Normally would have had to drive to Hemingway, SC for bbq this good...food was great i had pulled pork n a half slab of ribs which where both delicious i never got a shot at the mac n cheese my family ate it all though im assuming it was good as well. I love the selection of sauces esp the vinegar based u dont see that at any places in town next time i go i will ask mr. Evans for some pork skins..kudos to u and ur family yall did that.

Thursday, Brisket sandwich and 1 rib.
Today, Full rack of ribs to go and a pulled pork sandwich. A side of the Best Cole slaw I have had in years.
Meats were perfectly cooked. My favorite part is....They do not sauce the meats.
They have 6 squirt bottles of sauce and give you 6 containers with lids. I LOVE this!
I can try the meat as it comes, just juice and Smokey. then I can try all the sauces. One bite per sauce. Just Great.

THIS REALLY HAPPENED TONIGHT: After leaving the water park this evening, our sweaty and sun burned family decided to go out for some Carolina BBQ before we head back to the hotel.
We stumbled upon a placed called True BBQ. The place was packed. We went inside and we're instantly greeted by a polite gentleman who told us they are closed on Sunday, and this was a private party.
I asked him where we might find some tasty BBQ, and he quickly gets the owner. I asked again, and he shook his head and said, "This place is the best, and I can't send you no where else. Come in, sit down, and make yourselves a plate."
I was shocked. Bewildered. He was so genuine, it would have seemed rude to politely decline his generous offer. So we came in and sat down.
There was probably 100 people in there eating, having a great time. Not that it matters, but we were the only white folks there.
Several people (party guests) approached our table. They greeted us, asked us how we were doing, asked if we like the food, and is there anything else they could get for us. This food was so good....My Lord, it was all incredible!!
Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Evans, owners of True BBQ, blessed my family on this vacation. It was Mrs. Evans brother's 50th birthday party. But it was our hearts that were filled, and we were so humbled. Their family truly inspired a spark of hope in us, that everything really is gonna be alright. Food and Love are powerful.
If you have not tried True BBQ, I HIGHLY recommend it! This is my 4th week in a row of eating there and it is without question the best bbq I've had in 35 years at the beach. Today, I tried the smoked brisket. I'm a SC girl so, to me, bbq means pork, but this brisket was so tender that chewing was optional...lol..and it was delicious. Of course, I got a pound of pork to bring home. They only have picnic tables but the food is so good I don't even notice the traffic whizzing by. They're open Thurs, Fri, and Sat.
Omg this place is sooo good!!! We are from pa and we are on vacation , everyone wanted bbq for dinner. We where on our way to sticky fingures for dinner we seen this place on the way! Omg we are so glad that we stop. Food was amazing, services Was great, we were so full we couldn't stop eating it. If your in myrtle beach area and want bab stop here, you won't be sorry!!! We might stop again before we head home!!!
I had given up on BBQ. It all treated the same and the meats were so-so at best. Until True BBQ! This place is absolutely the BEST BBQ I have had in over 40 years! The meats are beyond perfect; absolutely all the sauces are to die for! The staff is terrific. Guaranteed to be my go-to BBQ restaurant.
Best smoked BBQ on the Grand Strand! Also, the best hash and rice that I have ever had in SC! We will definitely be back! And, the wait staff is awesome!

Lunch buffet was great! Good service, food was seasoned to perfection. The owner was very friendly and made sure he stopped at the table to make sure everything was to our liking! We will definitely be back!!

Six unique different barbecue sauces from traditional flavors - tomato mustard or vinegar based. Try the one with the touch of cinnamon. The menu also includes Barbecue Ribs and Chicken. Can't wait to try those too. For the sweet tooth there is a desert bar you can try homemade desserts. We purchased Brisket, Pulled Chicken, and 1/2 rack of ribs off the Bulk menu and brought it home to watch a football game. Finished off the Brisket and Ribs immediately. Put the Chicken on BBQ Chicken Nachos. The best BBQ, and sweet, helpful staff. The place was spotless!
Best BBQ. I have had since I moved here! Tried Prossers, hog heaven, Lil pig and one on 17 in Surfside and true BBQ. Beats them all!! The hash and ribs are off the chain. I love hash and this is the best!!!! Thanks True BBQ.
Wow! What a find! The food is fantastic-the potato salad was unusual and unlike any I have had before and it was utterly delicious!! Beef brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken were all wonderful; the ribs actually fell right off the bone-not a piece left stuck to the bone. Fried biscuits were soooo good-we had the homemade apple topping and it was incredible. The women here are so friendly and man, can they cook up some food!

Loved this place as a hole in the wall with outside picnic benches. Feels how BBQ should be served. I really enjoyed the food. I couldn’t tell if the bbq was oven baked like some claim, but I thought it was very tasty. I loved the baked mac. Had the crispy layer on top. The slaw was very good as well. I’d definitely eat here again. I think it’s probably closer to 4.5 on my rating system. I even had the chance to meet the owners parents. Very nice folks!!
Don't let this small little roadside stand fool you, they know exactly what they're doing when it comes to barbecue! The brisket and ribs were cooked perfectly, the chicken had the most flavourful smokey taste and the pork barbecue was phenomenal. We had the green beans, Mac and cheese, and baked beans. All of which were so flavourful and delightful. The owner was also wonderful! Small mom and pop places like this make dining so much more fun and delicious! Can't wait to go back!
Amazing BBQ! Some of the best fall off the bone ribs I've ever had. Seasoning mix was awesome for all 4 meats we tried. You don't need sauce because the flavor is so good but thier sauces were well made and tasted amazing. Try the Uncle Jah with the chicken. The brisket was juicy and cooked to perfection no sauce needed just enjoy. If there were more stars to give they'd have them.😊 Pricing is great lot of food we split the large sampler and will still have enough for another meal.
Great food, kind family, if you want good barbecue it’s great. Always support a small business, and this is a one that offers a great product.
Those ribs ain't nothing but the Truth!!! They were cooked good and they were juicy. I liked the vinegar based BBQ sauce. The beans were the Bomb!!
I've been passing this little stop since I moved there, but I'm so happy I stopped today. The young lady and the gentleman that took my order were so nice and personable. I look forward to returning to True BBQ again.
The name isn't a lie. I'm from GA, and living in the north for a few years has made me miss my hometown that had 3 great BBQ places in a 5 minute radius. The pulled pork, sauces, slaw, and fried okra made me feel at home again, and the sandy lot and shack just add to the experience.
REALLY nice folks & the best BBQ I've had down here. Their BBQ is like the BBQ I remember from back home around Eastern NC. They remember their customers, are always friendly & always have a kind word. My wife,TJ & I LOVE this place !!!
I’m from Aiken County, and Carolina BBQ in New Ellenton was my favorite. Well I have a new favorite now, the flavor so rich and ribs, the meat falls off the bone. That potato salad taste so good, it will make you want to slap somebody. Wow can’t believe I’ve been here 5 years and just discovered it.
The Brisket was fantastic and juicy , I got Mac and cheese and potato salad and both were delicious, and the sauce?!? I had to come back and purchase a few extra for home , the young lady at the window was very well mannered and the young man moved with ease through multiple orders at a time. I read the reviews and it’s definitely not a waste of time , a family owned business is hard to come by these days!
True BBQ is the hidden gem in Socastee, SC. Come out and see Tineka and her family Thu-Sat. Beef brisket sandwich as on point! Sauces and sides were handmade. Definitely coming back. 5-star Barbecue.
Wow! That was a seriously tasty pulled pork sandwich. We are here for a baseball tournament and gave this place it a try. So glad we did! The fries were cooked perfectly too.
Hands down some of the best bbq I’ve ever had. I agree with some of the other posts and reviews. This doesn’t look like much; but man they pack a ton of flavor and amazing food. I went with my mom today for lunch and she was blown away. The customer service and friendliness of the staff, matches the quality of the food. I got the pulled chicken sandwich, she got the pulled pork sandwich, and we shared a side of fries. All were 100%. True BBQ is a must try in Myrtle Beach.
No frills facility but the best ribs I’ve had to date and I am 67 years old. Meaty spare ribs with an amazing flavor. Slowly smoked over a blend of cherry, hickory and apple woods Outstanding
Worth every dollar I spent!!! The food is to die for. So much flavor and the meat is seasoned well. Will definitely be going back again! Don’t ride by stop and see what this small business has to offer!
I usually ride to Charleston to get my barbeque, but, True BBQ has changed that! You'll get good portions of everything and you can taste the " LOVE" in the food! Abd they have at least five(5) that will make the food " sing" to you and you can buy these sauces as well! They're only open from Thursday to Saturday AND I wish they were open every day!
First off, oh my God, the food was amazing!!! I ordered the beef brisket sandwich with baked beans and rice and hash. Everything was seasoned and cooked with the loving hands of their ancestors. The kids devoured the mac's cheese, my girl ordered the ribs that was smoked to perfection. Do yourself a favor and order from this hidden gem.
I drove by this place a lot. Decided to finally stop and try some barbecue because the word on this place was pretty positive. I love ribs so I ordered ribs and got mac n cheese and cole slaw for my sides. Right away, the nostrils were hit by the aroma of real barbecue. The ribs were excellent. All of the food was good. I tried their sweet sauce, pretty good on the ribs. I am glad I stopped.
