Very nice, cozy atmosphere. Beautiful old "Nawlins" architecture and decor. Service was excellent, friendly staff. The food also was outstanding. The shrimp and grits tasted very good. Double cut pork chop was moist, tasty and tender. The chocolate cake was incredible, but was more a piece of soft fudge than cake. Very impressed with the whole experience, will be back when I'm in town again.
This place is an institution, it is an experience, it is extraordinary. The food is extraordinary. The service is top tier. The atmosphere is wonderful. The building is gorgeous. The history is richer that the demi-glace. Probably the only pleasantly haunted building I've explored in New Orleans. Where the other ones are super creepy in their hidden haunts, this one is, well, pleasant. Maybe Pierre was simply in good humor while I was reclining in the seance room.
The hostess (Sandra) was so sweet today even though they were slammed- Mona was our server and was kind and attentive. The venue is beautiful, and the jazz band is
wildly personable and fun.
We’ve tried a handful of restaurants since arriving last week (all allegedly noteworthy) and Muriel’s clearly doesn’t need to coast on their historical venue alone- as many places do.
All of our dishes were beautifully seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Difficult to achieve on assumably the busiest day of their week with a high volume of guests. I was deeply impressed and appreciative that Muriel’s back of house is able to maintain the consistency and quality of meal they presented to us.
Had the pumpkin bisque and duck hash, and was offered a bite of the banana fosters French toast- all amazing and exceeding expectations.
We will be returning either for cocktails- or again for a meal during our next trip.
Thanks for a good time y’all !
EDIT: I went back for dinner the next evening without reservation. Jason & Patty were my servers and they were both wonderful/attentive, as expected.
I had the turtle soup, shrimp and grits, bread pudding- and a sazerac. Again, all cooked and seasoned to perfection. Can’t wait to visit again !
We celebrated our wedding anniversary here, and it was fantastic. All the food and drinks were amazing, and the staff was so friendly. At least 4 different people swung by our table to say Happy Anniversary.
I wanted to have dinner with the ghost, but the table was already booked. Next time!
Amazing food equivalent to many of the higher end place in NO, but without the price tag. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the experience for Sunday brunch was great.
Servers were amazing but the white guy host with a twisted mustache had a seemingly terrible attitude. His overall attitude was poor after we requested a window table. I'd suspect his pet bird mightve died or he was having a bad day, but his attitude is the only thing keeping my experience there from being 5 stars.
Best food ever during the stay and worst host experience.
Came here for the Sunday Jazz brunch and really enjoyed the live music as they were going up to different tables playing requested tunes. The customer service was very nice and waitresses were attentive. I ordered the wedge salad and the duck hash. I can say the salad was delicious and filling but the hash fell short as it was extremely dry even with the poached eggs, sauce on top. I’m sure they have better options but the meal I chose wasn’t it. Overall, my experience was ok as the live music and mimosa was nice.
We casually discovered this restaurant because it's literally attached to the hotel we stayed in. It was a very pleasant surprise! Food is delicious and beautifully arranged, service is impeccable. We had the onion tart, vista and blackened salmon. Yum all of them! The high point of my day was their amazing bread pudding, served warm and with crunchy caramel. I truly wish I had 2 stomachs 😅
Great brunch experience here. About 160 for our party of 4, each with one drink. Food was fantastic, especially the blackened catfish. Highly recommend for an elevated meal.
We had such a great brunch! Jimmy was so personable and helpful. We had many connections. The food was amazing! We had the shrimp and grit and the duck hash. The flavor was incredible and everything was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back for more!
My husband and I were on a 3 week road trip to the south from Canada. Muriel's was recommended to us through a Facebook group as "the" place to go for one special dinner while in New Orleans. It did not disappoint! We had reserved a table ahead, so we were shown to a beautiful, private table by the window. Tables were divided by hanging screens of prints, so aside from the ambience of the entire room, Monet was my backdrop! We had 3 separate servers. One who took our beverage order and made sure we had full glasses for the evening (I started with a Vampire's Kiss); another who attentively guided us through the menu to design a perfect meal a separate server who quietly whisked away our dishes, when done. The meal was fantastic and flowed casually, as we requested, so we could savor the evening. It was a rainy night, so looking out on the old street and nearby piazza, it felt very European. After dinner we were allowed to self tour the upstairs, which was a posh expanse of elegance. Also, there is a ghost!! and they set a table for him every night. Don't miss this classy, scrumptious, gem of a place, while in New Orleans. Most memorable meal of our trip!
