We stopped here to get pralines as gift souvenirs and also tried the praline beignets and a sweet potato pie. The beignets were made fresh and topped with warm praline sauce. They were soft and such a delightful treat to bite into. They are super sweet, and would be good with unsweet tea or coffee. We ate the pie the next day after traveling home and it was still fresh and also just as tasty, albeit a bit less sweet. The pralines were a hit with the family. Service was excellent and friendly as we had questions about pricing and the menu. It had a line the whole time we were there (Sunday afternoon in December) and I see why. Highly recommend.
You have to try it! They have chocolate filled beignets and other filling options also. This was one of my favorite stops. I also loved the positive faith quotes on the wall. It was nice to see a word from God on there! :)
It’s a nice family eatery. But the price? Pretty high.
It’s good, tasty but for the price? It’s fine. I do recommend it and support local but is it an amazing beignet? Hm, it’s good. Enjoyable but below amazing. Note: We ordered the burger version, praline, original, crab etc.
Original? I prefer this one, but is it better than others? Similar.
Burger is based on the hot sausage. It’s solid but the spice was underwhelming.
Praline? Way too sweet. It’s an American thing. As an Asian American, the four of us had to throw some of the praline sweetness.
Crab? Great. This one was very good but for the price, it gives major pause.
Overall, satisfied but price is a major flaw for me.
We were told about this place on a recent food tour. We were advised that they were probably the best beignets in New Orleans (yes, better than cafe du monde).
We decided to return the next day so my husband can try them. He ordered the original beignet and said they were really good. They were so light!
They’re cooked fresh so there’s a short wait for them but less than 5mins
Loretta’s in New Orleans is a hidden gem that serves up the best beignets in the city. From the moment you take your first bite of their fluffy, perfectly fried beignets, you’ll understand why this place is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The beignets at Loretta’s are truly exceptional, but the real standout is their praline stuffed beignets. The combination of the light, pillowy dough and the rich, gooey praline filling creates a truly indulgent treat that will leave you craving for more.
But the deliciousness doesn’t end with the beignets at Loretta’s. Their sweet potato pies are an absolute must-try. With a buttery, flaky crust and a velvety smooth sweet potato filling, these pies are simply irresistible. Each bite is a heavenly blend of comforting flavors that will transport you to a place of culinary bliss.
What makes Loretta’s even more special is the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly, and their passion for their craft is evident in every aspect of the experience. Whether you’re dining inside the cozy café or enjoying your treats outside in the lively streets of New Orleans, the ambiance adds a touch of magic to your visit.
Loretta’s commitment to quality and authentic flavors shines through in every bite. The attention to detail and the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients make their beignets and sweet potato pies truly exceptional. It’s evident that a lot of love and care goes into each creation.
The next time you find yourself in New Orleans, be sure to make a stop at Loretta’s. You won’t be disappointed. Indulge in their mouthwatering praline stuffed beignets and treat yourself to the heavenly sweet potato pies. Your taste buds will thank you, and you’ll understand why Loretta’s is a beloved institution in the city.
You better get you one of these! Arguably the best beignets in the city!! So damn good it melts in your mouth. Soft, moist, flavorful with a subtle crunch. Whew! If you wanna taste the real deal. Come here, and quick.
Loretta's is SOOOO gewd I will drive 400 miles again from Alabama just to have her crabmeat stuffed beignets!! No shade, but no other beignet shoppe can touch Miss Loretta's and if you think not, I accept the challenge!!! All in all, this foodie field trip to Nawlins was started and ended with a bang due in part to the gewdness in both food and friendliness of the proprietor. If you are seeking no frills, all taste then you have it here!.
If you want an authentic beignet experience, GO HERE. Yes, you will stand in a long line. Yes, it will be hot because, well, it's New Orleans. But...it is absolutely worth it. Loretta's cost more than her competitors, like Cafe Dumond and Cafe Beignet. That's okay because once you sample those beignets, you will absolutely be okay with spending a little more. We had the regular and the praline filled beignets and they were fantastic. There are also savory options.... Loretta is not here for games. So when in NOLA go where the natives go. You will not be disappointed.
I was recommended to visit here from both a coworker and my driver. I ordered butter pecan beignets and crawfish beignets. I definitely should have ordered the traditional beignets as well.
We tried Loretta's on our way to the airport.....they did not disappoint!
The line was long (to be expected)....but it was fast moving.
I heard about the crab beignet... we decided to try. Totally awesome! Was so mad, I only purchased 1. I went back in the line and purchased 2 more.
I cannot wait to go back to this place
Oh, the workers were absolutely amazing....
