I’ve been a weekly breakfast diner at Russell’s Marina grill for over 5 years, mostly on weekends. I believe I’ve enjoyed the majority of their breakfast offering at least 5 times each. Their menu gets updated occasionally to keep things interesting. The “Bene” menu is amazing offering 7 different Benedict’s. The new Hogshead Cheese omelette & paneed Hogshead Cheese is something you have to try! My daughter in law got the courage to get past the name and loved it! The sweet potato beignets are killer too. Orange juice is squeezed straight from fresh cut oranges into the pitcher and to your glass. Despite the crowds & frenetic pace of a huge wait staff, I have never had less than excellent service. I can’t say enough about the owner Pavlos’ menu creativity and his passion for customer service to deliver a memorable dining experience...
Breakfast at Russell's Marina Grill this morning by the Lakefront. They've added a porch roof and fans for their patio seating making this great breakfast/brunch spot even better. The fried oyster omelette with bacon and cheddar smothered in remoulade was on point, as always, and they always keep my coffee cup happy.
We went for breakfast!! The bloody mary was excellent and the mimosa's made with fresh squeezed orange juice were the best. Their eggs benedict was great as usual. I have never had anything here that has not been top notch!! Our server Randi was there for ever need and was such a pleasure. If u haven't visited here please give it a try, you will not be disappointed and ask for Randi!! Cant wait to go back.
I actually came two days in a row. Lauren and Laurel.... thank you for the great service!!! The food was amazing each day. I sat outside both days and even though it was a hot day, the breeze kept things very cool. Go for the eggs benedict you cant go wrong!
Outside seating...nice weekend late breakfast spot everything was good and nice portions. Will be back.... Nice staff
The eggs #9 blew my mind. Everything we ordered was delicious. The place was packed with a constant stream of people. I was constantly looking at what everyone was ordering.
This restaurant offered a variety of breakfast menu items. The one that caught my attention was the banana's foster french toast with ice cream. I mean who doesn't want ice cream for breakfast right? I ordered sweet potato beignets. These balls were very challenging to understand as we were eating them. First, they were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. which is great in theory, but the middle was runny seemingly with sweet potato filling of some kind. I was unsure if this was on purpose or they were undercooked. The lemon honey drizzle that accompanied the beignets was simply delicious and I could have eaten a gallon of it by itself. The lemon honey drizzle seemed to be a simple syrup but added honey lemon flavoring and mint. The flavor profile did not go well with the beignets. Then the star of the show was delivered to the table, Banana's foster french toast over ice cream. The foster sauce was one of the best versions I have had since I been in New orleans. It was thick and rich. You could tell that someone put a lot of love into this caramel sauce with rum and bananas. The french toast was good if you base it off technique. The bread was crispy, soft on the inside, and buttery. The problem comes with the choice of utilizing wheat bread with seeds on the crust. Seeds when pan fried can become hard and chip a patron's tooth. Also it just seemed like a very oddly textured bread to use for a french toast recipe. I also tried the pork chop, potato hashbrowns, and grits. I tasted the meat and the pork chop was well seasoned and cooked near perfect to me. The hash browns were amazing. I was stuffed beyond relief by the time we left. I ate the rest of the french toast for breakfast this morning. It was still delicious the second time around.
Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch, I love this place! They have the same great food they were serving before Katrina. Big Al's Bloody Mary is a must! They use top shelf vodka, great mix, olives, and okra. They also serve orange and grapefruit juice squeezed to order. I usually get the Salmon Lox omelet with grits and a side of Rye toast.
The Rody Pancake is so hearty and delicious. It's a multigrain pancake made with steel cut oats, bananas, blueberries, and pecans.
Great service and the staff is friendly:)
We had the blooming onion for breakfast and we ordered the breakfast special. We got a lot of good food for a good price. Friendly waitstaff small little restaurant but don't let the looks fool you. Huge portions

I'm only knocking off half a point because the restaurant was a bit...dingy. The food was super cheap and the portions were huge. The waiter was helpful and sarcastically friendly (as are we), our orders were out quickly, and the menu has a good variation to it. I had the bananas foster waffle (...I gained 5 pounds just looking at it) and a side of eggs. It was droolworthy. They have daily specials, but we haven't been back yet to try them. I certainly plan to, though.
Great food. Delicious food and excellent service. The eggs #9 was exceptional. The marina social was also great. This place is well worth the trip with a great location
Wonderful brunch/lunch spot!
Great west end restaurant. I have ate here many times and its always been good. Great breakfast foods and seafood dishes or whatever else u want.
Love this place!. I have been coming to Russell's since I was a child. Their fast and attentive service paired with their rather surprisingly great food has yet to dissapoint my family or me in all the years we have frequented the restaurant. The Eggs 9th, which is: Crabcakes, poached eggs, and shrimp hollandaise sauce is sinfully delicious! They have Fresh squeezed orange, lemon, or grapefruit juice, (or I always get mimosas on the weekends) make sure to ask for one ! I am just happy they are finally open for dinner again!!
This is a must try place!
Always Excellent. We go to Russell's at least every 2 weeks for Sunday brunch and have never been disappointed. Very consistent with fresh ingredients and the waitstaff is super attentive tending to our every wish . We are usually surprised by finding yet something great and tasty we haven't tried. Very very impressed and highly recommend if you haven't been to Russell's before. The omelette's are to die for and love the hash browns.
Anything you want.. After trying Russell's a couple months ago, I have frequented this restaurant about one a week and I have enjoyed basically everything I have gotten. My girlfriend and I both have culinary related jobs and can be harsh critics but this has become our staple when we can't decide what we want because they have such a varied menu and everything is so delicious with a very relaxed atmosphere. The eggs saints, cali omelette, and catfish almondine are a must try.
Really good breakfast and lunch options at a great price--I got a turkey melt and sweet potato fries for under $13 and both were delicious! The server we had was friendly and funny and very accommodating. Great place to grab brunch!

The pancakes that come with the Mr. America are the best pancakes I've had my whole life: multigrain with oatmeal, pecans, and bananas. If it's in season, ask for strawberries instead of blueberries - the strawberries are always from local farmers. Brunch here is excellent, especially the omelettes. DEFINITELY recommended.
The food has been consistently good for the last 10 years I have been going there. Breakfast specials are large and make sure to get Big Al's bloody mary. Quality food with a quick and attentive waitstaff.
Fun breakfast. I love coming here because it's like returning home after being away for a few years. Great atmosphere and friendly. Breakfast food is breakfast food. As long as you have a reasonable cook, it all tastes the same.
Had to wait on a Sunday morning but it was expected. Had the morning after omelet, which was good but didn't understand the French fries. Pecan pie was mediocre. Good bloody marys.
OK. Like a local version of denny's. Very popular spot. Since 1985. Large cheesy mural of the local marina (and historic lighthouse), bad pastel 1980s posters of beach scenes, awful sailboat art. But clean and comfortable and fits the very Lakeview-ish crowd there. Windows had small metal plaques under each acknowledging costumers or friends who presumably sponsored windows or the rebuilding of the restaurant after the Storm. Inexpensive: $40 with tip for breakfast for 4. The signature breakfast dish is the Eggs Pontchartrain: English muffin, two slices of fried green tomato, bacon, two poached eggs with hollandaise with a side of potatoes for $8.99 (why can't it be $9?) Sounded better than it was: the fried green tomato was cut too thick and undercooked, the eggs were a bit runny, the hollandaise standard, the bacon thin. Coffee was average. Pineapple juice was enormous -- 16 oz for $2.50. French fries, cheese omelet, toast all average. Hash browns pretty good. Service was plentiful and outstanding. Overall, this is like a local version of a Denny's. 1/10.
If you liked the eggs pontchartrain there are a zillion places in NOLA that do similar style eggs but even much better: Cafe Achafalaya in Irish Channel; Patois in Uptown; Begue at the Royal Sonesta in the Quarter; 7 on Fulton in the Warehouse District. For less fancy eggs, but amazing: Surreys in Lower Garden District; Cake Cafe in the Marigny; Lil Dizzy's in the Treme; Slim Goodies in Irish Channel; Aunt lenis in Algiers.
Eggs Pontchartrain, I love you.. If you show up to Russell's on a weekend morning and you're hungry - your best bet is to grab a seat at the bar for immediate service. Fresh squeezed orange juice & Eggs Pontchartrain are the best. Staff is friendly and efficient.
Visiting from out of town and we loved this place. The food was great. I got the Eggs Pontchartrain -- an English muffin topped with bacon, topped with a fried green tomato, topped with a poached egg with hollandaise sauce drizzled over all that. It was excellent. We also tasted the fried pickles...and fried pickles are always good.
The service was just as good (if not better) than the food. I will definitely eat here again when I visit New Orleans in the future.
If you're more or a traditional breakfast person Russell's also has great sausage and poaches their eggs just right!
Wow!! What a superb diner breakfast. The grit cakes were an amazing twist on a savory. And the sweet potato biegnets were new to me and delicious. Perfect sweet and cinnamon. The biscuits and gravy was magic. Thanks for everything!
Russell’s is a really good option for brunch on sundays… it’s fairly easy to get in and the wait time isn’t usually that bad. I’ve never had an issue with the service, or the food. One of my favorite things to get on the menu is the Mr. America special. In a previous review I forgot to upload a picture, so here it is.
Great food and service. Loved the sweet potatoes beignets! Their pickled onions were also delicious. Strongly recommend stopping here for breakfast!

What a treat it was to enjoy brunch at this local destination that was loaded with personality and great food. Everyone, especially Rachel our server was so nice. The cocktails were great, and the menu was loaded with interesting local favorites. We all got something different and we all loved everything that we got. The Sweet Potato Beignets are a must try, and I can't stop thinking about the Eggs Pontchartrain. Perfectly poached egg on the top, a crispy fried green tomato, thick slices of bacon and a creamy hollandaise sauce to bring it all together. Amazingly, our friend that got the steak was really impressed as well - cooked perfectly and tender as can be.
I'm going to have to go back sooner than later - there are so many other dishes that I can't wait to try. Rachel, hold a table for me!
Bustling daytime diner with seating at tables or counter. Open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week. Winning formula: friendly servers - superior fare - overflowing portions and surprise - lower prices than you expect!
Amazing food ! Gambo is perfect, and the red beans with rice are so taste ! The special is a great option with a even better price.
Definitely gives diner vibes!!! Super spacious, nice waitstaff, and good food. Perfect for breakfast or brunch. We sat in a booth, which you know I love a good booth moment. Price point is spot on and the food came out fairly quick. 👌🏾 No complaints. Check em' out, you won't be disappointed.
This is one of those cool hole in the wall spots where when you walk in you feel like family. The staff are very nice and they greet you with a smile and ready to serve. The food is good I just went for breakfast and it was awesome and reasonable. They also make homemade desserts that looked really good I would have got one but I was full from breakfast. The only negative thing I will have to say about this place is that they need to replace the carpet. It was really dirty, but other than that this place was awesome.
Great food and yummy drinks. Outdoor patio is comfortable, not too loud. Great for conversation.
Stephanie took care of me and did an excellent job 👏.
Ill be back!
We don't go as frequently as we once did, but it's always consistent always good and the service is excellent.
Breakfast here was incredible. The staff are warm, patient, and amazing. I ended up getting the Hollywood Wrap. The prices are great, too! It was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back soon to try more of their menu!
Consistent with service and food! A traditional breakfast with flare and non traditional options. Those who are looking for French Toast, I'd rate it against the best, maybe the best in New Orleans. The short stack is plenty for 2 or even 3 people to share. The Eggs Benny #33 ouuu weee. The alligator sausage has a small kick to it but just right with their grilled biscuits that are thick with crisp edges. I'll also mention, my coffee stayed full and hot.
Great place for breakfast with many local specials. The sweet potato bignets was great. All the breakfast dishes and the Bloody Mary were well made and tasty. Great place to visit in New Orleans.
Some of the best food I’ve had in Nola. You can tell this place is well-loved by locals and tourists alike! I got the Ruby special (burger and fries with a cherry milkshake) and it was superb. The staff was super sweet and friendly, and they all seemed so cheerful and happy to be there. The family who owns this place is hardworking and definitely puts love and care into their work. Will be making this a stop on every New Orleans trip!
DELICIOUS!!!!! Every. Single. Bite. Highly recommend that you go hear the pancakes we delectable and tasted like they were made with sweet cream (they are huge), and I added the strawberry jam that I had gotten with the grilled biscuits and best jam ever obviously homemade and everything, orange marmalade was also awesome, the hashbrowns are more like homestyle potatoes not regular hasbrowns so still delicious just different, they also tasted like bacon (YUM) they had more health focused options too like the powerhouse breakfast and some that I believe could be easily modified to be vegetarian. All in all this place did not disappoint!
Family oriented environment with amazing service. Carolena seated us as we walked in the door. She is an angel with a gorgeous smile. The cooks sealed the deal! I’m picky about my food however they handcrafted some of the most amazing dishes I’ve eaten in New Orleans in a long time. We are now REGULARS! This is a must try.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Jennifer, our server, was amazing. We were a party of 8 and everything went so smoothly. We were told everything here is made from scratch and you can absolutely tell! As travelers, we ate at many of the best restaurants in New Orleans and this was everyone’s favorite meal, hands down.
Feel like I found a hidden gem of a restaurant in New Orleans! The food was absolutely write-home-to-mama about delicious! You can tell they use fresh ingredients and genuinely take pride in their menu. I was pleasantly surprised how low the prices were considering serving size and quality. Server was friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back and I’m bringing mama!
Excellent service, and they are quick. Can't go wrong with a chicken fried breakfast
