El’s is an institution. The food is always really good. Know for the super burger, it is a Carolina classic. A fresh burger patty, mustard, onions, chili and a sweet coleslaw. If you have been to Cookout, it is like their Cookout style, but this is the original! Order from the waitress that comes out to the car and you get hot, fresh cooked food. Feed the seagulls and bring cash - cards are not accepted.
El’s has officially became one of the first places I need to stop when I come to Morehead City, NC!
The quality of food and amazing customer service is the main reason I’ll be back. I’ve heard of El’s for years but honestly though it was just hyped up but I was wrong! The crispy, golden and crispy French fries are just the perfect combination to their amazing sandwiches and more.
I got the opportunity to try their shrimp burger and it didn’t disappoint. The coleslaw was the right amount of salty and sweet to pair perfectly with the fresh shrimps. I was hesitant about the ketchup but it was the thing that pulled it all together and gave a mesmerizing taste with every bite.
If you’re in the area and looking for amazing food with a comfortable outdoor seating this is your spot.
Classic Drive. Best Hot Dogs around. Plenty of parking, staff was friendly. Prompt service. Had my food in no time. This is a cash only business, though there is an ATM inside. (.99 surcharge) Be warned, the ATM doesn’t like SECU cards, but a Cashpoints is available across the street at the College. Great Lunch. Will gladly return. Cheers.
A little roadside eatery with old fashioned flare. Had their signature cheeseburger, some fries, and an oyster burger. The burger was below average for me, having a bun that was soggy and smashed. My wife's oyster burger was perfect, however. Full of flavor and well put together. The staff was amazing and took our orders right away. The parking situation is a little wonkie, with cars stacked up out of order. The wait for food was rather long, but overall, it was an OK experience.

El's is a very popular local and tourist favorite when it comes to delicious food and friendly, speedy service 👍 Employees are kind, courteous, friendly, and very capable of performing their job functions and more!!! Service is pretty quick, most of the time... It's October in Atlantic Beach, so, I think it's considered off-season and things have slowed down quite a bit versus the busy summer tourist season!!! Offers a very friendly atmosphere.... No parking problems, most people are respectful of the others and prices are reasonable and the food is hot, fresh and very, very delicious 👍 I have a very high recommendation for El's!!! And hope that those of you that give it a try, have as great an experience as I have each time I have eaten there!! 👍 Just a reminder, food orders are taken and delivered at your vehicle!!! A very cool experience!!

Love the Super Shrimpburgers! Quick service with the parking lot full! Been coming here for 50+ years even though we live 500 miles away now!! Everyone loves El's and they ALWAYS come BACK!!!
We’re a couple of Vermonters visiting and we are beyond glad we stumbled upon Els. The staff was fantastic and the food? Let’s just say this northerner had never has a hush puppy before and I am now obsessed. Hubby loved the shrimp, so far the best food we’ve eaten in NC!!
El's Drive-In is a landmark in Morehead City NC. Drive up and a waitress will come out to take your order and bring it to you when it is ready. Rain or shine. Take it home, eat in your car, or at one of the picnic tables under the trees there. Hot dogs with chili and mustard are my favorite. They also have shrimp burgers, oyster burgers, 1/4 lb hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, shrimp plates and oyster plates, And prices are very reasonable. We got seafood plates one night and took them back to the resort and ate hot dogs under the trees at a picnic table there before heading out of town. A must if you are visiting the Morehead City/Atlantic Beach area.
No pictures this time but I got myself an oyster burger, others with me got shrimp burger, regular burgers, hush puppies, fries and onion rings. Everything was very good.
Ordered a shrimp burger, fries, and chocolate milkshake. My son had a burger, fries and a milkshake. It was the best meal both of us have had in a long time. Service was great! Waitress was super nice and got our food out to us very quickly. It is a wonderful place to stop after you have have had a beach day!
The food is amazing!! The shrimp burger was delicious, and the hush puppies were out of this world! Bit of a longer wait, but it was worth it! Highly recommended!
The service was excellent. The parking lot was full when we got there but our order was taken right away. There was a wait, because they obviously prepare the food fresh when you order. The food was hot and very fresh!! Best shrimp I have had in a while. Will definitely return!
We came here for vacation. The food was delicious and our bird friends we're so fun to watch. The waitresses run their butt off but could be a little nicer but we came for the food ..not a nice welcome. The food did not disappoint neither did the price. They are cash only but it was worth it .
Wow ! Possibly the best shrimp burger I have ever eaten. The waitress was literally jogging to help us at the car . Fun place to eat and great food and service. I would give 10 stars if possible.
I love this place and everytime I'm in the area I do a cheating day for one of the Super Cheeseburgers❣️ I love everything about this burger including the chili and slaw. The fries are always hot and fresh, etc etc❤️ I really enjoy being able to sit in my car there. But one of the best things is not only the food but the wonderful customer service. These ladies work hard and fast to get your orders and get food to you promptly and always with a smile. I highly recommend El"s to anyone going to the area for a day, week, or more.
This is a hidden gem. Drive up no parking spots just stop. lol waitress was friendly she comes out takes your order and comes back with a greasy brown paper bag, with the most delicious hot fries no salt which is perfect they do provide that and ketchup in the bag. Burgers were great we had shrimp buger and a there El's burger. It has chili mustard onions and slaw. LOL I love this little place.
Staff is great with really quick service the food is good although i feel the burger could use more of a seasoning? All in all good food.
No trip to Morehead City would be complete without a trip to El’s! We had the super burger, a shrimp burger and fries. Sorry I didn’t take better pictures, but I was busy eating. Yum!!
