i guess things have improved a lot compared to reviews from a year ago. We were just at the diner and had great food with extremely attentive service. My meal was the Roadhouse Omelet with pulled pork, my dining partner had the blue cheese burger - we were both very happy with our choices. Charlie brought us a pitcher of water for the table and kept our coffee cups filled the whole time, even when we sat to chat for a while after the meal. We were so impressed we talked to the owner to reserve the back room for an upcoming club meeting.
It's difficult to write a review, as this joint has nearly knocked me into a food coma. We started with the most ridiculously huge pile of Canadian Nachos (aka poutine) I have ever seen and they let you choose from THREE different gravy options, no less. By the time we mowed through that and had started into a round of malts, there was hardly room for our burgers. The Butterface malt will turn you into exactly what it sounds like and I was in sugary heaven with my Campfire (s'mores) malt. The fresh cut fries are wonderful and I'm sure the burger will be delicious when I get to trying the leftovers.
This place is classic retro but not kitschy. You can tell they like what they do and aren't afraid to experiment. Will be back for breakfast and definitely more malts.
Pro tip: either bring a second stomach or plan on fasting before eating here.

Went mid morning for some coffee. Super chill, cute little Cafe. Barista was super nice and laid back. Prices are very reasonable, $10-11 for a 14oz Latte and a cinnamon roll. Only 2 blocks from the Hyatt Regency too! Will be back while I'm visiting. Also a bit confused by some of the negative reviews.
Coffee is amazing!!
Great vibes and fun board games as well as card games to play.

It's a good 15 or so minute walk from the Sculpture Garden if you're looking for a good walk.
I really love the atmosphere. The chocolate muffin taste good, but it was kind of dry not that it was bad though! The staff is really nice. I can’t understand why you have to enter code to use the bathroom though…
I appreciate the atmosphere not typical but very inviting. Staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. Much better coffee than from a chain coffee shop for sure. I am always glad to support a local business that cares about the community. I will be a returning customer for sure.
Muffin Top is a cute, little spot with great coffee drinks to get you going and a full bar to mellow you out. I freaking love the atmosphere there. It's like Cental Perk from Friends but with booze!
The staff is amazing and they've got great snack and soups! 10/10 would recommend!
This was a good place to stop for a quick lunch after leaving the convention center. The cheesecake and the pineapple smoothie were my favorite.

Outside it was a little sketchy. Not because the place just the location but the staff was fun and friendly! Board games inside to play and big tables! Great on the inside!
Best coffee shop for Loring Park residents in my opinion, food options are limited but what they have is amazingggg. The breakfast sandwiches are really good and they have a delicious garlic hot sauce to go with it
Have been in several times. The baristas are very attentive and create wonderfully perfect drinks. Awesome chill atmosphere. Food is very good as well. Prices are good, lower than Spyhouse Cafe. Art work on the walls needs to be replaced.
This small cafe has community at its heart, which is why I gave it an extra star. Many coffee shops don't see as such a variety of customers, but Muffin Top does and does their best to accommodate them, leading the staff to go the extra mile when needed. However, the atmosphere is different that other coffee shops; I came here to study, and at times found that difficult to do. Ultimately though, there wasn't too much distraction and I can empathize as it's a public establishment. Furthermore, a great perk of this place is that it's open later than the majority of other cafes. At night, it becomes less of a cafe and more a bar (I was working while staring at a lot of alcohol) but I think it's a fair tradeoff for the extended cafe-esque experience. The food here is nothing to rave about, but the prices are very reasonable. I wouldn't recommend coming here to zone in on work, but if you're mind chilling in a casual environment then this is a nice spot. Some immediate fixes to raise a star would be to consider adding a bottle of Febreeze and a coat hook in the bathroom and to fix the loud ventilator sound the door makes every time someone walks in. I'd return here and would even recommend this place to a friend.
If you’re looking for karaoke in Minneapolis, look no further. Minneapolis’ hottest karaoke bar is, the Muffin Top Café. This place has everything. An elderly black woman with diva hair bringing the house down with Tina Turner. Out Tonight from Rent. Bartender singing karaoke behind the bar and crushing it. Those weird, Googie style, mid century modern squiggles on the Formica bar top. Two random strangers who just met tonight singing a duet and slaying. Nobody wants to go first so the host sings and 15 people sign up. Disco lights and performances that bring a tear to your eye. Put on your makeup, turn on the 8-track, pull the wig down from the shelf, and bring it on down to the Muffin Top Café.
I just visited Muffin Top for the first time, and loved it! Super cute, mellow-but-classy vibe, and nice big windows to work by.
I went there this morning to work remotely, and I'll do it again. Also look forward to going back for bingo and drinks!
P.S. I highly recommend the spinach quiche and Danishes. Yummy!

Drinks were great, and the server was very courteous and personable. Will be back on my next trip to MN!!
Super friendly staff, always stop in when i’m looking for a quick pick me up or a little something xtra in my coffee. Karaoke nights on Tuesday/ Thursdays are always a blast. Also highly recommend bingo with Maddy and the queens on Monday.
