There's a lot of great food in New Orleans, but there aren't many diners. Not only does Please-U have that small town diner vibe with a staff full of warm friendly faces, but their food is fresh and well priced! Check the specials because they're always cooking up something fresh each day. They've got breakfast all day and really good po-boys too. I work down the street and come by for lunch all the time. Service is real quick too so I don't have to take too much time away from work. But don't take my word for it, Please-U is always full of regulars who eat there all the time. Stop by and ask one of them why this place is such a gem.
It's not a visit to New Orleans without a meal or 4 here. I've never had bad food. I've never had bad service. I always walk out full and content. I get to missing this place due to their great photos. I wish I was a cow and had 4 stomachs so I could get 4 meals at once.
This place is great!! The food is delicious and the service is awesome! I had the grillled shrimp pasta (highly recommend) and my friend had pasta and meatballs which he said was great. The portions are huge as well -- definitely worth the money!
Best place to eat!!!! The service is awsome and in an affordable price all kind of sea food stake and breakfast!!! If you around this area instead of a fancy restaurant please stop here you won't regret it!
Some of the best food I have eaten!!! Home cooked, home made, and you get way more than you pay for!!! I would say some of the best food in NOLA!
Visited NO for the first time and am glad that I stumbled across this place. The food was great and reasonably priced. The staff was attentive, helpful and kind (~);} Thank you!!
Seriously the best omelet I've ever had! I would recommend this place to anyone!
I've been eating here for probably 15 years. Great food, great value, great staff! I the Please-U-Restaurant!
LOVED my Reuben sandwich and split pea soup. The service was so friendly and fast. Hubby didn't love his veal but it's a diner so . . . Trust me, it's worth hopping off the streetcar to enjoy this diner experience.
This is my favorite breakfast place. It's small and quaint
Gotta give high props. I live a few blocks away. If I'm jonesin' for hot muffuletta I don't need to go to the quarter. If hot sausage poboy don't need to sojourn all the way to St. Claude. If I want a Gyro I know they do the best and still saves a trip down town. Oyster or Shrimp poboy they got it. Red beans on Mondays all set. Now if I want pastrami & Swiss on rye I don't have to go all the way to NY. I love this place. They are Chiotes. Where the famous Mastika comes from. They serve beer. Their niece Vanessa and her husband play Greek music. What else can I say but Efharistos yiassou. Sagapo.
Great local spot on the avenue. Usually a bit of local color eating there to add to the enjoyment.
Great little dive. Good food and great service and prices!
Please-U Restaurant Review. “Since 1946.” Doesn’t that tell you all you need to know about the Please-U Restaurant, on St. Charles Avenue close into downtown? Open from 6A – 6PM, this old-timey diner serves all the American favorites as well as traditional New Orleans sandwiches and hot plate meals.
The food is like yo mom would make. Absolutely no complaints here. When you walk in it's like taking a trip back in time. Love it here.

Very down to earth diner. This place was great for breakfast during a recent visit. From the food to the people to the restaurant interior, it seems very real. Now, the interior looks like it hasn't been changed in many years. Classic diner booths, menu board, etc. The exterior doesn't look very promising at first, but keep pressing on. You won't regret it.
I had the chicken fried steak with eggs, grits and biscuits. That is a lot more than I typically do for breakfast, but I was compelled to eat the whole thing. They do their comfort breakfast food right. It looked like they would have some good stuff for lunch too. The waitress was very friendly and service was quick. The fellow taking checks was a bit gruff, but not unpleasant...just seemed to be his way.
I would certainly come back here for breakfast and probably try lunch too.
Simple and service with a smile
Typical local dive diner with great breakfast, grits, homemade biscuits. Lots of regulars. Friendly waitress. Serving in this location for decades. Will definitely go back.
Great locals diner!. Great diner! Had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Absolutely great cooking with even better prices. Not much from the outside but is definitely known amongst locals for great food!
I had a shrimp omelet and my husband had chicken fried steak and eggs. Both were delicious! The service was friendly and prompt and the portions are very big.
Good breakfast. Disclaimer: I have only been for breakfast.
They do have a pretty good breakfast. The place is def a dive and pretty dingy inside. But their portions are generous and taste good. Would rather eat at Blue Plate, which is just a couple of blocks away but Please-U isn't a bad choice. Seems to be a place where there are lots of regulars...
Nice little restaurant. Excellent shrimp and oyster po boys.
Cheap and delicious breakfast that is filling at the same time. It is a place that has lots of regulars. I am a fan of the basics and always get the pancakes. Their homemade biscuits and country hashbrowns are delicious. they also serve lunch fare, the oyster poboy and chicken gumbo were both delish as well. Always something good, no matter the meal.
Ooooooh yes!. Welcome to the pleasure-dome.
cheap eats and plenty of eye candy in here.
Best diner in NO. I LOVE this place. Greek omelet is excellent, chicken fried steak is superb, and the owner gave me a free hat because I eat there way too much. Friendly wait staff. Plus, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my food, even if it was super busy.
Good dive. This might be a dive, but the price is right. Please-U was made for hangovers, and large plates of greasy diner food (of every conceivable kind) served graciously by a fluffy greek lady that calls you 'darlin' is the perfect cure.
An amazing family dinner, classic home soul food. Any kind of food you may want. They make homemade biscuits, breakfast served all day from 7am til 3PM. When you arrive you may see many well known local artists, and influencers of the city eating here. Come enjoy some Greek Nola style dinner food. Great prices too!
Homemade food and was so good. Very welcoming family and waitstaff. Place is small but well worth trying. Will not disappoint. Sorry for pictures but couldn’t wait and the one picture shows we cleaned the plates lol
Excellent quick breakfast spot. Incredibly friendly staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed to New Orleans, food was made fast and deliciously. Very affordable, and a cozy vibe make this a great spot to sit and sip coffee while planning your day.
Great little dive with awesome food and equally awesome service. I ordered the steak and eggs with grits and it was so delicious and huge. My wife got the gyro sandwich and fries and she said it was amazing. (Didn’t get a pic of the gyro)
Typical dive restaurant in St Charles, on a lark I gave it a try. Did the half sandwich combination and cup of gumbo as a first-time vistor to gage the kitchen staff. Was surprisingly impressed seafood gumbo was good, despite the thin look and had great flavor. For a half sandwich seemed to duplicate itself between the kitchen and service counter, and was awesome. Recommended for a good ole Nola staple meal. Sweet tea was good and lemon for my beverage. Counter service was a little slow at checkout, and the bad orange hair dye did nothing but play on her phone, causing the holdup. This was the only pitfall for a surprisingly great lunch. I will return, even with the dated atmosphere and all.
This was 2 blocks from our hotel on St. Charles Street. Such hospitable people and we were pleased with the portion size and the variety of lunch options. We ordered 2 seafood po' boys and we left very full. I took one star off since our table was a bit sticky so we moved to another booth. No problem.
Family Owned and operated, Amazing food, friendly staff, absolutely a perfect hole in the wall, overlooked restaurant.
This place lived up to its name. It was quite pleasing. I arrived early and was able to sit anywhere. I didn't feel pressured to hurriedly order or leave. I was able to watch Good Morning America and feel at ease while I waited for my order.
Based on the high reviews for waffles and chicken, I immediately ordered without needing the menu. The dish was wonderful. Perfect amount of meat and Belgium-style waffle. I write "style" because the waffle had the same thickness, but without the extra sweetness that would have ruined its compatibility with the taste of the chicken. Orange juice was not fresh squeezed yet it was delicious.
Overall, worth leaving the normal touristic restaurants in the heart of New Orleans. FYI I parked behind the restaurant for free. I hope that was okay.
Perfect pork chop and biscuit. Smells really warm and welcoming upon arrival. Good service.
This is the quintessential neighborhood restaurant. I had the Gyro Sandwich with fries and it was hot and delicious. The decor is straight out of the 1970s. It reminds me of my younger years dining out with my family. Service was prompt and the prices were great. A+
