Reviews Arnold's Country Kitchen

Ace food critic Jimmy Changa was dispatched to Arnold's Country Kitchen today for his review of Friday's lunch special. Actually, that is fake news. No one from this publication dispatched him. It was lunch time, he was hungry, and had a pencil that he had not eaten. Here is his report. The first thing to catch my eye was a coat rack, which I did not see because I was so hungry my eyes were watering. Thus blinded, I was forced to try reading the menu by the braille technique. I was slapped three times by women standing in line when I confused them with the menu board. I apologized profusely, and soon we got along fine. They turned out to be tourists from the frozen tundra of Yankee lands, and had never been to Arnold's before. Even tourists from the frozen tundra of Yankee Land know where to go in Nashville for a great lunch. Being Yankees, they had no knowledge of good home-style southern cooking, or even good food for that matter. They asked our advice on what to order. I got slapped a few more times as I tried to explain it to them using my Braille technique, which I suppose is not appreciated in Yankee Land. I told them that Arnold's is famous for the roast beef, sliced so thin it only has one side. The fried green tomatoes are to die for, the mac-n-cheese is fantabulous, as is the green beans cooked with bacon and other secret southern influence. You can't go wrong with the fired okra, but regretfully it was not on the menu that day. Top it off with some pecan pie, banana pudding, or for the adventurous soul, the "Hot pepper chocolate pie", and you will be the envy of your Yankee neighbors when you go home and regale them with tales of how fast a long line can move, as opposed to Walmart, where 80,472 people stand in line for the only register open. They were so pleased with my suggestions that they invited me to their hotel room to practice their Braille technique! It just doesn't get any better, than lunch at Arnold's!

This is one of 10 best in Nashville and voted best mac and cheese! I've brought friends and family and it's always worth it. The catfish with greens and sides plus delicious hot pepper chocolate pie brings me back.

It’s an understatement that Arnold’s is an enduring icon of Nashville. I’ve never experienced a “Meat-&-3” place that does it any better. Opens at 11am, and a line forms a bit before Noon that lasts until closing (2-ish). Totally worth it.

If you want to go truly local this is the place to eat. A Meat & 3 spot 1. Each days has a variety of meat and veggie specials. One meat plus 1, 2 or 3 veggies. Comes with your choice of bread, including dinner roll or corn bread. Pie is extra and DONT miss out. I had cherry smoked brisket plus green beans and turnip greens. Corn bread muffin and chocolate chess pie. VERY Satisfied and full 2. Staff? True southern hospitality. Friendly and polite. They want you to like this place and come back. Proud of being here 3. Place. It’s a local eatery so it has that feel. Adds to the overall happiness I had at being here. 4. Customers. Not a tourist trap. Yes there are tourists here but well intertwined with locals.

Your food is absolutely fantastic. I love the way you put different twist on basic food such as macaroni and cheese and green beans and roast beef . I cook this type of food myself and I am very critical on restaurants that do not season food very much. This will definitely become a place I visit often.

So good, I came back again!! I was only in Nashville for the weekend and I was recommended to come here. I love my BBQ food and if you like to cook it well, like myself, it's always very hard to find good BBQ not made at home. Arnold's absolutely smashed it. The brisket was one of the best I'd ever had. The jalapeno grits is probably one of the best things I've ever experienced. The folks there were so accommodating to the Brit who had never had 'meat and 3' before. Would recommend this place to everyone that is lucky enough to visit Nashville. Thank you so much to the chefs and staff at Arnolds ❤️

We had our wedding reception and rented the entire place out on a Sunday. Kahlil and his crew took care of everything including the DJ/karaoke! Food was awesome as always and Courtney is the best bartender. The entire vibe makes you feel like family when you walk in the door.

This place is worth every penny. I was apprehensive seeing the cafeteria style ordering. But I was wrong to judge. The staff is super friendly. They told us which sides they liked. We got a mix and loved it all. Not sure if you can go wrong here.

Hot dog! This was some good southern cooking. The staff are so friendly and the roast beef was delectable! Was the dumplings a little salty? Yes. Do I need probably need blood work done now? Yes. But so worth it! Sides are great too, can’t go wrong with any of them. Yum!

This place was amazing. I really enjoyed most of what I got here. The things I particularly enjoyed were the specials chicken fried chicken and brisket crunchy taco. In addition to this really enjoyed the grouper. The service / employees also were really nice and were very patient in explaining ingredients for dietary restrictions

The Mrs. Ordered 1/2 BBQ flash fried with Alabama white sauce and Mac and cheese w/mashed potatoes and turnip greens. Definitely worth every dollar and the owner khalil interacts with every one.

We went here because it was featured on DDD. Did not disappoint. Love the old school cafeteria style dining and the food was excellent. Had the fried chicken Mac and cheese and bread pudding. It was awesome! Would definitely go back. My wife had the sugar cured ham and greens and she loved both of them.

Saw good reviews about this place, wanted to try Southern food and wow! It was amazing. The experience was neat, to get your food it is cafeteria style. Prices are very reasonable , I got the fried catfish with 3 sides. The grits and the coleslaw is a must try. Everything we ate was very good especially the grits. Definitely felt like an authentic experience and the customer service was amazing as well! Felt welcomed and the workers were super friendly. Definitely recommend trying if you are in Nashville. Hope to visit again before I leave!

Saw this place on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and my husband insisted we go for the chicken and dumplings. We went on a Saturday so they had no chicken and dumplings, but we did not miss it one bit! I got Roast Beef, he got Brisket... Both amazing! The green beans and Mac and cheese were both authentically homemade and delicious, and so were the collard greens, something neither my husband or I were really looking forward to. Our expectations were blown out of the water as we both genuinely enjoyed them.

Food wasn't bad. The people that worked here were helpful and nice, but from what I got from being anywhere in Tennessee, everybody is nice! They give you that southern comfort feeling and make you feel right at home just like they did here at Arnold's. I appreciated the service and the company because even though we came in here straight from the airport, they told us that we're welcome to take a little more space just so that we were comfortable.
