Solid. Joined some friends for burgers at Ted's before a recent Tulane - So Miss Baseball game. Eagles won 8-4 btw.... The burgers are simple, to the point and just plain good. Like a non-pretentious good. The kind of good you remember from childhood, the kind of good that goes with a perfect rootbeer float. Highly recommend.
Old-School Southern Burger. I forgot how much I love this place and the food, the burger was made with fresh meat and had nice char. The proportions of meat and bread were great—it's a standout!
Great Root Beer Float. Very clean old school place, with free pinball games. The food is above average, but the root beer float is excellent. Nice break from the hustle of the french quarter.
Like Going Back in Time. I visited this iconic New Orleans burger joint during a recent trip to the Crescent City. The exterior and interior are reminiscent of a 50's diner. The frosted root beer mug outside the restaurant is a local landmark. And when you taste the food, it's easy to understand why. The lotta burger with cheese was outstanding. It comes dressed with lettuce and tomato. The cheese is shredded cheese and melts right into the hamburger meat. It all comes together to make one great big juicy burger. Super good. We also enjoyed the house made root beer. I'm not a huge root beer fan, but this root beer had a great flavor. The meal was also a good value for the price. About $8 for the burger, fries and root beer.
Iconic, authentic 50s burger joint. The iconic 15-foot-tall root beer mug spun out front since 1955. It was literally turned upside down by Hurricane Katrina. For years it was sign of what the storm had done to the city, so it was no small event when it was fully restored and turned back in its correct position in February 2012.
I attended the grand re-opening by invitation, as a part of the Krewe of the Rolling Elvi. We were there in jumpsuits, tasked with the job of drinking free beer and looking awesome.
It was such a fun day. The Elvi fit in well with the vintage look (and food) of the place. But while other towns are opening Johnny Rockets and pseudo-retro, Ted’s retro look is original.
The band that day had a jumpsuited singer, and friends parked cool 50s and 60s cars out front.
I've since gone back with my family many times. I really enjoyed their signature burger, with fries and, of course, a frosty root beer. Its not gourmet, but the atmosphere (oldies music, old pinball machines, great pics) really make it fun.
Full disclosure: I've become good friends with the co-owner and have been treated to meals a few times here.
Great Food & "Free" Pinball Machines At the Frostop. I recently returned to "The Big Nasty" and I had to stop in at the Frostop for a rootbeer, (still served in a Frosted Mug), cheeseburger & fries...I was really surprised by my experience at the Frostop! I learned that there are new owners and it shows! The burgers are not frozen, but made fresh! Mine was juicy and cooked just as I had ordered!! The BEST thing is that there are now SEVERAL Old-Time Pinballs that are set on "FREE PLAY" (this means that no quarters are needed people)!! Go for the food....stay for the FREE Pinball!! The Frostop MUG has been fixed, (is rotating again), and is definitely something to see all lit up at night! I rate this place "Two Thumbs up"!
Love the breakfast. Just like at home. The eggs were cooked just l asked.
Ressurection. The new owners have succeeded in raising this place from the dead!
I decided to pay another visit, since hearing good things about the turnaround - I'm very glad I did. I ordered my usual, Double Lot-O-Burger w/cheese; bacon; mayo & pickles - along with a side of waffle fries, and of course - root beer. What a difference new owners make! It was just like stepping into a time machine and going back. The burger was big, and juicy - just like they used to be. The waffle fries were seasoned perfectly. On my previous visit (April, 2011), I vowed I would never return. As I mentioned previously, I'm glad I gave the new owners a try - I will definitely return!
The one complaint I have, the person busing tables - I didn't appreciate my table being wiped off, while I was sitting there eating. From the looks of other patrons, they felt the same. Please refrain from doing so, until people LEAVE their table - especially since a wet, smelly rag was utilized.
Just what I've been looking for!. What a piece of history! This place has a GREAT feel and look to it, and isn't too far from anywhere. Just across from Tulane's campus, the Frostop has classic American food, as well as traditional Louisiana cuisine. Very reasonably priced, and fantastic tasting food. Can't wait until my next lunch visit! :)
I like it, i love it,. Give me some more of it!!!
awesome american drive in, like sonic, but a little more expensive and less of a menu.
saw chris rose eating here with a bunch of mardi gras indians on st. joseph's day.
they were hammered!!
GIVE ME SOME OF THAT ROOT-BEER FLOAT, ROSE!!!

Ted's Frostop, located in New Orleans, has been in business since the 50's. They serve yummy hamburgers, hot dogs, combo plates, milkshakes, malts and breakfast. They even have a jukebox and several pinball machines. When hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005,
Every time we are in NOLA, we drive by, and it's always closed. The towering float always beckons me. The burgers are good, the onion rings are crispy, the floats, shakes, malts, & fries are exactly as they should be - tasty!! The service was fantastic! I told the cashier it was our first time in, and she was super helpful!
We'll be back. 🤗
Every college/university has a reasonably priced burger spot close by. This is one for Tulane Universit according to our son. I did not have the burger today, but the egg bowl with chicken, potatoes, and cheese was really good. The biscuit was buttery and perfect. I tasted my husband's pancakes, and they were good, too. Our son had French toast sticks and bacon.
Super quality old school diner with AMAZING root beer, solid burgers, and a great vibe. Can't beat the vintage signage.
Went in to get a roast beef poboy combo. I watched her make it. If you have an allergy, be careful, they cook everything on the same grill. The meat is proportioned and refrigerated. It's then put on a grill, chopped and turned. The bread is dressed, then the meat added. Gravey is then poured in top. Ordered the fries with no salt, those were for me. And ordered a rootbeer. The staff were extremely friendly. 80% of the people coming in were ordering burgers so maybe they are really good, I'll never know, don't eat beef. The other 20% ordered redbeans but they sold out fast. Give them a try, maybe even write a review.
The staff here were so very friendly and awesome. Happened upon this diner and it was so charming. The food was delicious and the authentic root beer float was to die for. Came in and placed my order and the waitress behind the counter was super friendly. She asked for my name to attach it to my order and I answered her, “Herb” and she asked if I left Peaches at home. I told her no she was across the street in an awesome comic book store. Within minutes the line grew so long and the parking lot filled. So totally worth the wait.
What an amazing experience, I’m a HUGE fan of Frostie Root Beer, and they did not disappoint, and the cheeseburger 💥 chef KISS, one of NOLA Best!
Really good, juicy burgers in a cool 1950's era diner. I Love it!
Definitely a great place for a Cheeseburger, fries and a milk shake. But make sure you ask for cheese if you want it on the burger as it doesn't come with it.
Ok - if you are looking for a diner with that classic feel, then you’ll want to try this place!
This isn’t the place for you if you are counting calories, but if you are looking for a tasty / simple burger, then this is the place for you!
I really enjoyed my Big Bopper Burger (Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger)! Service was friendly.
This place is "haut de gamme" in so many ways. First, it is an authentic throw-back to the days of The drive in malt shop. Think: girls on skates and the tray hanging on your car window. The skates and trays are no longer allowed (OSHA?) but the look is still there. Then the staff are friendly beyond compare. (I'm looking at you, Larry!) The music is great. And to top it all off, the food is excellent. Try their daily specials or the Lot-o-burger.

Burger was awesome the Onion. rrings were at disappointment period were not hand dipped in the batter. Vintage pinball machines and pacman machines
Great, old school burger joint. Went for lunch and order a burger with onion rings, the lady that took our order at the counter was very friendly and even joked around with us , made us feel very welcomed. The burger was nice and juicy with fresh lettuce and tomatoes, the onion rings where also nice and crispy. The main attraction here is the root beer and to be honest I’m not the biggest fan of root beer but their root beer was by far the best I had, it was very frosty and smooth. Very nice atmosphere and the prices are not going to break the bank.
Excellent location near Tulane University easy in and out parking. The breakfast menu is the best interest the city, which I ordered. The prices are $ are great and the potions are large. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. I will return again!
Next to a college Stadium so it makes the game day experience even better. Best damn root beer I've ever had in my 39 years of living
As seen on American Horror Story Coven. Good food. Excellent retro pinball machines. Video poker. Unique caffeine free root beer. Retro ambienace. Affordable. Smash burgers. Lots of pickles

The food and the root beer were really good. But the lady that took our order was kind of grumpy and acted like she just really didn't want to be there.
Delicious food and very friendly staff. The embodiment of a traditional American diner. Highly recommend!! Loved the southern accents of everyone working there
