My favorite: gluten free chocolate cake ball! mmmmm. It's a special treat when I'm at 50th and France. My husband loves the coconut cupcakes. For our wedding cake we had the coconut vanilla cake. We walk to Sweet Retreat for dessert after we eat Chinese at New China Wok.
Finally a wonderful cupcake!. I am a excellent baker and very picky when it comes to sweets. I have to say I was "Blown Away" with how wonderful the cupcakes are. I have told EVERYONE to go and to try a cupcake. At $3.00 a cupcake one must need to really be into the quality then quanity. Though I have heard not so great comments on the owners of the shop, I must say I will defineatly go back!
Most Amazing Cupcakes and cool people too!. First, I've enjoyed cupcakes at famous spots in NYC and D.C, but the cupcakes at this shop are honestly the best I've ever tasted. It's worthwhile just stopping in and trying one.
I've also ordered cakes here for a couple of special occasions, and couldn't have been more satisfied. The cakes were fabulous and the folks helping us were great to work with and just very cool people. I highly recommend this place.
Sweet Retreat is a really cute shop. It has two tables, a bench to sit at outside and a large window for people to watch whatever is being made. The mocha and coconut cupcakes are both amazing, and I'm sure others are as well. The one complaint I have is that the treats are served on paper plates. It doesn't seem to math the rest of the environment. Otherwise, it's great! I'll definitely be back.

One of the Critics said they thought the Cupcake Craze was over, not as long as there are Girlie Girls with Frosting Obsessions,TRUST.Such a Statement really FROSTS ME (not really, just an attempt at Cupcake Humor that failed). I usually am the Girl At the Wedding,end of the Cake Line, Asking for the Plate Full of Frosting they Wiped the Knife On,& shamelessly been known to eat the whole plate of Frosting . I don't actually eat the Cake part of the Cupcake, but I can't help but eat yours.

When reviewing any business, customer service shouldn't be underestimated. This is where Sweet Retreats excels. Ordering over the phone was easy and the girl taking the order was friendly and patient. I always get annoyed when employees try to rush you or make you feel like a burden. When I picked up the order a couple days later the girl behind the counter was also very personable and chatty. I liked how they tell you how best to store and serve the cupcakes (one flavor was ok to sit out at room temp for a couple hours, while the others were best served straight out of the fridge). Parking was a little tough. Street parking
Sweet Retreat was my favorite cupcake shop before I got married and it's my favorite hands down after my wedding! Mariah and the staff at Sweet Retreat so helpful and exceeded my expectations for what we wanted. We knew we wanted cupcakes and a small cake for us. The flavors we picked were a hit with everyone and they were all gone the next day! The cake is to die for that my hubby and I decided we weren't waiting a year to eat, so we cut slices of it so we can enjoy it every month after out wedding! We also plan on going back every month once the cake slices are gone :)
Sweet Retreat was everything we hoped for and more! When looking for a wedding cake we wanted nontraditional (no flowers, red and black) and we had a very hard time finding a place that understood our wants and needs. till we came here, everyone was wonderful to work with and they brought our thoughts and ideas to life in the most beautiful way! we couldn't have been happier with how our wedding cake turned out and the taste was out of this world, by far the best tasting cake I've ever had! all of our guest loved it too! i highly recommend working with them. I know ill be coming back in the future for any of my cake needs
Was very happy with the cake that Sweet Retreat designed for me for my mom's retirement! The raspberry chocolate interior was moist and delicious and everyone loved it. Would definitely utilize them again for my fancy cake needs!
Best cupcakes in the Twin Cities. Have had many other spots but the buttery, rich cupcakes here top them all. A variety of them ready to go and some special ones that come around for holidays (like Mother’s Day in the picture.)
We had Sweet Retreat make cupcakes and a small cutting cake for our wedding, and I cannot recommend them enough! They were very easy to work with, and everyone raved about the cupcakes we had (peanut butter cup, cookies-n-cream, and strawberry balsamic). We heard from numerous guests that they were the best cupcakes they ever had!
Sweet Retreat Cupcake Boutique has gourmet cupcakes, cakes and mini bunts. The cupcakes are nothing spectacular. It appears to be all about the frosting. The frosting is sweet, flavorful and delicious. I'm more of a cupcake person than a frosting person so 4 stars. The frosting people loved them. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We are first time customers and will be coming back as repeat customers and will be referring friends and family here as well. Our daughter was having a birthday party and we ordered cupcakes from Sweet Retreat. When my wife went to pick up our order, it had been mistakenly given to another customer with a similar order. The owner (Stephanie) took matters in to her own hands and went and picked up our cupcakes from the other customers house and delivered them to our house. They had also gotten the order slightly wrong, so Stephanie felt so bad and as the owner knew what to do to make her customers happy. She went so above and beyond to make us (and more importantly our daughter) happy that I will never go to any other cupcake shop in the twin cities. Thank you again Stephanie and the rest of the staff at Sweet Retreat for making our daughters birthday a happy one!
We LOVED the cupcakes. After searching relentlessly for the right wedding cupcakes, we made an impromptu visit to Sweet Retreat. It was getting close to the wedding and we hadn't made appointment; just planning on buying a couple to taste. Instead, they gave us a tasting on the spot and they were MAGNIFICENT!! Best cupcakes I have ever had. (Especially loved the Strawberry Balsamic, but they were all so wonderful.) They were a total hit at the wedding. Very impressed and many thanks to the wonderful job done. :)
We got our wedding cupcakes here and couldn't be happier. The cake tasting was a delightful and tasty experience. We ended up ordering over 300 cupcakes with 3 flavors. We had a vegan choice, a gluten free choice, and a regular. All were delicious and our guests were very happy. Very professional and we highly recommend them.
Sweet Retreat was the perfect choice for our wedding cake! They gave us numerous cupcakes and slices of cake for our tasting (we chose salted caramel and snickerdoodle, though all the flavors were delicious). They also perfectly translated our vision for the cake decorations to the cake the day of our wedding!
I ordered a custom cake for my sons birthday and I must say we were not let down! Amazing, amazing cake! The look and the taste was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. This shop is amazing! We bought a variety of flavors. Cakes is moist and tasty. Classic and unique flavors. I had a coconut one that was amazing. Red Velvet was wonderful too. Highly recommend.
We had Sweet Retreat make our cupcakes for our wedding. They were delicious! They were delivered on time and everyone I worked with was very friendly and helpful. They weren't decorated exactly how I had expected, but were still very cute. We ended up having some extra which we used to tip our security guards, I think they really appreciated it. I would definetly recommend working with them for your wedding!
Deserts are always an important part of any event, especially a wedding, and The Sweet Retreat exceeded our expectations! Working with Mariah to select the best option of cupcakes for our guests was fun and easy. She was willing to work with the vision that my wife and I had for our wedding and we couldn’t have been happier with how things turned out. On the day of, everything was ready on time for pick up and easy to transport to the venue. Would highly recommend choosing The Sweet Retreat for any occasion.
Ordered 12 cake balls from Akron Ohio to be delivered to my daughter for her birthday in Minneapolis. They were on time and she said they were delicious!!

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. We tried this place and another bakery before selecting this as our wedding cake vendor. We were so impressed by the quality and taste of the cupcakes that we decided to go with Sweet Retreat. I am so happy we did. The staff are fever friendly and the cupcakes are amazing!
They made a beautiful three tiered cake for my daughters party. It was soooooo tasty. Everyone at the party commented on how lovely it looked and how amazing it tasted. The staff was very helpful and they had an iPad full of previous cake pictures to spark design ideas. I can’t wait to go back for my next special event.
Today I picked up the CUTEST cupcakes for my granddaughter's birthday and I skipped out of Sweet Retreat and....BAM! I dropped one of the trays and it flopped upside down...I almost fell on the ground bawling.
I crawled back to the store and they dropped everything and put together new cupcakes for me. I cannot express how grateful I am to them.
Not only do they have fabulous customer service - every time I order something for a special occasion I am thrilled. They turn baking into an art.
