Love this place. Down home cooking and casual atmosphere with great prices. The sides are awesome, as is the fried chicken and charbroiled oysters. Everything on the menu pleased everyone. If you haven't been, go!

The food is delicious. It better to eat indoors instead of the patio but if crowded eat on the patio. The Premium Bow Wow is good. All you need is one and drink slow. It will creep up on you. It can be crowded at times with a line. Parking is street parking unless you valet. Enjoy

Group of 6 ppl:
Appetizers: the char grilled oysters were decent
Fried chicken wing were delicious.. the crab balls were delicious and the crab claws were ok.
I had seafood platter... the shrimp and fish were well seasoned and piping hot.. the mac n cheese was creamy but I prefer elbow macaroni noodles instead of angel hair.. still very good.. I didn't have room for dessert but will be back!

I had a cup of gumbo and chargrilled oysters for appetizers. The oysters were top notch (5/5), while the gumbo was perfectly spiced and also delicious (4.75/5). The red beans with hot sausage as an entree was very good as well (4/5).

My friends and I frequent this place for the chargrilled oysters. Even if you're on a diet Neyow's oysters are simply irresistible. They're drenched in butter with herbs and spices, and so flavorful that you can't have just half a dozen. I'm getting hungry just thinking about them.

The chargrilled oysters are okay... For some reason they have pieces of shell in every bite. Are these oysters not hand shucked? Other food was average.
***Hands down best fried shrimp in New Orleans!***

Cool neighborhood restaurant for good soul food/seafood. Some of the cheesiest macaroni I've ever encountered (in a good way). Nice atmosphere, almost feels like home. I would definitely return!

Loved, Loved, Loved!. We recently visited NOLA for a conference. We ate at a lot of restaurants and Neyow's was our favorite - hands down. The service was great and the food even better. The mac-and-cheese was the best I had ever eaten. Others in our group enjoyed the oysters, ribs, creole shrimp. The dessert was to die for. It was so good that my friends went back the next day for lunch. We would have joined them if we didn't have to catch a flight.

Will return. Delicious pasta dish, jumbalaya was tasty a little on the dry side but good none the less. Fried chicken was supper crunchy and well seasoned. crab balls were moist and dipping sauce had just a bit of a spicy kick to make it nice. Will go back for sure. Waitress was on her toes!

Shrimp Shremp Shramp Shrump. Loved this little dive; Asked our server what to get. She recommended. I ordered. Heres how it happened.

Starter-Gumbo- little over priced but very good.
Entree- Friend Shrimp Po' Boy- excellent, plenty of food.

Overall Grade- A. Not an aficionado, but I know good food, this was it.

I'm in love..... Great location, smoked oysters, red beans/rice, corn bread all excellen. I'm very impressed w/their signature drink (from the bar). I can't remember the name though, but the owner sent one over to our table...good move sir....good move. I've visited 3x's in the last month and will be back to try more items on the menu. Can't wait to see the new banquet hall their bldg too, across the street.

We really need more entreprenuers like this!!! The city would thrive!!!

Oh for the love of pork chops!. The fried pork chops are badass. Everyone seems to rave over their mac n cheese, but something about using spaghetti noodles in mac n cheese seems sacrilege and unsettling to me (my mom is a die hard shell noodle user). They've recently added Sweet potato tots to the menu with all this sweet potato fever sweeping restaurants lately, but I approve. They are a bit pricey, but the daily specials are the way to go anyway. I only wish this creole cafe had rice and gravy as a staple menu item and not an occasional occurrence.

Try the Fried Chicken!. I have yet to dine-in - have only picked up orders. the fried chicken is simply delicious, everytime i've gotten it. my favorite here. recently had a seafood platter. watch out for the salt in this platter. crazy salty. way overboard, but i could have had an unaware cook on this particular night. mac-n-cheese is okay..it becomes "good" with hot sauce. bread pudding is super yummy & comes in a big 2 person square!
go to mid-city & support this joint for sure.

Holy Crap That Was Good!!!. I never write reviews but it seems nobody knows about this diamond in the rough. I live in mid-city and stopped in neyow b/c parkway was too busy. I have now been there almost once a week since! The BEST fired chicken, like you mom made. The BEST macaroni I have EVER had, I even bought enough to serve at a dinner party. Amazing red beans and fab daily specials. I can't say enough good things but I can say, the prices are as amazing as the food. Look out Liuzza's you just lost me to neyow!

Great Lunch Place. My husband and I recently visited this place and the menu was a diverse New orleans standard food. I ordered seafood stuffed peppers and they were really tasty, I was not fond of the garlic mashed potatoes. My husband ordered a hamburger poboy and really enjoyed it. The price was reasonable, I am not sure if I would revisit this establishment for dinner, it is a great place for lunch.

Value. Friendly neighborhood place. Food was up to New Orleans standards. Lunch specials are an outstanding value - and well thought out. Tuesday special includes any po' boy for $6 on the day that nearby legend Parkway Tavern is closed.

Great neighborhood NOLA joint. Tidy, new in 2010. Decor is quirky -- dog themed. I liked that.

Bright corner spot, across from the tragically shuttered L. Bogg Hospital, cor. of Jefferson Davis.

Neighborhood hangout. Similar to Little Dizzy's in vibe.

Food -- huge portions at good prices. My jambalaya had shrimp and sausage and was enormous, though a little wet for my taste and not very zesty. It even came with two well seasoned, lean if thin pork chops in the bone. Just $8 for lunch! I left my plate half full, because of the portion size. My wife's red beans and rice also was massive and came with pork chops for just $8. Also a hair soupy for our taste, and kind of average for authentic NOLA places in flavor. Service was very funky and friendly, though she got the order messed up a little (forgot my side of fries).

Outdoor cafe dining too.

Great to see another cool neighborhood place starting in Midcity. That neighborhood is really on an uptick.

Open 11am to 9pm Mon-Sat (actually til 11pm Fri and Sat). Sunday 3-10pm.

May 2010.

Getting Better All the Time. I have been twice for lunch and once for dinner so far and it really keep improving. The food is plentiful for the prices and I've never been able to eat everything on my plate, though I've wanted to. Nothing too creative or original here, just southern classics done well. The pork chops seem a tad thin, particularly under all the breading, but still tasty. The fried chicken, dark meat, was fresh and delicious with well seasoned and crisped skin. The macaroni and cheese seems to be made with broken spaghetti noodles, but is nice and creamy, if a touch bland and the creamed spinach is above critique entirely. The Sunday dinner service seemed a little more high quality and even included a tray of crawfish with our bread. All this being said, the only real problem with Neyow is the service. Servers are super friendly, but the food timing is never coordinated, so if you go with people, expect that one person will be almost done eating before another gets his or her plate.

Good little joint. Went for the first time last night. Large plate of red beans and rice with 2 grilled bone in pork chops. Taseted like good well seasoned homey food. My wife had a turkey club which she really liked. 1 negative: the crab claws were a miss. The claws themself tasted perhaps not so fresh or not seasoned enough, in any case "fishy" but the crab meat on top was good. The "sauce" was too thick.. needed more butter and garlic. (I love the ones at Copeland's) Over all, good little place.

Nice addition to Midcity. Located right by the old Lynda Boggs Medical Center (Mercy?) on Jefferson Davis Prkwy is a this new little cafe. So far, I've been impressed with the quality of the food and their prices. The fried shrimp and oyster plate was delicious. The shrimp are "two-bite" shrimp and the oysters were small and fried a golden brown. The fried chicken was nicely done although you only get 2 pieces of either dark or white. White is $1 more. I thought the chicken plate was a little expensive for only two pieces. The sides are acceptable but I'd prefer macaroni and cheese to be made with real macaroni rather than spaghetti broken in inch pieces. They also need to add a small house side to the side offerings. The bread pudding was great. It has a very sweet praline sauce on top it. If you a diabetic, think twice! The service was good and the owners have been on site each time I've been there. They are very friendly and open to comments as to how to make their restaurant better. I will absolutely be going back.

This place had such a fun atmosphere, customer service, good music, and good vibes. The Oysters were melt in your mouth, butter. So good! The only thing I didn't like was the Mac n Cheese, too mushy for my liking. Everything else was so delicious!

Love coming here. The food is always good. Great for dinner with family or friends. Gets a little loud if you want to have an intimate conversation. Get the garlic bread and Jazzy wings for an app. Had the Combination platter. Was so yummy. Great service even when the place is packed. They are always people coming in. A testament to how good the food is and the reputation of this fine establishment. 10 outta 10 would recommend. Also, get the punch. They also make an "adult" version. Can't go wrong with either.

This creole cafe is Heidi rated by the locals, it’s located near the business district, away from French, Quarter and bourbon Street, which is great. I saw someone reviewed here said , the area where this restaurant is at it’s a little sketchy, which is not true. if you are familiar with Baltimore, I will say this area is very similar to the restaurant street near the Patterson park in Baltimore. Which is very lively with many choices of restaurant in the nearby vicinity. The food here was delicious , we had some of the best gumbo; fried chicken came with well seasoned batter and very juicy inside; the barbecue shrimp sauce is very unique, buttery, and savory, with a slight taste of sourness and sweetness; the grilled fish fillet was good, but nothing special. It was fresh. As for the drinks, you have to try their signature Bow Wow drinks , I had the 14 ounce bow wow fruit punch. It was so delicious even though it’s filled with ten shots of rum, but you couldn’t even taste it, that’s how smooth it is. They also make these Bow Wow drinks with no alcohol. And choice of flavored tea are also options CJ was our waiter/bartender, service was great, prompt, attentive, and considerate. Highly recommend & It’s a thumbs up from @winedinenvacay

This place had awesome food!! If you come here only for the beignet sticks, you'll be more than happy, but everything we ate had such great flavor. Good portion sizes. It IS loud, though. So if you're noise sensitive you'd do better with takeout. UPDATE: We had to eat there again and had lunch this time. Their fried chicken was amazeballs!

Place was crowded but we were seated straight away. Classic Creole and Cajun dishes. Service was very good, fast and friendly. Fried chicken was delicious! Very flavorful, well seasoned, crispy and juicy. Red beans and rice were great. Hush puppies were on point. Mac and cheese was ok but not great. Kids had a brownie with ice cream dessert that was fantastic. Good meal, good experience, definitely worth a visit. Lots of locals and not a lot of tourists which is a great sign.

A late supper last night of Raw Oysters, Filet Gumbo, Sautéed Crab Claws and Honey Mustard wings after being greeted by our Sasquach host. 😂 We were here 4 years ago and it was nice to see that the prices hadn't really changed much and the food is still really good.

Always a great experience when we visit! This has become a “must” on our restaurant stops when we visit NO! Great food, great drinks, superb service! We always get the best waitresses whenever we visit! I think that’s because they all have such great attitudes! They are always extremely helpful! Not to mention the hostess has always seated us quickly & the chefs get the food out to you promptly. If you have not visited this place then you are missing out!

Our hostess was pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere was jumping, plenty of people. I had the Gumbo which was pretty good. I didn't really like the cubes of ham that were included. They weren't bad I just didn't like it on my gumbo. Parking is tight so be prepared to drive around for a bit to find a spot.

In town for the 50th Annual Bayou Classic. Stop by on Sunday to have dinner with friends still in town after our Southern University win. The vibe was charming, inviting and friendly. Hostess was very accommodating and we were seated quickly. I ordered the fried fillet fish which was hot and delicious. I would definitely recommend.

When I say, this is my favorite place to eat in the world they opened up a location in Houston. That’s no longer there so every time I visit New Orleans I have to stop here. Food is great so flavorful I had the crab claws we had pork chops, seafood platter. I just can’t get enough of this place atmosphere is always great our server Aladdin was great as well, but he seem to be a little overwhelmed. Because he had three huge parties, but he still did a great job. This food is the taste of New Orleans.
