Found this unexpected gem stopping for gas. Fries were fresh and crispy. Brisket was hot and flavorful. Mac n cheese was good too. Definitely worth a stop💯
Had the combo platter or brisket, pulled pork, and smoked chicken thighs. Getting a juicy brisket up north is kinda tough but Buttons nailed it. The portions are significant compared to other PA BBQ joints I've been to. Truck parking is key for me and this place had plenty of parking. I'll definitely be back when time and route allows.
Found this gem online when we were in the area at a car show. I live 54 miles away and I am looking forward to coming back very soon. I had a hamburger and my wife had steak sandwich. Burger was very good I think her steak looked better. She was very impressed with her steak sandwich the quality and quantity. The fresh cut fries were great. The prices are fair for the quality and quantity that you receive. My next trip I will be trying something new. We dealt with two different employees both were very nice and made us feel very welcome.
I never thought I would be saying I had great food and service at a gas station but, we did.
Update:
Their schedule and mine finally matched up and to be fair, it’s my schedule that’s tough. After my original post they updated the posted hours.
Super friendly people and decent prices. While this wasn’t the best brisket I’ve had, it was flavorful and tender. The rolls seemed to be a cross between brioche and french rolls which made for a perfect brisket sandwiches. The fresh cut fries were a nice bonus.
While I couldn’t give them a 5 star review, I will be giving them my business every time my travels bring me along I-81 and they’re open.
We were traveling home from NY and saw the signs on highway. We took a chance and were we glad. Food was excellent! Best burger I've had in a long time. We are going back for sure. Two hour drive for us but it is worth it!
This is hands-down, one of the best barbecue places in Pennsylvania that I’ve been to. I do not think you will be disappointed.
I stopped in today to use the restroom and grab a fresh cup of ice.
I was treated really well. I asked about an ice machine and they didn’t have one, but they keep a bag of ice for us to use with the ice cream.
It’s a basic truck stop, with kind people working there, enough spots for a decent number of trucks. The lot was clean, and I wish I was passing through at a time when lunch or dinner were being served. I’m adding this to the list of places to eat.
The menu seemed very fairly priced!
On our way home to Pittsburgh & saw this place on the exit sign. The food was great & pulled pork was tender!!
A really good brisket sandwich although the fries were maybe cooked plenty long enough. I think they smoked their meat right there with fire wood. If you want a drink you have to buy it at the convenience store adjoining. Nice little place off of Interstate 81. Plenty of truck parking.
I got the brisket with the mac and cheese and baked beans. Mac and cheese was excellent. Brisket was pretty good and so was the baked beans
Had been riding all day in the rain and stopped for a coffee. Ended up having the beef brisket dinner with beans and coleslaw. Best I've ever had. I was able to pull my bike under the covered picnic area and dig out dry clothes. I will go out of the way to return some day.
I’m from the south and have had amazing BBQ over the years. I highly suggest stopping in a Buttons and getting a Pulled Pork sandwich. One of the best I’ve had. Fries were good and my wife liked the Mac and Cheese
Combo Platter: Brisket, pork, chicken. Mac N Cheese, Baked Beans. Side is sweet BBQ.
Tha meats: All 3 very tender, juicy, done right. The pork was my fav at the start, but chicken seems to tie it up at the end, 5/5. Brisket was very good as well, but the other two were a lil better this day, 4.5/5.
Mac and cheese: cheesy, creamy, and thick like a honky tonk badonka-donk. Put it in a Mac and cheese fest competition. Put it right up near your favorite auntie's Mac n cheese, just don't tell her about it. 4.99/5.
Baked beans: Litty tangy, little sweet. Not my all time favorite BB, but that's a personal preference. Has onions, bacon pieces, big Lima beans too. I didn't use the BBQ sauce so it probably offsets that sweetness pretty well. 4/5.
Inside and outside seating. The Blue Ridge convenient store has alcohol for sale.
Put it altogether with a great price and it is definitely worth the trip to Buttons.
I always drive through here and finally decided to stop. I ordered the brisket platter w/ 2 sides. The smokey flavor of the brisket was delicious. I will be back to have more off of the menu.
Ordered a cheeseburger and fries, both were amazing. The burger was hand formed not a frozen pattie and it was cook perfectly. The fries were very good cooked crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The young man behind the counter was very nice, helpful and didn't mind how long it took us to look over the menu to decide what to eat. I look forward to coming back and trying the BBQ.
Brisket with baked beans and coleslaw. $12. Totally perfect
