Butter Chicken and Mattar Paneer Over Vegetable Rice with Chili Chicken and Naan on the Side. Best combo you can get here. Very authentic. The Butter Chicken and Mattar Paneer are on the mild side but the Chili Chicken is spicy and incredible on the side. I completely agree with another reviewer that the Chili Chicken is Nashville's other hot chicken. We need a lot more variety here in this town and we got some semblance of it here at Swagruha!
One word. Dosa.
It's the best in the city. Get the masala dosa. Seriously, it'll rock your world.
Love the Goat!!!. Goat is tender and succulent, the gravy is aromatic and flavorful!! Service has always been with a smile as well. I have had their chicken masala that was wonderful, had a nice tang to it that was memorable!! The food has a homey feel to it!! Glad to have it so near me!!
Delicious, generous portions!. I'm a regular now--- I haven't found better Indian food in Nashville. Don't let the walk up counter (inside the farmers market) stop you....
The best Indian in Nashville. If you like spicy delicious food Swagruha is for you. I eat it 3 or 4 times a week. The depth of flavor is unrivaled in Nashville and I've eaten at all of the Indian places here. Such spicy and comforting food made with love by Siva and her family. I tell her I'd pay twice as much. So much food for under $8 with drink. Dosa, chicken tikka masala, chole, chicken biryani, chicken 65 and sambar are my favorites. It's all so so good.
So GOOD!!!!!. My fiance and I love Indian food and have eaten at every Indian restaurant we can find. This place by far is the best! Not only is the food amazing but the family that runs the place really make you feel great remembering us and asking how the other is doing if for some reason we don't go together! If they were only open for dinner :(! Hopefully they will get the sit down restaurant up and running soon. Try the goat curry!!!!!! sooooooooooo spicy. :)
This was really yummy food! They give you a ton of food for under $10! Just spicy enough for my American tastebuds!
ELITE. So I've been in Nashville all my life. I've eaten at every Indian restaurant here multiple times, eat Indian at home almost every other day, go to India every year. I've been around Indian. Listen up Nashville, these guys have so much SWAG, they had to had the "ruha" just to contain so much from emitting from the kitchen. This place is beyond authentic... authentic isn't even as good as what Swagruha has to offer. Nothing in the city COMES CLOSE. Not going to lie, the people they have behind the counter are attractive! Not only are they real eye candy, but they have an amazing demeanor and carry themselves with humility. Swagruha is one of the precious gemstones in Nashville... The giant rare emerald of precious gemstones. This city is becoming international, and what better way to embrace this culture than eating a TON OF FOOD AT SWAGRUHA. Go eat my friends.
Outstanding. I was dubious, after all it was a steam table at the farmer's market. After eating my huge portion of goat curry, I was converted. Both of my courses were picante and flavorful, with a complexity of flavors that probably benefits from the steam table. As a bonus, the 2 smiling folks staffing the booth were friendly and engaging. I think they knew that they had something exceptional to provide.
THE reason to eat Indian food.. I've had Indian all over town. Every time someone raves about a place, I've checked it out. None of them come anywhere close to Swagruha. I'm officially done trying other places. Eating a burger and fries is better than eating Non-Swagruha Indian. I will not defile my tongue with any of the lesser places.
(BTW: I'm writing this while eating my leftovers from the ABSURDLY huge portion of food I was served. MMMMmmmmm).
Fantastic food, service and price!. I'm blown away every time I eat at Swagruha. Before every visit I think, "Surely it can't be as good as I remember." It's always better than I remember. This family owned and operated business inside the Nashville Farmer's Market has the taste and heart of my grandmother's kitchen--assuming my g'ma was Indian. I swoon over the goat and lamb curry and crave the na'an and desserts. Each member of the family treats you as a guest in their home. From what I can see, the kitchen and serving area are spotlessly clean with a 99 health department score. They are probably cleaner than my kitchen at home! And who can beat $6.49 for a mounding plate of food?! I think they could easily charge more for this fantastic feast (but don't tell them I said so!). Come on out with a big appetite and a big bottle of water for those killer curries! Tell them I said hi!
Fabulous Indian Food!. We had lunch at Swagruha today. This wonderful Indian restaurant is located in the Nashville Farmer's Market located on Rosa Parks Ave. The food is excellent, well-spiced and absolutely delicious! I love the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, as well as the channa masala. My husband loves the goat and lamb curries, as well as the chili chicken and the chicken curry. Today we had mango pudding for dessert, which was smooth and creamy, with bits of mango and just the right amount of sweetness - a delicious treat for the end of a spicy meal. The owners and servers are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied with your dining experience! The restaurant also now has some of their spicy snack mixes for sale in the International market at the Farmer's Market as well. This is one of our absolutely favorite restaurants in Nashville, and as a bonus we get lots of grocery shopping done at the Farmer's Market too!
So good. What a wonderful place. They heap tons of food you your plate for a very good price. Great for a carnivore or herbivore. The taste of the food always brings me back.
Friendly, yummy, and cheap. What a lovely find in the Farmer's Market. You get a huge selection of yummy Indian food for very little money. The service is friendly, the food is great, and the price is right.
Wow! That's the only thing I could say after eating at Swagruha. As an avid fan of Indian food, I can certainly say that Swagruha is by far the best! Definitely check this place out. You won't be sorry.
The food here is amazing and so cheap! You get too much food for your money! Definitely the best Indian food in Nashville. I give it 5 stars!
For $6.95, you get a huge pile of either veggie or chicken rice, 1 meat, 1 veggie, 3 pieces of naan, and some raita. I ordered the amazing butter chicken, veggie rice, chickpea curry, and a sample of the chili chicken. My man got the veggie rice, goat and lamb curry, and chickpea curry.
We like to sample. Give us a bunch of dishes to try and we’re in heaven. It’s easy to do at a buffet and tapas is made for sampling. But sampling with a $6.49 lunch plate? It can be done at Swagruha Indian restaurant, the creation of Vijay and Siva Pavulu
Stopped by for a quick lunch while shopping around at the Farmers' Market. Ordered the Goat Curry, Vegetable Rice, Lentils, and Vegetable Samosa. Service wasn't too friendly, but was efficient. Since everything is already made, they packed it up in a Styrofoam container and I was on my way to find a table.
Food was decent and good for the Farmers' Market, but I've had better options. It was a little lacking on the flavor and spice for me, but not necessarily bad. If you're in the mood for Indian Food at the Farmers' Market, then it's a good option.
My wife ordered a chicken dish and I wanted to try their vegetable rice with vegetable curry. I ordered just a side size and literally blew my socks right off. Medium spice, absolutely the best vegetable curry I have ever had. I must have told my wife that at least 6 times while I spooned ever last grain down.
Quick and flavorful curries. Definitely recommend trying them out if you're on the fence.
I thought I would be disappointed by the appearance but it blew me away. This is some of the most amazing food I have ever tasted. WILL be back!
My favorite quick lunch spot! The chili chicken and Veggie Curry are both incredible and it’s one of the most reasonably priced Indian spots in town. Try the Samosa too if they have it.
I have eaten at every Indian restaurant in the Greater Nashville Metro area, and this is my favorite Indian food around. The quality is outstanding every single time. I love all of the spicy meat curries, the vegetable korma, and chili chicken. It’s Southern Indian, so lots of great spicy options. My wife and I are regular customers, and the owner is always so friendly. I hope this place is around for a very long time.
So good my husband and I came back two days in a row! A definite must try!
I've been dining here for years and have to give a well deserved shout out to Swagruha. The quality of the food and taste is always on point but what sets them apart is the owner who really cares about giving good service along with great food.
Don't be fooled by this tiny little stall. Some of the Indian restaurants in their brick n mortar buildings have nothing on her food quality! For $9.49 you get rice, 2 curries and naan. It used to be 2 meat curries before the pandemic but with rising food prices she kept the price low and offers 1 meat and 1 veggie curry.
Her pricing is probably the best of all the food stalls in the Farmer's market as well as authentic and delicious!
We make sure to stop by every time we are at the farmers market. The food is delicious, the service is always kind, and the portions are very generous.
Nashville-native and I can't find anything that matches the quality and taste of Swaghura. I've been going for years, sometimes weekly, for the chili chicken and paneer. This spot never disappoints. Best Indian in Nashville by my account. Highly recommend.
Unbelievable taste at an unbelievable price. We have eaten here many times in the past and brought along quite a few to eat with us as well. The consensus is always the same. The best. Hands Down. If you like hot then this is the place to go, get the goat curry (amazing flavor) and the Chili chicken. I always grab two cheap bottles of water while enjoying the heat! While the atmosphere leaves much to be desired the quality and value more than compensate. Oh yeah... they close at 4PM on sat. and sun. so make it a lunch!
I've eaten here nearly once a week for going on 2 years. For your money, there isn't a better spot for lunch in all of Nashville (if you typically enjoy Indian food, you will absolutely love the chicken tikka). There are lots of delicious options, lots of spice if you want it, and very generous portions. The fact that it's local and family owned is also a big plus.
they are the reason i fell in love with Indian food. They were a vendor at Bonnaroo in 2015 and my friend told me to give it a try and i did. It was the best decision EVERRRR. I ended up eating there 3 more times during the festival and i just want to thank them because if it wasn't for them i would most likely never tried indian food. I wish this place was closer to where i lived but if i am ever in nashville I know i will have to stop by and eat there food again!!
All the reviews are right - truly reminiscent of a restaurant in India itself with hot delicious rice, vegetarian, and meat dishes. A taste of home away from home
