Had been to the bakery before but never dined in. And apparently forgot to review it, but it's good that I waited Anyway because I did more this time :) The buffet is awesome! Most of the food is pretty comparable to Blue Gate, rich and carby Amish goodness. Service is really good, we never waited more than a couple minutes to have plates taken away. The building itself is really cool, with neat decor hanging around everywhere, and it's huge! Can't wait to come back!
As expected the Broasted Chicken is the highlight! We also ordered Roast Beef, mashed potatoes and fries, as well as cream pies. The chicken was awesome but I wasn't a fan of the cream pies.
Great food and friendly attentive service. I've been going there for many years and it's always great in every way. A nice selection of gifts and bakery items.

Comfort food at it’s best! I’ve been eating here since the 1970s. We’ve celebrated many many family events here over the years and it’s one of my favorite places to eat in the entire state!
One can choose menu or buffet. Both are excellent. Today we chose buffet. Plastic gloves are available and people are encouraged to use them on their serving hand as they go through the buffet. The cold side has chopped lettuce, various salad toppings and several typical mayonnaise or oil dressed salads (such as three bean, macaroni salad, cole slaw, etc). Several dressing are available including the delicious French. There are a couple of dessert type salads. On the hot side we had mashed potatoes, noodles, dressing, two kinds of gravy, green beans, macaroni and cheese, a couple of other vegetables plus the meats — turkey (both white and dark served in hot broth), roast beef, and broasted chicken. Rolls are brought to your table. Drinks not included in the $15.99 buffet price.
The noodles were a little mushy and the beef was a little dry. Nothing was too salty. It’s difficult to serve hot fresh food to the numbers of people the Essenhaus serves each day but they manage to do it efficiently and at a reliably good quality.
The prices are a little on the high side in my opinion but the food is delicious.
Plan to spend extra time looking at all the Essenhaus shops if you enjoy country clothing, crafts and decor. The flower garden are always beautiful, too!
As far as I know, the breakfast buffet is only offered on Saturday and Sunday but menu breakfast is available other days.
Absolutely fantastic food. We did have a 30 minute wait to be seated but it was well worth the wait. The staff and food were top notch quality. I would recommend this place to all my friends. Hope to be able to go back again real soon. God Bless all the staff.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the food. BEST around. We had the buffet. We were both very hungry, sooo much selection and ALL delicious! Very clean and spacious restaurant. And the servers are so nice!This is our "special" spot when we want to treat ourselves to some really good tasting, home cooked food. Absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!

During our visit, we heard that this was the place to eat. Finally, we decided to go to breakfast and so glad we did. Best breakfast we have had in our month-long stay. We had the Breakfast Griller and Biscuits and Gravy. Breakfast griller had bacon(choice of meat) eggs, potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, onions, peppers and sausage gravy wrapped up and pressed panini-style. It was amazing! The biscuits and gravy had HUGE, fluffy biscuits and potatoes smothered in some pretty amazing sausage gravy. As we were leaving, we walked through the halls that have items to purchase and then to the bakery where we purchased one cinnamon roll, because they were so large. Later in the day we tried the roll and it was melt in your mouth amazing! I wish we had gotten 2! I am hoping to get a chance to swing by before we leave pick up another! Do not miss this place! They are closed on Sunday and Monday, and while you are there, they have some great shops too! If this review helped you, please give it a thumbs up!
The salad bar was delicious and fresh. The main food bar was very good too. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I would have given a 5 star except for the price, bit high for a buffet.
