Mapo tofu is excellent. The boiled fish in fiery oil is out of this world.
South Legend serves up decent spicy Sichuan Chinese dishes. This restaurant is a good bet if you’re looking for some heat, and are located near by. South Legend Signature Dishes – Boiled Fish, Couple’s Delight, Chong Qing fish fillet with Chili.
My first visit to this restaurant and it was a great experience. We had the fish fillet with spicy tofu, boiled chicken in fiery sauce and the vegetable noodles. The fish fillet were my favorite but the food overall was very good and spicy. The fiery sauce has a lot of hot oil and may not be for everyone but I love the lip numbing spiciness. And all the portions are huge. We'll definitely be back.
Awesome Szechuan cuisine! Non-spicy dishes taste great too! Service is really nice. Not cheap but worth the money.
Overall great Sichuan food. Especially the spicy chicken, and the red braised pork belly. But the bingfen is a bit disappointed. It tasted like jelly.... which is not what it should be...but I do like they put jiuniang (sweet ferment rice) on the top.
If u want almost authentic Szchwan food for miles around this is the place for you. You can also get non-spicey food to help cool down between scorching red chili peppers juxtaposed with the warm feeling of Szchwan pepper. Add some garlic and you have spicy flavors running amok in your mouth. We had Westlake style soup and eggplant to cool our tongues between the hot dish. I would have given 4.5 stars if I could as the prices have soared. For example the main dish cost $26 but it was so unique it was easy to forget as you dug out tasty nuggets of shrimp, quail eggs and lotus root. It took a bit of time to order, but once ordered, the food came hot, fast, and well-prepared.
Tasty Chinese restaurant, been there every time I'm in the bay area!
I got the boiling fish in fiery sauce and Chongqing fried chicken boneless . I have had these two dishes in other Szechuan places and I loved them. The boiling fish here had a different taste compared to the other Szechuan places, but still it was really good . The fried chicken was ok . It didn't taste like chicken as it was soft like a fish and it was very oily.
But I loved the boiled fish. 4 stars is just for the fish dish.
