I have been meaning to try this cafe but couldn’t quite get the timing right (open for lunch on weekdays only). It was worth the wait. Gruene offers bbq, chicken fried steak and so many other tasty Texan dishes that tend to expand the waste. Naturally cafe comes to the rescue offering colorful, healthy, and tasty dishes for vegans, carnivores, gluten sensitive, and other selective eaters. I enjoyed my chicken sandwich with vegan bacon on gluten free bread. The bread was surprisingly tasty (not dry or chewy as I’ve found with some gluten free breads). I also sampled the antioxidant bomb and enjoyed - very balanced savory with a bit of sweet.
The decor is bright and colorful. Every corner is oozing with joy and charm.
I will be back, but I only wish they were open beyond lunch.
Everything was SO good. Their gluten free bread was great.. most are dry / grainy, you wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference from regular bread. The tomato soup & club combo was incredible, green juice was perfect & the gluten free brownie was impressive! It is hard to find restaurants catered to our gluten / dairy free diets.. we will definitely be back!!
Atmosphere: Funky, colorful, happy, clean and relaxed. Tucked away from the noise and chaos in Gruene.
Service: Slow on this visit, but it was close to closing time.
Food: Great presentation, sandwiches are served on pressed 8 grain bread. Chicken salad is tasty, but I'm not a huge fan of cranberries. Mom had chicken, bacon, avocado and loved it. Everything is fresh and delicious.
Pricing: $27 for 2 sandwiches, 1 bag of chips, and drinks
PLEASE TRY THIS AMAZING CAFÉ. It's located in Gruene Lake Village, very close to the Gruene Historic District. I first discovered this awesome restaurant when in the area. As I passed by the open back door, I was impressed with the almost immaculate back kitchen prep area.
The front-of-house is equally impressive; again, extremely clean and inviting. A sampling of menu items includes sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads, house specialty quiches and smoothies. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and all-around delicious; incorporating locally-grown ingredients whenever possible.
This casual restaurant is spacious and beautifully decorated. The owners and their staff are completely customer-oriented, providing excellent service and attention.
PET LOVERS: It's also PET FRIENDLY with outdoor seating and service. I like to recommend superior local restaurants that appreciate customers.
If you live in or visit the Gruene area, you should definitely try this wonderful restaurant.
Sadly came just as they were closing, but got food to go. Charming fresh green interior w friendly staff. Vegan friendly upon adjustment but no straight up vegan items. Today was my lucky day. Vegan butternut squash with chipotle SOUP! ❤❤❤. Coulda murdered a brew but no hot tea here. I will return when next in Gruene.
Update. I just inhaled my soup and sandwich in my car as I was sooo hungry. Both were beyond delicious, fantastic BUT I wish I had purchased the full sandwich and soup as I had initially ordered. I am still hungry.
If you ever make a vegan quiche, I will walk here from San Antonio 🚶♀️
Love the fresh juices and torta but now I'm in love with the desserts!! Very nice owner Mike. Digging this NB local spot. PS thanks for the kids area!
Bring cash if you love small businesses!! Really enjoyed the grilled sandwich. Also got a salad that I couldn't finish but it kept well in the cooler and made a great fresh dinner when we made it back to Dallas.
Small store front but parking was not a problem and the restaurant was clean and bright. With the cutest furbabies photos on the wall.
