Was not expecting that. The staff was amazing, personable, and fast. You can really tell they are a "family" there. We where just stopping in for drinks, but decided to grab some food. The drinks are made with top shelf liquor and quality ingredients. The food was not your average bar food. Definitely mom & pop high quality restaurant food. Even the chefs in the back where smiles and happy to be there. To top it off it's all for a good cause.
Outstanding in every way! Honestly this is the best meal I’ve had so far in New Orleans. The food was amazing, our server was very friendly and attentive, the World Cup was on TV and they asked us if it was okay to turn down the volume on the music and turn up the volume on the TV before they did it (totally fine with us!), and it just had a very comfortable and welcoming vibe. It is about a 5-6 minute walk from the Cafe Du Monde on Decatur Street just to give you an idea on the location. I was there with my daughter and we felt totally safe walking around there so no worries on that account. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend you check out this place if you are in New Orleans!
Wonderful place to get some excellent food and libations. The Tahyo not only serves deliciousness for the belly, but helps to provide second chances to Pitbulls and people. I highly recommend supporting this establishment to help support humans being genuinely human, while doing great work with Tahyo and Villalobos Rescue Center. As a vegetarian, I suggest the Buffalo Cauliflower, Grilled Brie and apple sandwich, macaroni and cheese, the Fried Green Tomatoes, a local brew, and the Jethro cocktail. Btw: the cocktails are named in honor of doggies rescued through Villalobos, and the chef specially prepared a Fried Green Tomato sandwich, for my friend. FGT’s are on the menu as an appetizer, but he prepared otherwise and it was beautiful. Shout out to the Chef and our server Sydney. You rock!!
I had the best time the dish washer is a life time friend now. Our food was so good the drinks even better. I had the covered hotdogs which was large enough to share which we did I had the Bluie so good. I'd recomend this with 10 stars
Great place, excellent drinks. Very cool place to go and hang out. Very friendly staff.
Food (the burger) was wonderful! The pickled green tomato was awesome! Good place to sneak in and grab a cold one and some great food.
I loved it here. My family and I traveled to Mississippi from New York and I had to make this one of our destinations. Did not disappoint. I even stood next to Earl but I was to scared to say Hi. Lol
Great burger and fries. I'm not a fan of mayo , but you have to try the garlic mayo with the fries. Service was prompt and polite. This will definitely be a must stop on return trips to new Orleans.
This was a MUST on our trip to NOLA. It did not disappoint! The staff was awesome (and very helpful when asking for someplace locals go to that served the best crawfish). The drinks were delicious! And the fact that it benefits the VRC is fantastic. We will surely be back!
Best burger I have ever had! Hard to put into words how good the Barks Burger and Bond drink were!!
Burger and Fried Green Tomatoes were wonderful. The staff was great!! Very informative and friendly! Definitely would go back again. Always up for helping out the fur babies!!

Food was amazing! First ever lunch with Tia was unbelievable, we were so happy to be a part of it!!
Dec 2018 They were super busy when we walked by must be doing something right! We went to their shop up the street instead while we burned time in between dog walks. Thanks for the great experience VRC!
Me and my sister pasted this place by while roaming the French quarters and she said that this place supports pit bulls and paroles the show so we had to stop in. So sad we didn't get to see Tia as we heard she was stopping in soon. It was so fun to see and the drinks we got were amazing. Thank you!!!!! When I am ready for a new dog(pit bull) we w I'll all be visiting villalobos and this Tavern! <3
It was amazing - fast service, great prices, and food was delicious. So friendly and kind. Decor is absolutely fabulous. It also goes to help such an amazing cause.
Great burger joint in NOLA if you’re in the French Quarter. They have a great variety of craft cocktails. You seat yourself.
Tahyo is at the corner of Decatur and Governor Nicholls.
The females bathroom is vary clean. Only one stall. There is also outside seating.
What a great place to visit, eat, drink and contribute to helping feed hungry dogs! We ate here for lunch and had fries for an appetizer and the Bark burger that was delectable! Friendly staff and even the GM of the tavern Orlando stopped and spoke with us who is from Tampa where we live! We loved this and DEFINENTLY will be back!
Tahyo Tavern is a little ways off the beaten path from the "touristy" section of New Orleans, and honestly it doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside if I'm being honest). But let me tell you it is absolutely worth the walk and if you don't order food your'e 100% missing out.
We were looking for place to grab a drink and Tahyo sucked us in with the idea of giving money back to dog shelters with every purchase. The beers we had were all pretty delicious, but the real winners were the food. We had the fried brussel sprouts and the goose fat french fries and they were both to die for. I've had duck fat fries before and they were delicious, and apparently goose fat is equally as amazing to fry things in. The malt vinegar aioli was so good I would have licked the cup it came in if I wouldn't be judged. Whatever seasoning they put on the brussel sprouts was absolutely amazing and were some of the best fried brussel sprouts I've ever had. Both appetizers were huge portions for the price you pay and easily fed four of us.
The only downfall of Tahyo Tavern was the service was a little slow, especially since it wasn't that busy when we were there. That being said if you're looking to slow your vacation down a little bit and don't mind the wait then head on over here. It's 1000% worth it!
The mussels, sliders and double baked pork suggested by the bartender were all amazing. Plus the best service we've had on our trip so far.
I have been a huge fan of their show Pit bulls and Parolees for years. They're such an amazing rescue organization and I admire them so much and eating here did not disappoint me. Everyone working there was really nice and carried conversation with us. The fried green tomatoes were delicious!! I recommend it. They had local beer which was refreshing. The best part was knowing our bill and purchasing a lend a paw donation was helping the rescue. A great place to go and support a good cause by eating and grabbing a drink when your in New Orleans.
A must stop. We had a couple of burgers which were fantastic and fries with a garlic type sauce sooo good. I had a margarita with chili lime sugar tasty and no lack of alcohol in it. The staff top notch friendly and great atmosphere. A must stop if in New Orleans.
Omg! The food is AMAZING! Definitely one of my favorite places to go now! I will definitely be back by next trip! The waitresses and cook were amazing! Loved the atmosphere! So friendly and sweet!
I don't need a reason to drink but if i did, drinking to help save puppies would be an amazing reason! The drinks were named after loved pups in the staff's lives. As a fan of the show, i had to order the Bluie in rememberance of Tania's beloved pittie. My friend ordered the Cheech and Chong. They were both delicious. Service was fast and friendly. The food smelled great and I'll definitely be back to eat. Remember to visit the Tahyo Shop further down the street.
Amazing. Our bar tender was so helpful with food choices and the atmosphere is very chill. Grayson is a great bartender and server we loved it so much we went back a second time.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and the history behind the place. Support a local dog shelter and have a drink too?!?! I'm in! The location is off the beaten path, but it's well worth it. The staff is great and much like the rescue dogs at Villa Lobos, they all have a story too. The bartender couldn't make what I requested but he was quick on his feet and mixed cinnamon vodka and Sprite. It was great!
Pitbulls and Parolees. I fangirled a little bit! The Lucky dog drink was yum and I was psyched to see a few TV stars there. A new must stop in Nola!
Where to start...when we planned our family vacation for this year we knew this was a MUST SEE!!!! Let me tell you, we were NOT disappointed!!!! The food was to die for! Highly recommend the french fries that are fried in goose fat, the barks burger was AMAZING and the tacos....OMG!!!!! Oh! and don't forget the server, Neil! Thanks Neil for the fabulous experience and all the great drinks!
This place is so cool!! It is a must if you are a dog lover! For every item purchased part of the proceeds go to their rescue.
Service was great. I'm not usually a big meat eater, but the burger here was to die for. Also love knowing some of the monet goes to the pups! Definitely will be stopping by next time I'm in town!
This was worth the trip. W drive over 1000 miles to see it. The food was excellent. Waitstaff was very nice.
Best food live had on this trip to New Orleans and I've been here for over a week and gone to various famous restaurants all along the way.
