Really enjoyed lunch here- menu items are definitely rich and savory. Can't speak to the dinner menu, but would absolutely return. Loved that our waiter explained how to eat unique dishes like the drum neck
Just look at the picture. The food is incredible. Distinct and weird (if you're from the north) and have never seen or or heard of something like what we got. Oh, and you can have turtle, gator and venison here! Not common for some Detroiters !
And the service/ wait staff, so kind and welcoming. I highly recommend. Drinks are pretty cool too. Try the melon smoke cocktail and the hole 43. Well crafted. The wine selection is extensive (kinda pricey). Warning, though, this is something you'll want to make sure you are OK spending the money for, especially if you aren't familiar with the dishes. But, it worked out for my girl and I so. Enjoy!
The crawfish pie was delicious and was my favorite. I was not big in the quail. It had a spicy kick to it but just not completely right there- not sure about what and why but one thing for sure was the temperature. Perhaps it was due to it got fired too early yet had to wait for the pie to be ready- it was only kid of like warm.
Over all it was very good experience. Fabulous vibe and deco. Our waiter Chris explained the drink and dinner menu very well with great details and highlight!
Excellent drinks. Cheerful serving staff. Chargrilled oysters, tuna tartare, and alligator were fantastic. The hot quail is definitely for those that like spice. The backstrap venison was perfectly rare. If you're a fan of german chocolate cake then save room for the bread pudding. Will be back with guests and clients!
Food is great, drinks are great. Selection on both a bit limited but solid. It's never packed and super convenient (if you live in the cotton mill). It would be my weekday go to, if I lived in that building.
My sister and I had a hard time finding the entrance but so worth it! Absolutely enjoyed chargrilled oysters, Tartare, butter cake for dessert. And the damn thistle libation was over the top! Love the atmosphere and big thanks to Sam & Sesa for making recommendations and for answering all of our questions. Also, for accommodating my 6 yr old with a grill cheese that he loved! We will be eating here anytime we come to New Orleans!
Wow, fabulous dinner. Creative vegetarian meal - thank you Chef. My husband's was fun and tasty. What a friendly and attentive staff that kicka$$ with knowledge and hospitality.
Very unique menu and bursting with flavor. Very good wait staff too. We went in on a slow night. Had venison backstrap, hot quail, and BBQ oyesters. All were very good. I like a ton of flavor, but I think some might think the sauces overpower the meats. I can see that, but everything was prepared nicely and it was great to try some unique dishes. A little more on the expensive side. I would say it's a $$$ place not a $$ place. Nice interesting cocktails too.
Great for small plates. Fantastic service. The tuna tartare was very good. Oysters were also good because they were oysters.
Maybe a bit pricier than some other places around, and also quite loud because of the building. But enjoyable. Also, super convenient parking, if you're driving.
Incredible. Ate here one night and came back within a week. The lost fish may well be the best seafood dish in the city and oyster selection is always great. Poisson Fume is one of the most unique dishes served in the city. Arguably the best seafood restaurant in New Orleans.
Seriously awesome cocktails; creative but balanced and well-made. Go for happy hour and get a deal on *good* oysters. Didn't get to try any apps or entrees but based on the menu and the bar program I'll definitely be back to try the food next time I'm in town.
Excellent service. Definitely for the diner looking for a fresh take on local food. Love the idea of small plate dining. Gives you the opportunity to try many dishes at one visit. The char-grilled oysters were excellent as well as the slate-blackened redfish and octopus courtbouillon. The deviled crab was bland. Nevertheless, a great dining experience.
Sac-a-Lait is an interesting place. It primarily serves small plates of very unique dishes -- grits with duck hearts, braised rabbit, octopus poboys, and so on.
The food was really good. The service was great. For the group I was a part of, the small plates were a bit on the pricey side, but met our needs for the time.
I recommend visiting and trying out a few of the dishes.
Amazing food, atmosphere, presentation, and service. The flavors were wonderfully complex and very, very satisfying. The service was without peer. One warning though - the desserts are huge, plenty enough for two, and attempting to eat one by yourself maybe the happiest way to leave this planet.
This is one of the best restaurants in NOLA hands down. Its creative, delicious, inventive and they are not afraid to be themselves. I dined here with my family a couple months back and I'm going back next week! I cannot wait! Literally everything on the menu is outstanding.
This place is amazing!
We were visiting from Canada for my birthday and I wish I could go back.
We had drinks (great drinks!), beers and lots of food!
We shared every plate except the oysters (we got 6 each) and couldn't eat more. I wish I could've eaten dessert...
Every dish is full of amazing flavor that the description on the menu does not prepare you for.
The chargrilled oysters were delightful, with a perfect amount of cheese and really tasted chargrilled, not the usual oven baked.
The tartare was much more flavorful that your average, the richness achieved with sweetbreads (what a good ideal and execution).
The alligator and Mirliton were a roller coaster of flavor I could never recreate and I really wish I could.
I liked the duck hearts, but was not impress. I would try something else.
I often make brains at home and I can tell you their veal brain is perfect, I really would eat them again and so should you, especially if you are afraid and never had a brain.
I remember a dish that came with a light, fluffy horseradish cream, I think it was the brain, and I fell passionately in love with it. I almost licked the bowl and beg for more.
At the end of the meal, we were pleasantly surprised that the bill was not as high as one would expect after such a big amount of stellar food.
In fact, I think it is not expensive at all for such quality and originality.
Absolute perfection. The service is warm, friendly and informative. You can feel the passion they have for their craft. The music selection was perfect. The presentation is unique and they make you feel like you're at home. I had the cypress sunset, Jalapeño-bacon garlic butter chargrilled oysters & Confit duck leg, andouille, creamed potato salad Buck's file gumbo ♡ I may have to make this restaurant a monthly part of my routine.
