I am the new owner of this bar and it has been completely remodeled with a new menu, outdoor dining, and weekly comedy show in its Haunted courtyard.

It may not look like somewhere you would expect to have great food but our wings were the best we have had whilst travelling in the US and the crawfish was great. Very quick food service and easy meal.
This is a great place that is not touristy...which is what we wanted. This place looks like a dark bar but if you walk straight through, you get to a courtyard outside with some tables and chairs. Looks a little dinky but char-grilled and raw oysters were really tasty. Also had 1lb crawfish ($6 per lb) and they peeled easy, were spicy, and very tasty! Would definitely come again! Also, very friendly servers. Had similar oysters in French Market Place but they cost more and taste was just ok.
Amazing food. Nice people and cool low-key atmosphere. FYI bar is cash only but food area takes credit cards. Glad we got off the beaten path and found this place!
Pasta jambalaya awesome! Lots of food for price & not too hot
One of the best places in NOLA. MRB is one of my favorite places to eat in NOLA. The seafood pasta is delicious and the serving size is enough for 2. The charbroiled oysters are fabulous. I have never tasted a bad thing here. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.
The char-grilled oysters rock!
Was searching for this place since my last visit, great bar off the beaten path, amazing food. Low and behold the kitchen had new owners and we went specifically for the char-grilled oysters good thing they were just as amazing as before. Super friendly staff, make a stop on your next visit!
Typical bar atmosphere. Loved the buffalo chicken po boy on French bread. Very flavorful and spiced just right. The bartender was friendly and attentive too!

Best chargrilled oysters!. My daughter and I enjoyed the chargrilled oysters today! Great little out of the way place, with a friendly staff! We met JW, the pooch of the place, and an African Grey that is over 60 years old. The oysters were amazing and the courtyard atmosphere was perfect. Going back tomorrow!
Great little bar that I stumbled into when I was on vacation in New Orleans last September. Great staff, friendly atmosphere and very reasonable prices. I also met my fiancé here and we’re back in the city next month to get married. Can’t wait to pop back in for a few celebratory drinks and a good feed afterwards. Does anybody know if it’s possible to reserve tables at all as there’s likely to be a few of us?
Stumbled upon this place and what a find! Good food, nice people, clean and friendly. Made me a pot of coffee (mid afternoon no less!). Had the crawfish fried rice with soft shell crab. Delicious and reasonable. Will def return! Highly, highly recommend!!!
If you want real cajun food cooked by people who love their job MRB's is the place to go. I just left the place very happy and decided to give it a review. From the outside it looks like a run down bar, but in reality its a place for the locals that enjoy drinks and cajun food at real prices, not tourist prices. Give it a try and you will leave the place full of good food with some extra cash to live it up on Bourbon Street. You wont regret it.
To Whitney Capps review 4-10-13. I find your review hard to believe and I think you have mistaken this place with another, never have we refused service to anyone because of their attire. All of the employees wear jeans and t-shirts and are a very friendly & professional staff. our entire staff is made up of people who have worked in the restaurant business between 10 to 30 yrs. each ,plus the staff owns the restaurant. therefor we would never turn down business or alienate them . our staff prides themselves on friendly prompt service whether your dining in or delivery. so we invite you to come back to the right restaurant this time and enjoy a great meal. 515 St. Philip st. p.s. were sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at one of the other restaurants here and we welcome you to come here to ours. sincerely from the staff -owners at MRBs french quarter courtyard grill.
Shocked and rocked. I am a carriage driver and many people have told me to try MRB. So many in fact i started sending tourist there for the crawfish. Today I decided to go my my self and ....... The Crawfish .... the best. That is all I can say. We also had some items off the lunch menu and that was good too. Oyester po-boy fresher than fresh. This city truely has great food, just stay away from the tourist traps. Thank you Marlin for sending to this place. Jeff
The food is awesome! I always eat off the special board!! Meredith is super nice!!
LOVE IT!!!. My fiance and I stumbled upon the MRB bar one summer afternoon and have been hooked ever since. Our favorites are the Avacado crab dip, loaded cheese fries and the buffalo wings! I know sounds simple but I would say its the best bar food I have ever had! The MRB bar also has awesome daily special! During the summer we had bottomless crab legs and just a few weeks ago they had oysters rockefeller. The people next to us order a few dozen of them and the chef made them right in front of us! ....All I can say is this place is perfect for someone who likes to relax, watch a foodball game, drink and enjoy some delicious food without breaking the bank!
Best bloody mary ever. I've had bloody mary's in many many places and this was by far my favorite. The fish tacos were amazing.
The largest and freshest Raw oysters I have ever had. Ordered Raw and grilled oysters. The grilled were the best and I ended up eating two dozen. Sat outside and listed to a wonderful jazz trio while we ate and watched the college football games. You have to order at the back entrance and there is no serving staff. I would call this a hole in the wall you need to explore. Great local vibe!
Absolutely love this place. As a local, my friends and I know most of the bars but we were very happy to stumble upon this little gem. The drinks are fabulous and the bartender was super friendly. But I especially have to brag on the chef and the food. Bree is top notch. The food is literally a mouth orgasm. She even came out to our table and introduced herself. Fabulous personality and just adorable. A must try. Definitely say hi to Bree. She is the epitome of the New Orleans attitude. Just Fabulous!!
We did not have the food at MRB, but it does look and smells good. As a bar it is very good and a nice place to have a drink. The pours are generous and the prices are reasonable. A pool table is available if you like along with several bar games. This is a cool bar that New Orleans is so famous for. Definitely worth a visit.
We started at the front and ordered “the green drink” (frozen sweet drink) we were warned it was strong and that was no lie! Delicious. We then went to the back and ordered wings, chicken fried alligator sandwich and catfish sandwich. All of it was absolutely fantastic! Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked!!
The Crawfish mac & cheese is out of this world. Oliver and the staff are more then friendly and welcoming. We felt like family. If you have a chance don't miss MRB.
Hubby and I decided to eat here for dinner on a Sat evening. The bar is very clean. The courtyard area is nice. All of the workers were friendly. The food came out pretty quickly. The cheese steak Philly, crawfish mac, greens, and potato salad were the bomb. The gumbo was ok...not bad not great. The oysters were a Lil overcooked and there wasn't all that juicy goodness left in the shell there generally is that you can sop up with the bread, but we did sop up the cheese from the macaroni with it lol the hurricane I got was delicious as well. Maybe just a tad pricey for some of the food. I'd definitely go back again especially for that potato salad and the greens.
As a Quarter Rat, this is hands-down my favorite spot in the Quarter. The food at MRB is so much better than you'd likely expect -- everywhere Sells oysters, but MRB has more variety than any spot in the area by FAR. Lobster mac n' cheese, ostrich chili, crispy gator sando, hell even their wedge salad is stellar. Nevermind the 100+ beer list, tons of chalkboard specials, and their famous(and delicious) green drank. Try a chilled pickle shot with a Pimms Cup! The staff is out-of-this-world amazing, easy to get on a first-name basis with, you just wouldn't expect this caliber from what seems on the surface as just a sports bar. We often grab a booth and play the games they have there, we bring everyone who visits us to MRB, and without fail, that's where they always want to go back to on return visits. Eat here. Drink here. Have FUN here. And tip the staff because they make this place a must-hit in the Quarter!!
Awesome place. Had the chicken fried alligator sandwich and it was delicious!! Kudos to the chef!
Lou Lou the bartender was great, friendly and made fantastic drinks.
Popped in on a Tuesday morning for a Bloody Mary and was greeted by Lulu! Her hospitality made for a lovely visit! The bloody was amazing too. Can’t wait to come back!
Been coming to New Orleans for 20 years and this dive bar, if you want to call it that, was probably in the top five meals I have eaten in this city. I had the char-broiled oysters and the Crawfish Mac and cheese. Excellent!!
Chill atmosphere. Everybody who works there was super friendly and they really seem to like their job. Don't miss this place.
