If you haven't been to this southern classic cafe in NOLA, you just have not fully experienced the NOLA. The food is just awesome -- always well prepared and carefully seasoned! The intoxicating, welcoming southern care and hospitality made our dining experience an extraordinary one!

Craving for Crawfish Étouffée since we arrived in NOLA. A quick search on Yelp led us to this little joint. Bon Ton Cafe located in the downtown area which not far away from the tourist spots, but this place haven’t fill out by tourists. We came here around 11: 30 am in the morning, and the restaurant was getting packed since the business hour started. We can see many of the customers are locals. We knew Bon Ton Cafe is the place we had been looking for. Ambiance: 5/5 The restaurant looks very old- style, which you can see in many old fashioned American movies. Service: 5/5 The staffs are super friendly and attentive. Ordered: Crawfish Étouffée (5/5): The best Crawfish Étouffée that we had in NOLA, overflowing peeled Crawfish! It’s absolutely NOLA Only dish. Oyster Alvin, with seasoned Rice (5/5): seems like deep fried oysters Étouffée. The oysters and mushroom Rice are soo good! The oysters are fresh and juicy. Highly recommend if you are looking for classic, authentic New Orleans Food.

Came here just for dessert but was blown away by the lovely service, fabulous cocktail (Rum Ramsey), and charming atmosphere of brick, wood, and light Mardi Gras touches. This is a restaurant I could easily spend time in and I would love to try their entrées. Dessert was indeed wonderful and worth a stop. I expect the savories will be just as delicious.

Wonderful atmosphere. Great food, although I would change a few a things with menu items quality. It was a different take on Crawfish Jambalaya. Just rice, spices and crawfish, lots of crawfish, no sausage, onions or peppers.... Flavors were still amazing. Bread pudding is a must!

This place been around for years since like 1900’s or something and the food was more like home cooking to me! Kinda of $$ but totally worth every penny! If you go to New Orleans I would recommend hands down!

Quaint, intimate ambiance. The Shrimp Creole and very flavorful. You must try their Rum Ramsay cocktail. The fact the recipe is a secret adds to the allure, plus it's yummy.

Best crawfish etouffee in the city! The crawfish is succulent and plentiful. The bread pudding is some of the best I've had on NOLA. Definitely a place to eat at when you are in the area!

I went to Bon Ton Café on a whim through the recommendation signed off by a NOLA local in a “best of” issue for a local rag. Upon presentation of the menu, I found myself presented with line items which are normally out of my budget range. Seeing this, I asked the waitress if it would be ok for me and my thrifty friend to just order appetizers. “Absolutely,” we were told. What a tantalizing experience! We both ordered the catfish bites and the shrimp and okra gumbo. Such a delight! Both the service and food deserved six out of five stars. The flavor in the Gumbo blasted my tastebuds away, leaving them in heaven for the entire experience. The light battered catfish in combination with the Gumbo lent itself to a grand flavor exposition of this historic restaurant in the Creole lore of New Orleans.

The crawfish etouffee and mustard greens were delicious! The Bon Ton Cafe was within close walking distance to my hotel on Canal Street, making the cafe a wonderful option for lunch during my conference break. The service was first class and efficient.

It is nice to visit a restaurant that is over 60 years old in a building that is over 100 years old. The red fish Bon Ton was good. The bread pudding was OK.

Good stuff. Matt the waiter was the best. Very good turtle soup. I had the special, an old school chicken and gravy dish with dirty rice and peas. My guest had the soft shell crab, which he said was one of the best. All outstanding. To finish, bread pudding with whiskey sauce and coffee was the bomb. Neat layout. Staff was great great great.

Mark was our server. His recommendations and friendly demeanor made the experience wonderful. The meal was incredible. Great ambience. Go to this restaurant if you are in town. Their version of a whiskey sour made with rum was so good that I had to have two. The drum fish with clams was perfect. The crawfish soup was the best seafood soup I've eaten in my life. Great job everyone at my new favorite restaurant!

Loved it here! Some of the best Cajun food I ever had. Food came out fast and had a nice presentation. My favorite was the bread pudding dessert. The waitress was really friendly. She made sure she saran wrapped our leftovers and provided us with utensils so we can eat them in our hotel room (without us even asking).

I've been coming to this restaurant for just over 40 years. I don't live in NOLA anymore, but it doesn't feel like a trip home unless my Mom & I eat here. In all that time, and with bringing numerous guests over the years, I've never had or encountered a bad meal. The owners are warm and wonderful, checking personally on guests. The wait staff is awesome, with a few being there for 20+ years. The Bon Ton is about as close to old school New Orleans as you can get.
