Parking is limited. Dark, moody restaurant. Medium sized and open fired cooking so you will smell smokey. Small menu but the food is the star. The corn ribs are sooooo good. So flavorful. That's what stuck about the food...it was well cooked and flavorful. Focaccia, pork chop, rib eye and NY strip were all happily enjoyed. The potatoes were a little sour for me but cooked excellently. I would recommend and go back.
Wow. Just wow. The atmosphere was so fun and cozy, I love how moody the decor was. Our server was incredible, he had excellent recommendations and made sure we ordered enough food for the three of us to share. For a nice red wine he recommended the Malbec which was incredible and a great pour. We decided to try the corn ribs, panzanella, brussel sprouts, yukons, ribeye, and cookies. Everything was absolutely incredible, but the panzanella really stood out. I’ve never had anything like it, and I’m usually not a blackberry person but the cream sauce, tomatoes, and blackberries complimented each other perfectly. If you could only get a few items I’d recommend ordering the panzanella, brussels, and ribeye but you can’t go wrong with anything here.
Get the corn ribs. I don't know why these are so amazing but they are. I love corn, but even for me this is another level of corn preparation. They are so good. The rest of the meal was also very, very good. My pork chop was huge and perfectly cooked. Meat eaters will rejoice at this restaurant. Lots of options for a hearty meal.
We ordered, tartar, mussels, Brussels, corn ribs, and the pork chop. Each one was uniquely distinct and delicious but it didn't taste like a cohesive meal. We kept comparing it to the judges table on Top Chef, each item individually was delicious but together it was a little disjointed. I would have loved a chef's tasting menu to get a series of flavors built by an expert chef instead of us just picking randomly. Overall, great flavors and we will be back!
The pork chop and New York strip were the two best cuts of meats we’ve ever had. The brussel sprouts and focaccia were the best appetizers we’ve ever had. Service could’ve been a little better but the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had from a food stand point
It’s always a good reality check to visit a truly exceptional restaurant. Too often, I visit “highly rated” restaurants where the locals are enamored with the ambiance and owner, but the food is average. (See my other reviews)
Pelican and Pig was my reality check. Exceptional! I stopped in on layover in Nashville and was impressed from beginning to end.
The cocktails are familiar but well conceived. I had one with tequila and splash of Campari. It was a delicate balancing act that bartender pulled off!
The food from start to finish was outstanding. The oysters were fresh, with a delish mignonette topped with a slice of jalapeño. I hate carrots but ordered based on reco from bartender. Good choice! Perfectly grilled with a sauce that’s hard to describe. The rib eye was incredible. The whipped blue cheese a perfect complement to an outstanding cut of meat that was perfectly cooked. Wow! (I am a steak snob)
I loved this place. The bartender was a delight. Very helpful, engaging and knowledgeable. Thank you tor sanity checking my expectations!
Good lord this food is good. I grew up surrounded by corn. My high school mascot was “a field of corn blowing in the wind” (I wish I was joking). This corn was hands down the best corn I’ve ever eaten. The focaccia bread was absolutely amazing as well. It was made even better by dipping it in the left over sauce from the corn. Our main course hasn’t even arrived and I was so impressed I had to submit this review!
Update: our main course arrived and blew me away. The fish was amazing. The flavors played together in the most beautiful way possible. It’s like watching the 90s Bulls play the Lakers. The pork chop was divine. Can I give this place a 6th star?
The food here?! Chef's kiss! The service was great as well. I had heard about the corn ribs and they didn't disappoint; the well seasoned smokey flavor was EVERYTHING. The Rainbow Trout dish was flavorful as well; moist flesh with crispy skin laid upon some diced vegetables and green olives. Very pleasant to the taste buds. The Brussels Sprouts were of admirable size and tossed in a savory sauce. The finger potatoes and salad were delicious as well. The bartender prepared great drinks. I'll definitely be back when visiting Nashville again.
The property is small but cozy. We were lucky enough to get a seat at the bar and enjoy the full menu. You may want to make reservations as table seating is limited.
Wonderful dinner here! Everything was delicious. Great wait staff, and environment! Highly recommend the chef's counter.
I had a great time. Here for a work trip and sat at the bar with Alannah. The recommendations she made were perfect - corn ribs, strip steak and cookies for dessert! Plus she made me a great mocktail. The vibe was really cool in there and everybody was super friendly! Don’t normally write reviews but had to do it for this one 🤠.
