MidiCi The Neapolitan Pizza is a dining experience that seamlessly marries exceptional pizza with an ambiance that's nothing short of enchanting. The restaurant's atmosphere exudes a warm, vintage charm that's reminiscent of classic playing on a projector. The subtle flicker of old black-and-white movies playing in the background adds a layer of nostalgia that's hard to resist.
The service was attentive and friendly, with staff members who clearly took pride in ensuring a pleasant visit.
In summary, MidiCi The Neapolitan Pizza is a hidden gem where culinary excellence meets cinematic nostalgia. If you appreciate great food and captivating atmosphere and if you are solo traveler, this restaurant should be must try for you.
I reached Monterey around 9:20pm and was looking for something open and found this. I had the margarita pizza and was so pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I was alone but the staff was so polite and the ambience was very nice for a pizza restaurant yet not too over the top to make a solo traveler feel out of place. Loved it.
The pizza here is delicious. One of the best places I've found since leaving Italy. I highly recommend for any Napoli pizza lovers.
Super amazing Neopolitan Style Pizzas. Wood fire style. Great crust great toppings.
Quite late in writing this review but finally got around to it and had to write this review as we had a wonderful experience.
We visited here in June 2023 when we were driving the Pacific Coast Highway from San Fran to San Diego and since PCH was closed after a certain point (due to Winter/Spring storms impacting roads in CA), we had to drive back to Monterey. We got to Monterey pretty late (around 10 pm) and the only decent place open with a decent choice of vegetarian food was MidiCi
Food - We were pretty hungry and prior to ordering had to make sure he could make vegetarians items suitable for some that had specific dietary restrictions (e.g. no cheese) and also ensure that soup was made with vegetarian stock. The waitress, Julia W, was very helpful and then the manager / owner also came to help as he knew we had some specific dietary restrictions. He was very accommodating and willing to make changes where he could. Finally we settled on 4 items - Garlic bread w/o cheese, minestrone soup made with vegetarian stock, 2 pizzas (Truffle & vegetable and La Maragrita Fiesta without any meat) and 1 greek Salad. All the food was amazing; I know sometimes when you are hungry, food tastes better but this was really good well flavored food. Soup was really flavorfull and had little spicy zing and portions were more than expected. Pizza was really good with a nice crust and fantastic taste . Salad was very fresh and wonderfully flavored. Surprising we finished all of the food! We even ordered coffee and desserts (Tiramisu and Baklava). Baklava was the only item that not that good
Service - very friendly staff especially Julia W. plus the other staff and the owner/manager. Julia was very patient and not only listening to our dietary restrictions but also making suggestions as we were ordering. We had good conversations with all teh staff and also found out later that Julia was from the East Coast (NY) and we were from NJ so from similar areas.
Ambiance - nice place with regular tables and some hi-top tables. Very "chill" casual place but clean and with a nice vibe. Decent size place and at 11 pm there were still some people in the restaurant plus some coming to pick up.
Overall Highly recommend this place if you are in this area
This place is solid. Good pizza, in an expensive area; you get what you pay for. I had the devil’s pizza and it was legit. Spicy and really good. I got it New York style, which is a must because it was loaded with meat and toppings. It was a touch greasy with the thicker crust, but I think that’s down to the delivery distance.
My only complaint about the experience is that they have you chose between Neapolitan and New York style, with no recommendation for a specific pie. If I had ordered this pizza Neapolitan, and it was made with the same amount of toppings, it would have been completely inedible. But, I made the right choice, so it was tasty!
Neapolitan pizzas>>> the best thing ever. We had a margarita & a chicken pesto pizza, and I would 1,000% come back. The pizzas were delicious, the vibe of the place was nice and the customer service was great. Everyone enjoyed their food no one complained. The chicken pesto was super generous on the chicken so that was exciting! We had their bruschetta as well, it was what I was typically used to (and there’s no balsamic vinegar:/ ) but that didn’t taint our view on this place, it’s a pizza place and the pizza was a 10/10
I was so lucky to stumble upon this restaurant!
The staff is friendly and the live music is great.
When it comes to the food, it was great! I ordered a chicken pesto pizza and even the crust was delicious! I also love that the meatball's tomato sauce had a homemade taste to it.
I'll come back!!
Some brilliant pizzas here, wood fired, two options of a New York style and a Neapolitan style.
Everything was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be coming back again. Staff is very nice. Jeremy was so kind and attentive! He even gave our pup some chicken. Thank you so much for making our outdoor dining experience so enjoyable!
We LOVE this place! It is kid friendly and a family run/owned place. The staff are amazingly hospitable and responsive and kind. The restrooms and the whole restaurant is clean and well-maintained. The food is just--DELICIOSO! We never miss Medici whenever we are in Monterey! Work up an appetite before you go and keep some space for dessert! Yum!
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! I came here two nights in a row because of how good it was. The food is brought out relatively quickly and is so delicious. All the servers are so kind and the way you order is very unique. You can use menus and order up front or scan a QR at your table, order, and pay through the website. The atmosphere is nice and if I lived in Monterey I would come here everyday.
Best Italian Mozzarella Sticks in the county. John is an awesome owner. He is very friendly and connects with his customers really well. Also, the other food and deserts are great too! And you can serve yourself ice water with the soda machine! No cocktails, but they have a wide variety of beer and wine to select from if you are into wine or beer. They also have yummy Italian soda!
There was music on a Thursday night! The very humble owner which you wouldn’t identify, ensured excellent service. He gifted us 2 Tiramisu desserts for our table just because…. We felt like we were in Europe as this has never happened to us while traveling and living in the US. The Tiramisu was delicious!!! We ordered a Caprese panini, I don’t even like sandwiches, it was the best pesto ever!!! As we were leaving, in chatting and thanking the owner we realized he is a Miami transplant. We highly recommend this hidden gem, family friendly, great food and impeccable service! Also, great hot chocolate as it was a bit chilly!
