rest of their food, as a Cuban that comes from a family of good cooks I can tell you that i have eaten better at other restaurants, but when it comes to Palomilka and fries.. No one beats this place. Is not much to look at and the same waiters/waitresses have been around since 1985 ( they all had dark hair when I started going there)
THE best place for real Cuban flan and one of the absolute best places to get Cuban food in Miami. Better than Versailles, La Carreta or any of those mass-produced Cuban food places. This place is the real deal. Genuine, tasty Cuban food at a great price!
This place has been here over 40 years and it is still the best. Bistec Rio Crystal is the same I have had since I was a child. The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfect temperature, tender and juicy, covered in chopped onions and a mountain of fries. Carlos the waiter keeps you laughing from the minute you walk in. Only regret is I don't go more often. Thanks for another great night.
I read somewhere about coming here getting a steak with a mountain of fries while visiting Miami... and I was not disappointed. It was excellent and incredibly filling.
The flan was the best flan I've had in my life. My girlfriend isn't a huge fan of flan, and she even enjoyed it.
This is by far the best restaurant with the most delicious palomilla steak that I’ve had in Miami. The steak had so much flavor and I loved the black beans. The service was excellent all the waiters that I encountered were great, Digna, Aurora, and I believe the gentleman’s name is Jesus were all wonderful and provided excellent service! I just wish that I lived closer I already miss the palomilla steak. I was visiting from the San Diego area I will definitely be back whenever I am in Miami. Muchas gracias a todos por el gran servicio!
I come here when I’m in Miami because they make an amazing palomilla steak (thin and juicy with onions and a bit of tangy lime flavor) with a big pile of homestyle shoestring fries!
The place has a hole-in-the-wall vibe, but don't let that discourage you. A sweet grandma will likely wait on you, and you'll get great service. I like to finish up with a flan.
You can pay by QR code at your table, and on your way out you'll probably put Rio Cristal on your repeats list for Cuban comfort food.
Soooo good. We walked in, sat down, and had a glass of water in front of us before we could blink. We didn't need a menu, we knew we wanted a good sandwich and some fried chicken. They did not disappoint.
So happy to celebrate my birthday here after many years of not being able to come. This place is very nostalgic to me. We used to come here when I was little. The steak is famous for it's huge pile of hand cut french fries that are always perfectly cut and cooked.
Rarely does a reality feel even better than a nostalgic memory, but Rio Cristal did that, and more. They made us feel at home and went above and beyond with service.
Mil gracias por el gustazo de regresar a un pedazo de mi hogar. La realidad fué aún mejor que la memoria nostálgica. ¡Gracias!
Great service and food as always....
Authentic cuban. The simplicity of the food makes them original and unique....husband been going here since he was 7 y/o. We dont mind the drive from Broward to Miami..
Been comimg to this place for years with my family, always great service and the food portions are great for the price. Highly recommend to anyone looking for some great food.
Still great. Portions are large and quality is still excellent. Usually get the Palomilla, but tried grilled chicken this time. It was excellent.
No frills..Best steak and French fries in town. Consistent!!!Has not changed a thing and that is what I love about this place. Over 50 years.Friendly staff and it’s like you are served by your grandma! Food was quick to arrive and freshly done. You want high end or fusion, go somewhere else. You want authentic Cuban food, then check it out. If you had a bad experience, let them know. Come back and give a try. They must be doing something right if they have been around for so long.
The place has an old school feel to it. The waitress was very personable and had suggestions on what we should order. Clean, and no real suggestion of filthiness.
The food was cuban cafeteria food, although a touch above the average fair you find in Miami. The black beans tasted homemade, although I did pick up a hint of raw garlic (maybe I'm mistaken). The steak was bigger and a bit thicker than a palomilla and was well seasoned. Rice was clean and fluffy and well cooked. Overall would reccomend at least one visit. One final thing...they serve a TON of french fries so come hungry.
Without fail, anytime I go, food, service wait time on point. The place isn’t fancy, it never has been, it’s homey, comfort food with large portions! Do yourself a favor and try it and don’t forget to leave space for the flan. Take it home if you have to!
Best Cuban food in town come hungry because you are going to get filled up I ordered the big steak to take half home and ended up eating the whole thing. Come experience one of the very few still original restaurants in Miami. And don't forget to try the most delicious flan I've ever tasted.
The flavor on the steak and fries blew my mind! Great food, if I am ever back will stop again
