While in New Orleans it is a right of passage to wait in line at the historically famous
Cafe Du Monde
Chicory coffee and fresh Beignets! It was our first stop in Jackson Square.
Super crowded with long lines, but we got here just in time and we did not wait long for our warm bags of deliciousness!
Iconic spot for chicory based coffee and fresh, sugar laden beignets. Being honest, the beignets were a little more dense than I remember them being in the past. But they had great live music, it was a nice spot to relax and people-watch, and the entire menu was extremely inexpensive.
It is just an iconic place. Cash only and they have table service. The prices are still extremely reasonable. There really is powdered sugar everywhere- along with the pigeons waiting for you to drop something. Worth a stop
Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans deserves every star for its exceptional experience. The beignets are an absolute delight—perfectly fluffy on the inside with a delectable crispness on the outside. The powdered sugar dusting adds just the right amount of sweetness. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff enhance the overall charm. A must-visit for anyone craving an authentic taste of New Orleans' culinary treasures.
There will often be a wait to be seated, but the line moves fast!
If you visit New Orleans, you have to visit this café. It’s famous for their beignets and they are really quite good. The coffee is just average and I wouldn’t expect too much more from the location but it’s famous for a reason. Put it on your list and visit early in the morning and you won’t have to wait. Also, very important, this place is cash only.
I had never heard of a beignet until coming here. Of course, I had to try them. Needless to say, I was there at open the following 2 days and even had some for a late night snack 1 of those days! They were soooo good! I don't do caffeine, but have heard their coffee is great. Their OJ was phenomenal! Freshly squeezed. The 1st day we went at 9am and it was packed, but still not a long wait, it just looked like it! Our 1st visit was the best visit, more powdered sugar throughout the 3 beignets. Extremely excellent service. It kind of dwindled from there throughout my visits. BUT! I will say it's a place you can't pass up if you're in NOLA! You won't regret it. Their takeout wasn't near as good or consistent as eating in, even only 20min after ordering it. Dining in is a must! **it is cash only for any and all orders!**
Such an iconic place! The latte was great! Not the biggest fan of beignets myself, but still a must visit even if you aren't. Everything is only a couple dollars. Very inexpensive. Fun to just sit and be part of new orleans, enjoy a cup of coffee, listen to street performances, and watch the world go by.
Must eat the beignets while they're still hot. The table service is quicker than the to go line if it's busy. Later in the day it was nice listening to live music nearby while eating. Service was fast and friendly. Really enjoyed.
With the popularity of this French donut shop and the number of reviews already written, I don't have a whole lot to add.
Obviously, this French donut shop is a must try when visiting New Orleans. There is nothing spectacular about the restaurant itself and seating is just adequate. People move in and out fairly quickly so if at first there is no seat available, stand around for a few minutes and snag the first that empties even if still dirty. The staff does a good job of spotting the new comers and quickly arrives to clean the table and take the order. I went there on Oct 31 at around 11am and the above was my experience.
The coffee with chicory with milk was good and hot. The beignets were hot and delicious as expected. Other than that, just a must try.
What a great time we had. Wonderful atmosphere. The best beignets in the world. Ruby loved it too. It’s a great stop on a Saturday night walk in the French Quarter. It’s a must place to visit in New Orleans.
