I received this as a recommendation from almost everybody I was stationed with so I had to try it.
The sandwich itself was massive and could easily feed two, but did not fault in flavor. Thick cuts of meat combined with the freshest ingredients. The cake was perfectly balanced between sweet and creamy.
I was very impressed by how kind Bennett was(who I think was the owner).
I'll be thinking about this sandwich for a while.

A little outside of the touristy area, which is what I look for when going to a new place. Great local deli, the owner Bennett was very friendly!
Loved this place when I was at DLI in the 80’s. Was a 10 minute walk from A Co. barracks and this was the place to go when you were sick of chow hall food. Sadly memories are usually better than reality - sandwich was soggy and way too much mayo and mustard, and dripping in jalapeño juice (the cheap canned ones not fresh). Would’ve still left 5-stars for the nostalgia but the owner running the cash register was just miserable and unfriendly. $24 and change for what you see pictured above. Half of the sandwich went in the trash as it was way too soggy.
Suggested by a friend and couldn't be happier. Service was great, sandwiches are huge and delicious. Highly recommend. The attached picture is only a half sandwich 🥪 and it was plenty!
This place. Wow. These sandwiches are no joke! And absolutely delicious as well. Really fun little shop with some interesting soda and chip choices as well. One of the unexpected culinary highs of our trip
Best sandwich I’ve had since I’ve moved to northern cali! I’ve been here 10 years and glad I found this place, luckily I’m local now so will go back often. Portions are huge, ingredients are fresh, sandwich is very tasty and customer service was great. Being from LA I don’t like waiting however do not let foot traffic stop you from going in, there was a line however I was in and out in 10 minutes!
This place is a gem. I didn't know what a real sandwich was before having one at Compagno's. Their soda and chip selection is top notch the guy behind the register serves the troops. Love this place.
I have traveled coast to coast, and this is, hands down, the best sandwich I've eaten in my life. Trust me when I say: you will regret NOT eating here!

Don’t need to hype up this awesome place with a tradition of supporting our linguists in quiet Pacific Grove. Worth driving around post or walking from the back gate. This is an anchor store in the community! Yum.
